This particular travel hoodie is by far the best option. If you want a sweatshirt that could practically replace the need for a personal bag on a plane, then this is the one to get. It has a total of 21 pockets, which is absolutely insane for a hoodie!
The majority of those pockets are internal ones, and they are mostly zippered. There’s even a pocket large enough to fit an iPad, as well as one for your smartphone, one for your camera, a media pocket, and so on.
One of the external pockets even has a key clip inside, so that you’re always safe from pickpockets!
This travel hoodie also comes with a chamois for cleaning your sunglasses, which is very useful. And when you get to a TSA checkpoint, you can just remove the hoodie, instead of emptying out all your pockets. Pretty cool and time-consuming, right?
The sweatshirt is made from cotton, so it is super breathable and suitable for warm weather. There’s also a microfleece version of it, which is a bit lighter, and better suited for colder months. So, choose wisely.
Another thing to note about this travel hoodie is that the size variety is not great. The smallest size that is available at the moment is Large, so not many options for those of you that have a smaller body.
But, they will likely update the stock, so be sure to check in a few days if they don’t have this in your size right now.
The Quikflip hoodie is the best option for those of you that want a hoodie for exploring new cities.
Why? Because it turns into a backpack, and you don’t have to carry it in your hands when you take it off! It won’t take up any extra space in your backpack or purse, or make them unnecessarily heavy.
This was actually named as one of the best inventions of 2019 by Time Magazine, so it’s definitely worth checking out. If only out of respect for the paper.
But it really is a great travel hoodie – it is made from French terry fabric, which is 60% cotton. It is very breathable, but still lightweight due to the high percentage of polyester.
Plus it’s super easy to clean – you can just throw it in the washing machine on a gentle cycle, and it will be good as new.
I’m assuming you’re wondering whether the “backpack straps” will be visible when you’re wearing the hoodie – they won’t.
They are hidden behind the lining; there’s actually a secret pouch inside the hoodie, which acts like the backpack. The great thing about this is that the pouch is made from water-resistant material, so even if it starts raining, the travel hoodie will stay dry.
And that pouch doubles as a hidden pocket, so you have extra space inside the hoodie for your more valuable items. Another cool thing about the hoodie is that it is unisex, so it’s great for both men and women. It is available in a few different colors (not a great range), and in a lot of different sizes up to 4XL.
The Amazon Essentials hoodie is nothing special – it’s a design you’ve seen a million times by a million different brands. So, it’s just a classic hoodie.
But it is a great option for travel for several reasons – it is made with a high percentage of cotton, so it is very breathable. In fact, some of the colors of the hoodie are made from 100% cotton, which is exactly what you should be looking for.
And it’s really cheap. The exact price depends on the color you want to get, but on average it is around $20. Considering that this exact hoodie shape costs about 5 times more with a different logo on it, that’s pretty amazing.
This is a zip-up travel hoodie, with a split kangaroo pocket on the outside. It does not have any internal pockets, which is a shame. But that’s pretty much the only thing that’s disappointing about the sweatshirt – everything else is really good.
It is machine washable, so cleaning it will be a breeze. And it is available in a variety of different colors and designs, from classic black to pink camo. I would recommend sticking with a neutral solid color for travel, but by all means, if you’re feeling brave, go for it!
The sweatshirt features a drawstring at the hood, so there is some sort of wind resistance to it. It also has elastic cuffs, but that’s it.
This won’t be incredibly warm, especially if you go for one of the travel hoodies that are made from 100% cotton. That means no fuzzy lining on the inside, and it is a bit rough. Therefore, it’s best for warmer months.
The Canyonlands hoodie is a good option if you’re specifically looking for a fleece hoodie. It is made entirely from recycled polyester, and it is very lightweight. This is great for travel because it won’t take up a lot of space in your suitcase, and it’s not that heavy if you just want to throw it in your backpack.
This is a zip-up hoodie, with a Vislon center zip. It is available in a wide variety of colors, so there are plenty of options for everyone. And the size variety is decent as well – the sizes range from S to XXL.
One thing I really like about this travel hoodie is that all of its pockets are zippered. There are two lower ones, which is pretty standard. And there is also a roomy chest pocket, which can easily fit even the larger smartphones of today.
The downside of the TNF hoodie is that it is not really wind-resistant, so I wouldn’t recommend it for outdoor outings. There’s no drawstring at the hood, and the cuffs aren’t elastic.
Another thing to keep in mind is that, even though this is really lightweight, it’s not a great option for warm weather. The fleece isn’t too breathable; it’s actually pretty warm, so this hoodie is best for colder weather.
Actually, the Canyonlands travel hoodie is great to wear under a windbreaker or a thin, waterproof jacket – it will keep you sufficiently warm in cold weather, while the outer layer protects you from the rain or snow.
SCOTTeVest is a great brand that is all about travel security, especially when it comes to clothing.
The Chloe Glow Hoodie is a really good option for travel because it is comfortable, secure and really packed with pockets – 18 of them to be exact!
It is made from a super comfy Cotton/Poly/Spandex blend with an athletic style making it great for a day out in the town, or for some activities at your new destination.
It’s a great option for travel because of all the different pockets it has. Everything from sunglasses and your ID, to a tablet or phone, a key hanger, and one to throw in the kitchen sink! Just kidding. It is big though.
In addition to that, this travel hoodie has two external pockets including a hand-warmer and thumb loops, so you know it’s good to go in cold weather as well.
It comes in four different colors and looks stylish to boot. So, you can wear it for just about any occasion.
If you want a hoodie that doesn’t really look like a hoodie (like so many of us do), this is a really good option. The Zeagoo travel hoodie is long, wide and features an asymmetric hem, which makes it the perfect addition to any outfit.
It looks more like a lightweight coat than a travel hoodie, so you could even pull it off with a summer dress. Or just leggings – it is pretty short in the front, but it will do a great job of covering your backside if that’s what you want.
And it still has some of the essential hoodie features, like the two external pockets and the big, wide hood.
Now, this isn’t really the most functional hoodie in the world – it only has the two pockets, and nothing about it is wind resistant. Even the sleeves are wider than usual, so definitely avoid wearing this in windy weather, unless you want to have a Marilyn Monroe moment.
The good thing about this hoodie is that you could wear it in warm weather because it is pretty wide. It’s not a slim-fitting sweatshirt, so you won’t get too warm while you’re wearing it.
But, since it is mostly made from polyester, I wouldn’t recommend this during the hotter months. The breathability isn’t really there, and sweaty backs aren’t really trending this spring.
This travel hoodie comes in a few different colors, including options that have velvety accents. And the size variety is decent as well – it goes up to XXL, which is pretty good considering that this is an oversized travel hoodie.
Not all great travel hoodies are lightweight and practical. Some are bulky, thick, and can’t even fit into your suitcase. But what makes them great is that they are incredibly soft and comfortable, that they feel like you’re wearing a warm hug. And that’s exactly what makes the Dokotoo hoodie special.
If you want something that will keep you extra comfortable on a 12+ hour flight or train ride, this is the hoodie to get. Especially for colder weather, since this hoodie is pretty much just a small fuzzy blanket with sleeves and a couple of pockets.
As is standard for blankets, it is largely made from polyester, with some spandex in there to make it a little bit stretchy. It is definitely not breathable, and you will sweat bullets if you try to wear it when it’s hot outside.
But the great thing about it is that you could actually pull off wearing this on a night out. The interesting design doesn’t make it obvious that it’s a hoodie, and it could go well with anything, from basic leggings to a little black dress.
This travel hoodie has a really wide hood, which is really snuggly. But it has zero wind resistance, so I would think twice about wearing this if it’s windy outside. Especially since there’s no zipper on the front to ensure that it stays closed.
Additionally, there are only two pockets on it. They’re both open, and not very useful if you’re looking to keep something inside them. But great if you just want to warm up your hands.
The ReFire Gear travel sweatshirt is a great option for men who want a warm, fleece hoodie.
It’s actually a tactical hoodie, with a total of seven pockets – all are external, and all are zippered. That means there’s plenty of space for items you want to have in person at all times, whether you’re boarding a plane or just walking around foreign cities.
This travel hoodie is made entirely from polyester, so it’s not the most breathable option. But it is a good goodie for cold weather since fleece is really warm. And it is super soft, so you will always be really comfortable in this travel hoodie.
Since it’s made from polyester, it is actually a really lightweight hoodie. This makes it perfect for travel because it won’t weigh you down too much while you’re out and about. And it won’t take up a lot of space in your suitcase.
The zipper goes all the way up to the hood, which is enough to keep the wind out of your face. Additionally, the cuffs are also pretty tight, so the overall wind resistance of this travel hoodie is decent.
There are several color options, most of which are neutral and would go with everything in your suitcase. The size variety is also good, but keep in mind that this hoodie runs small – go for a size up if you want a comfortable and slightly looser fit.
What would you say to a hoodie with a built-in heating pad, which can keep you warm up to ten hours? That’s why the Ororo travel hoodie is such a special option – it has three heating zones that you control with the push of a button.
This means you won’t ever be cold again at night if you couldn’t be bothered to bring a proper jacket.
You might have seen this in a winter jacket – this heating system has become really popular over the years, and there are not several different brands that come out with clothes that have built-in heating pads. This includes jackets, vests, gloves, pants, and most importantly, hoodies.
This is a unisex hoodie, so it’s a great choice for both men and women. And there are three different levels of warmth you can achieve with it, so it’s pretty versatile when it comes to when you can actually use it.
The Ororo travel hoodie only has two pockets, so it is definitely not the most functional option in that sense. But it is really comfortable – the exterior of the hoodie is mostly made from cotton, while the interior features soft, polyester lining.
Additionally, this hoodie is machine washable, which was the biggest surprise to me. However, the brand states that it can survive more than 50 machine wash cycles, so I would try not to wash it too often.
That is a pretty low number for something you will wear often, even if you wash it only after three or four uses.
The Hanes Sport hoodie is another great option for women.
It is made from polyester and it’s pretty thin and lightweight, so it won’t take up much space in your suitcase. This makes it great for travel, especially because the fleece will keep you very warm.
The fabric is actually designed to wick away moisture, so even though it’s not super breathable, it will keep you from getting too sweaty. And with elastic cuffs, thumbholes, and a zip that goes all the way up to the hood, it also has really good wind resistance.
This travel hoodie has two front pouch pockets, which aren’t the most functional. And there are no internal pockets, so it’s definitely not the pick if you want to be able to keep stuff in person. But if you’re just looking for something feather-light and cozy, it’s the hoodie to get.
This is actually a great option for workouts and outdoor outings – since it’s pretty thin, it works great as a middle layer, beneath a light outdoor jacket. The moisture-wicking fabric will keep you dry during your workouts, which is a pretty big plus.
The size variety of this travel hoodie is pretty good – it goes up to XXL. But it is a loose-fitting hoodie and it runs somewhat large; if you’re looking for a slim fit, definitely go a size down.
The main downsides of the Hanes women’s hoodie are the color variety – the only neutral option is black. All the other colors are pretty vibrant, so not great if you want to wear them with a variety of different outfits.
The best hoodies are the ones that are so comfortable that you feel like you are wearing a hug. They’re the best clothes to wear on long and tiring journeys since they will help you feel a little more comfortable after long hours in a cramped seat.
But you should look at the hoodie materials carefully. A high percentage of cotton is always a good thing, and if you’re able to get a hoodie that is entirely made of cotton that’s great. But keep in mind that cotton hoodies aren’t really stretchy, and won’t feel super soft. That’s because the fluffy lining which makes most hoodies really soft is usually polyester.
Another thing to keep in mind is that cotton is the most breathable material and the one that is least likely to irritate your skin even if you get sweaty. This is especially important if you’re looking to go hiking or engage in any outdoor activities while you’re traveling.
Additionally, think about what season the hoodie is best for. Thicker hoodies that have a fuzzy lining on the inside are normally really warm, and they’re best for colder days and nights. Don’t pick up a fleece hoodie if you’re traveling in the summer – there won’t be an opportunity to wear it!
But do pick up a fleece hoodie if you’re traveling in winter or late autumn, and want something lightweight to keep you warm.
The difference between a hoodie and a travel hoodie is packability. I normally have to leave my favorite hoodie at home whenever I travel somewhere because it takes up nearly half of my carry-on suitcase. So, I usually go with the one that is more lightweight and packable, since that allows me to pack more economically.
Great travel hoodies are thin and lightweight, but sufficiently warm. Fleece hoodies are usually a great option if you want something really warm and comfy – the material is really cozy, but still pretty thin.
On the other hand, if you want a soft and chunky hoodie, then your best option is to just wear it while you’re on the road. That way you can avoid it taking up the majority of your suitcase, but still have something cozy to keep you warm.
Let’s be real – it’s important that you actually like a hoodie. What’s the point of buying something that you’re not going to wear?
But that’s not even the main thing; with travel hoodies, it’s important that you get something that will complement the rest of the clothes in your suitcase. So, before you actually buy any of the hoodies I’ve shown you, really think about what you’re usually packing for your trips. What’s the dominant color?
And then, pick out something that will go along with everything. Black is usually the safest option, and gray is a close second. White might seem like a good idea, but if you’re anything like me, you will get coffee stains all over it while you’re still at the airport or the train station.
Pockets aren’t usually something we look for in hoodies – we’re used to them having one or two external pockets, and that’s it. But a really good travel hoodie should have more of them, so that you have enough space for all your travel necessities – boarding pass, phone, wallet, passport, etc.
This is essential for people who don’t like keeping these items in a personal bag and prefer to have them in pants’ pockets or in their hands. I did manage to find some hoodies that have loads of pockets, so definitely check those out first. Others are pretty standard – after all, there aren’t many sweatshirts with 20+ pockets out there!
Can’t pick out just one of these great travel hoodies? That’s okay – stick with one of our top choices, depending on what exactly you’re looking for, and you won’t have any regrets!
If you want a travel hoodie with plenty of pockets, the best option by far is the ScottEVest cotton hoodie. It has a total of 21 different pockets, which is more than enough space for everything you might want to carry on you.
Plus, it is a cotton hoodie, so it’s a good option for both cold and warm weather. The material is very breathable, easy to clean, and comfortable to wear.
Those of you that are sick and tired of having to carry a hoodie in your hand when they take it off should pick up the Quikflip backpack hoodie. It’s the best choice for exploring new cities because you can transform it into a backpack!
This is a unisex sweatshirt, so it’s suitable for everyone, with a really great size range that goes up to 4XL. And the pocket that acts as a backpack for the hoodie is water-resistant, so it won’t get wet if you get caught in the rain.
The best hoodie for ladies is the Pacsafe Transit Hoodie. It’s warm, cozy, and comfortable, with the benefit of being an anti-theft hoodie.
This sweatshirt actually features a total of five external and three internal pockets, some of which are even RFID safe. This includes zippered pockets for your phone, passport, sunglasses, but also some necessary accessories – like a pen slot and a cord pass-through point for your headphones.
Head over to Amazon to see the prices and pick out your favorite color of the top three travel hoodies we recommend. Or of any hoodie you saw in this review – all of them deserved to be here because they really are top of the line.
