A bus and ferry ride from Cebu City, Bantayan Island is a tropical paradise away from the increasingly touristy beaches of Cebu.
There are several places and many things to do on Bantayan Island, so spending a couple of peaceful nights by the pristine beaches is definitely worth the trip. There are several options, but here are some of the best beach resorts for the perfect vacation.
Kota Beach Resort is one of the most popular resorts on Bantayan Island. Like most beach resorts, Kota enjoys a long stretch of fine white sand on its front. What sets it apart is the sandbar that forms right in front of the resort. When the tide is low, sea water gets trapped in a mini pool separated by the sandbar from the rest of the ocean.

The only facilities they have are a restobar and a pool table. Food is cheap (which is common in the whole Cebu province). The staff are attentive, and they have some stray beach dogs lying around the property.
There are several accommodations. The most coveted of course are the beachfront suites, which can accommodate up to 6 people. While Kota Beach Resort is one of the biggest resorts offering the most number of rooms, the entire property is peaceful and right on the beach.
Anika Island Resort is an eco-friendly family resort that makes use of old shipping containers as their cottages. Most of the materials used to built the entire resort are salvaged from old churches, boats, and buildings to keep the resort as sustainable as possible.
It sits on a 7,000 square meter property with lush tropical forestry at the back and the signature white sand beach at the front.
There are 37 air-conditioned rooms in the property, each having a veranda. The walls are treated with special paint to keep temperature comfortable and sound-proofed.
The beachfront is clean, and the resort also has a heated pool.

There are only two accommodation types at Amihan Beach Cabanas: one with total sea view, or one with partial sea view.
Amihan Beach Cabanas has beautiful airy bamboo cabanas lined up along the shore of Santa Fe in Bantayan. Each cabana has huge sliding glass doors for an unobstructed view of the ocean. The cabanas are equipped with a queen size bed, air conditioning (which you may opt not to use to get a slightly lower rate), ceiling fan, cable TV, bathroom with hot and cold-water shower and refrigerator. Each cabana also has a terrace.
The resort itself doesn't offer other amenities other than a roofdeck lounge and a restobar, but they will arrange tours and trips if requested.

The house a small pool and several lounge chairs overlooking the ocean, free WiFi, and cable TV. It's a bit far from town and public transportation is scarce, but the staff can arrange for transportation if you wish to move around Bantayan.

Another crowd favorite is Beach Placid Resort. Its spacious, well-ventilated rooms are perfect for big groups. Still, solo travelers or couples won't think twice about booking a place here as rates are some of the most affordable beachfront properties on Bantayan Island.
There are different room types you can book at the resort. There are a total of 22 airconditioned and non-airconditioned rooms that can accommodate anywhere from 2 to 10 people. There is also a house you can rent within the property, or a separate house 5 minutes away for more privacy.
Like most Bantayan Island resorts, Beach Placid has simple facilities an amenities consisting of an open air restaurant and shore-side lounge areas. It's also located near the Santa Fe pier, but the resort offers free transfers to and from the pier.
Notable for Beach Placid are their seafood dishes, which are most likely freshly caught in the morning. Service can be slow, however, as food is prepared and cooked as you order.

Roger is a little obsessed with travel. He has been to over 40 countries, broken 3 suitcases and owned over 10 backpacks in 12 months. What he doesn't know about travel, ain't worth knowing!
