Delsey Paris is one of the best luggage brands out there. They are more affordable than Samsonite, but they offer the same level of design quality, which is why we absolutely love them. And their Chatelet collection is one of their all-time best sellers!
This luggage is available in three standard sizes, and they all have the exact same features. The exterior of the bags is made from 100% virgin polycarbonate, with leather accents that give the luggage that fancy look.
This luggage also features a TSA-friendly lock, double spinner wheels with a brake system that prevents the suitcase from rolling off on its own, and a lightweight retractable wheel handle.
And if you didn’t fall in love with the exterior of the suitcase, you will definitely fall in love with its interior. The two packing compartments both have full panel zippered dividers with tie-down straps inside.
Additionally, those dividers have pockets on them so it’s super easy to stay organized when packing inside the Chatelet luggage.
On top of all that, this luggage also comes with some removable accessories. You get a couple of laundry/shoe bags to separate the dirty items from the clean ones, as well as a removable hanger.
One thing I want to point out is that I’ve seen a lot of people complain that their bags came indented. This is perfectly normal if you buy them online – they have to travel a long way, and people who handle them are not exactly gentle with them.
Since the suitcases are made from polycarbonate, you can just pop them back into shape – it is as simple as that. So, don’t panic if you see a small dent in the corner – take photos, and try to iron it out with your hands. And if that doesn’t work, it’s okay to start panicking.
If you want insanely durable luggage that can handle multiple trips a month with ease, the Rimowa Original Cabin suitcase is a great option for you. Its shell is made from aluminum, a material that can withstand pretty much anything. The shell might get dented or scratched somewhere, but it won’t break during travel.
One thing to keep in mind about aluminum luggage is that it is not indestructible. It often happens that the wheels fall off or that the handle breaks – these things happen with any luggage that is used often. But the shell won’t break, which is why these Rimowa suitcases are so popular with frequent travelers.
An obvious downside to this luggage is the weight. Aluminum suitcases are much heavier than polycarbonate and ABS hardshells, so they’re not the best for packing with weight restrictions in mind.
But that mostly applies to carry-ons – it’s much easier to stay below the max weight restrictions with checked baggage, even when you’re packing in a very heavy suitcase.
This is a zipperless suitcase, with two beefy, TSA-friendly locks. It features four super-smooth double spinner wheels, a strong telescopic wheel handle, and top and side carry handles.
The interior of the luggage is fully lined, and it consists of two packing compartments. Both are equipped with floating dividers, making it easier to pack, no matter what journey you have planned.
All in all, Rimowa luggage is the brand you go to if you want ultra-quality spinner luggage that will last you a lifetime!
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again – you can never go wrong with a Samsonite suitcase. They are one of the top luggage brands on the market, and their products rarely disappoint. The Solyte DLX is one of their best softside spinners, and it is available in three individual sizes, or as a three-piece set.
The suitcase is made from polyester fabric, with reinforced corners for improved durability. It features double-spinner wheels and a retractable wheel handle that locks into multiple height positions.
The three Solyte DLX suitcases are very similar, but they do have some unique features. The carry-on has a large Wetpak inside, whereas the bigger luggage features a small Wetpak plus two slip pockets.
In addition to that, the carry-on also has a USB charging port and a power bank compartment that you won’t find on the bigger luggage, as well as a smart sleeve in the back.
The smart sleeve is an incredibly useful feature – it lets you horizontally mount the spinner on top of a larger suitcase, making it super easy to move around with several pieces of luggage.
Apart from that, the interior of the three suitcases is very similar. The packing compartment is fully lined, with tie-down straps and a small zippered pocket inside. The top cover features a zippered pocket on top of the other pockets I already mentioned, and all three suitcases have expandable capacity.
On top of that, all three suitcases also feature two external pockets – a medium-sized one, and a small one.
Overall, the Solyte DLX is probably one of the best softside spinners you can get, in terms of functionality, durability, and general design. The only thing I’m not a big fan of is the weight – at a little over 7 lbs, the carry-on is actually pretty heavy.
Check out our detailed review on Samsonite Solyte DLX here.
If you’re looking for affordable luggage, AmazonBasics suitcases are always a good option. They are pretty cheap, but they actually perform surprisingly well, especially for the price.
The Pyramid suitcase is made from a cheap but durable ABS plastic, so it has decent impact resistance. It is quite thick and a little heavier than the competition, but that is why it will last.
This luggage features double spinner wheels, a TSA-friendly lock, a retractable wheel handle, and grippy top and side grab handles. It also has a patterned outer shell, which means that any scuffs and scratches it might sustain over time won’t be too visible.
The interior of the suitcase is fully lined, and it is divided into two packing compartments. One compartment has a full panel zippered divider, while the other one has simple elastic cross straps and a single zippered pocket. Additionally, the top compartment also has pockets on the divider – a smaller zippered one, and two versatile slip pockets.
We also loved that there is also an expandable zipper which gives you 15% more packing space. Great for when you buy more than you expected and have to come home with a full case!
The AmazonBasics roller luggage comes in 20” carry-on size as well as 36 and 30-inch check-in sizes. There are affordable luggage sets too.
Amazon is known for making great copies of successful designs and doing it for very low prices. This Basics model does just that and should last you for a while too.
Overall, it’s a great affordable suitcase and an awesome option for people who can’t afford to or just don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on spinner luggage.
Coolife is an affordable luggage brand, with some really great products. They make mid-range suitcases that are fairly inexpensive, but that actually perform very well. This one is made from a mixture of PC and ABS, with a brushed finish on the outer shell that makes all scuffs and scratches less visible.
Because the shell has some polycarbonate in it, it has much better impact resistance than a pure ABS suitcase. It still won’t bend fully like a pure PC shell, but it also won’t crack upon harder impact.
You can get this Coolife spinner suitcase in three standard sizes, which have very similar features. The largest spinner is the only one that has a unique feature, which is expandable capacity.
This luggage is equipped with a TSA-friendly lock, double spinner wheels, and a retractable wheel handle. The wheel handle can actually be locked in multiple heights, which is a big plus. And this is lightweight luggage – the carry-on weighs only 6 lbs, which is great for packing with weight restrictions in mind.
The Samsonite Winfield 2 is one of the best-selling spinner suitcases of all time. Its only fault is that it has single spinner wheels instead of double ones. However, it’s a Samsonite – you know that those single wheels will perform ten times better than the double spinner wheels of a much cheaper suitcase.
Despite the fact that Samsonite Winfield 3 exists, the Winfield 2 is still Samsonite’s best-selling suitcase. And that is because it is the perfect blend of durable and affordable. The luggage is made from polycarbonate, meaning that it has excellent impact resistance.
But it’s still not too expensive – a two-piece set will set you back some $200, which is actually really affordable for Samsonite.
The Winfield 2 collection features suitcases of three sizes, all of which have the exact same features. That includes a TSA-friendly lock, a retractable wheel handle, and expandable capacity.
The interior of this luggage consists of two fully lined packing compartments. The bottom compartment is equipped with tie-down straps, while the top one features a full panel zippered divider, as well as two zippered pockets.
The suitcases also feature top and side grab handles, which are sturdy and comfortable to hold.
You might be wondering what’s so special about these suitcases since they don’t really have any remarkable features. Well, the thing that’s great about them is the quality of the build. The Winfield 2 bags are all incredibly sturdy and durable and will last you for years to come. And their prices are pretty surprising, considering just how high quality these suitcases are.
Travelpro started out as a brand for pilots and flight attendants. This means that their luggage is designed to handle multiple trips a week, and it is perfectly suitable for frequent flyers. All of their luggage is made from premium materials, and it has some really convenient features.
This Crew 11 suitcase is made from high-quality ballistic nylon, with scratch-resistant DuraGuard coating. It has double spinner wheels and a retractable wheel handle that can be locked in multiple heights.
In addition to that, the wheel handle features the patented Contour Grip, which feels really natural and sturdy in your hand. There are also top and side grab handles that are made from leather, and which really make the suitcase look classy.
The exterior of this spinner wheel luggage also features leather corner reinforcements, as well as a couple of other leather accents.
Its interior is even more satisfying – the spacious main compartment is fully lined, and it has expandable capacity. There are two tie-down straps inside, as well as a suiter section that ensures your suits can travel with you wrinkle-free.
The actual packing compartment has two zippered pockets inside, as well as two large external compartments that help you stay organized while traveling.
The Crew 11 suitcases come in four sizes. They mostly have the same features, with the exception of the international carry-on – that suitcase has a dedicated power bank compartment which lets you charge your phone on the go. You won’t get that feature on any of the larger suitcases, so bear that in mind.
This Briggs & Riley suitcase is one of the most expensive spinners I’ve managed to find, but I had to feature it because I’m obsessed with its expansion system. But we’ll get to that – first, let’s talk about the more basic features of this luggage.
The suitcase is made from 1680D ballistic nylon, with an aluminum wheel handle and rubber spinner wheels. This bag also features a fiberglass frame, which makes it a lot more durable than your average nylon spinner suitcase.
It is available in six sizes total, three of which are actually carry-ons. So, depending on what airline you fly with most often, you can get a bag that’s tailored to their carry-on requirements. The bag is kind of heavy on its own – the 19” suitcase weighs almost 8.5 lbs, which is not ideal.
But a big part of that weight is the buckles for the CX expansion system. And let me tell you why I love it – you undo the buckles inside the bag, pack as much as you want inside, and then compress the luggage when it is zipped up.
This system lets you pack so much more clothes than you would normally be able to fit inside a suitcase this size, and you are still able to close it with very little effort!
On top of the premium materials and amazing expansion system, the Briggs & Riley spinner also features a height-adjustable wheel handle and multiple internal pockets for organization.
Plus, the suitcase has two external compartments as well, which are great for items you pack last minute or just items you want to have easily accessible while you’re traveling.
Yes, it’s an expensive piece of luggage. But it’s also one of the best suitcases for business travelers and frequent flyers, so definitely think about getting it if you can afford it.
If you want to get a really lightweight suitcase, I have to recommend this one
The suitcase is made from high-tensile fabric, with a fiberglass frame that increases its durability. But I still wouldn’t recommend it for air travel – it’s way too fragile to withstand frequent flights, especially since it is so thin and lightweight.
It is definitely more durable than it looks like, but I don’t think it’s durable enough to withstand landing on its corner.
This luggage features double spinner wheels and a very wide wheel handle. I actually love the wheel handle – it is designed so that it doesn’t protrude inside the packing compartment, and it doesn’t take away from the overall capacity of the suitcase. Instead, the tubes are on the sides of the luggage.
But there’s a downside to this – because of its design, you can’t extend this handle as high as you can extend a regular telescopic handle.
The interior of this spinner is pretty basic. It features a spacious packing compartment with tie-down straps and one pocket on the cover. There are no other pockets inside the suitcase, so it’s not really a great option for people that like to be organized while traveling.
On top of that, this suitcase has only one external compartment. Overall, it’s an amazing option if weight is your primary concern, especially considering the affordable price. I would recommend it for road trips and train travel, especially for those of you that are traveling alone, and don’t want to be weighed down by a 10lb+ suitcase.
Luggage doesn’t necessarily mean a suitcase. And if you’re open to trying something different, consider getting the High Sierra Spinner backpack. It is an incredibly versatile piece of luggage – something you will actually be able to use for your everyday errands, and not just for the occasional trip.
The backpack is carry-on sized, and it is equipped with double spinner wheels for easy manoeuvrability. It has a retractable wheel handle, a grab handle, and shoulder straps that let you carry it like a normal backpack.
The shoulder straps are stowable, so you can get them out of the way when you’re wheeling this bag around.
This bag is great for short trips and for all of you that like to be organized while traveling. It has one packing compartment for clothes, which features tie-down straps and a large zippered pocket. In addition to that, the bag has two other spacious compartments that you can use for whatever you want.
Maybe you want to pack extra clothes, or you want to use one of the compartments just for your tech – the important thing is that you have options.
The High Sierra luggage features external compression straps that let you tighten up the bag when it’s not fully packed. This makes it smaller, but also more compact, and ensures that the contents of the bag don’t move around a lot.
Another thing worth noting is that the backpack is partly made from high-density foam, which makes it more comfortable to wear, and which helps it retain its shape when empty. Plus, the exterior is coated for water resistance, making this luggage suitcase for all sorts of weather conditions.
The only downside I see on this bag is that it doesn’t have a cover you can put between your back and the wheels. It’s not going to be the most comfortable thing to wear on your back, but it might just blow you away with its functionality.

The first decision you should make is whether you want to get softside or hardside luggage. Each type has its pros and cons, so it’s really up to your personal preferences.
Softside suitcases are a bit more flexible, and they offer better organizational features. You normally get several external compartments on a softshell suitcase, in addition to pockets inside the actual luggage. Plus, it’s easier to forcefully close them if you go a little crazy when packing – which you should try to avoid doing, but if we’re being real it’s a problem we’ve all faced at one point.
In addition to that, softshells usually weigh less, so they are easier to work with if you have to pack with weight restrictions in mind. But, I would not recommend them for checked bags. It’s no secret that baggage handlers are supposed to be fast and efficient, which often means throwing around bags.
Softshell bags aren’t really designed to handle that, and it’s not so rare that you see them on the luggage carousel looking like a pitiful pancake. This is why I always recommend hardsides as checked luggage – they are more durable, they have better impact resistance and they’re actually designed to survive the tough love from baggage handlers.
So, once you’ve decided whether you want hardside or softside luggage, it’s time to look at the materials they’re made from.
With softside luggage, there aren’t that many choices – the bags are mostly made from nylon and polyester. Nylon is slightly better than polyester, but the difference is not that drastic. I would recommend that you primarily look for spinner luggage with a nylon exterior, but it’s perfectly fine to go with something that’s made from polyester.
The differences are more pronounced with hardsides, and you get more options. There are three main materials hardshell spinner luggage is made from – ABS, Polycarbonate, and Aluminum.
If you want virtually indestructible spinner luggage, I recommend you pick up a suitcase with an aluminum shell. These can withstand anything – the wheels and the handle might get damaged or broken at some point, but the actual packing compartment could outlive you. But, these bags are going to be very pricey – Rimowa is the champion of aluminum suitcases, but they often have price tags in the quadruple digits.
Polycarbonate is the second-best option, and my favorite overall. The material is bendy, and it has excellent impact resistance. Unlike ABS plastic, PC will bend upon impact, making it more durable, and a much better option for frequent flyers. But it’s also more expensive, so definitely not the go-to if you just want a quick and cheap solution.
ABS plastic is the material most hardshell spinners are made from, especially with cheaper high street brands. It’s a lot cheaper than a PC, which explains why you can get a hardside ABS suitcase for some $50.
These spinners are okay for people who don’t really fly too often – they can easily survive the occasional flight once or twice a year. I would recommend that you look for ABS suitcases that have reinforced corners, since they have really good impact resistance on their weakest points.
In general terms, double spinner wheels are always the better option. They perform better, they’re more durable, and they’re less likely to get stuck in crevices on roads and pavements.
If you travel a lot, you should definitely look for luggage with double spinner wheels. But if you only take out your suitcase a couple of times a year, then it’s okay to get a bag with single spinner wheels.
Here’s the thing – wheels are components of a suitcase that get worn out. Think of them as an eraser – the more you use it, the more you wear them out. And with frequent use over time, you wind up with that nasty blue eraser tip, which translates to wheel bearings in this scenario.
Another thing to note is that you should always pay attention to the type of pavement in front of you if you want to ensure the longevity of the wheels. Spinner wheels are designed for airports and smooth hotel floors, not cobblestone alleys and dirt paths. Pick up your suitcase on uneven terrain, and only use the wheels if you are able to move around with the luggage without tilting it.
Still not sure which of these bags is just right for you? Pick up one of our three top choices, or just go with your gut!
If you need a good hardside spinner, I recommend the Delsey Paris Chatelet. It’s an amazing suitcase made from durable polycarbonate, with an abundance of useful features.
The interior of the suitcase is equipped with two zippered dividers that have a total of three pockets, which is perfect for staying organized while you’re traveling. And the exterior of the luggage features leather handles and accents, making it a very classy bag!
Perhaps you’d rather get a softside spinner? In that case, go with the Samsonite SoLyte DLX. This spinner luggage is made from water-resistant polyester, it has an expandable capacity, a multi-stage wheel handle, and tough double spinner wheels.
The suitcase has multiple pockets inside – three in the carry-on and five in the two bigger bags. Plus, there are two external pockets that are great for items you want to have easily accessible or just stuff you remember last-minute.
If you want versatile spinner luggage, I have to recommend the High Sierra AT7 Backpack. It is a backpack with spinner wheels – that alone is enough to get you interested. The bag has multiple compartments for easy organization, a durable telescopic wheel handle, and stowable shoulder straps.
There’s also a tough grab handle on the front, which lets you carry it like a rolling duffel bag. This is luggage you can use not just for travel, but also for overnight trips, everyday errands, and even for those workdays when you can’t be bothered to carry everything on your shoulders.
That’s the best spinner luggage we recommend. But you’re fine getting any one of the bags featured in this review – all of them are made from premium materials and rated very highly by happy travelers. Go over to Amazon to see the prices and color options of all the spinner luggage featured here!
