Features Of The Osprey Quasar 28 Backpack

The Quasar 28 has a lot of different features, which make it highly functional. Whether you are looking for a backpack for school or for one for camping, this one would be a great companion!

Padded Electronics Sleeve

Quasar Laptop Sleeve

This Osprey backpack has a designated padded sleeve for your laptop or tablet. It is in the back of the main compartment, and it is quite easily accessible. However, the laptop cannot be secured in any way in this sleeve – no zipper or even some elastic straps to keep in place.

The length of the sleeve is 36cm, which translates to some 14 inches. This means that the sleeve won’t fit your regular 15.6” laptop, which really is a shame. If that was one of your big concerns, I advise you to check out these Swiss Gear backpacks – both of them will definitely fit a laptop of that size.

Front Bungee Compression System

This feature is one of the things that makes the function of this backpack convertible. Whether you need more storage space for a book or for your hiking gear, the front bungee compression system provides it – it can even be stretched enough to fit a helmet.

You can see how to utilize this part of the backpack in this video:

As you can see, the straps can easily be secured to the lower part of the backpack, which is actually a very thoughtful design feature. And not to mention useful – we’ve all run out of storage space in our backpacks at one point, and I cannot begin to tell you how annoyed I get when I have to carry my jacket in my hands or around my waist. That’s why I’m a big fan of this feature.

In addition to that, these elastic laces also have an LED attachment point – an incredibly useful feature for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors in the dark or commuting home by bike.

A Lot Of Different Pockets

If you like to keep your things organized, then I know you’ll love this backpack. The Quasar features 7 interior slip pockets, 2 interior zippered pockets and 4 exterior ones. That’s right, the 13 different pockets will definitely allow you to showcase your awesome organizational skills. :>

The scratch-free pocket is meant to keep your phone or your sunglasses safe, and it’s one of the exterior pockets. However, that shouldn’t worry you – it is barely noticeable because the zipper pullers are cleverly hidden. A very clever design feature to keep your electronics safe and out of sight.

There are also 2 exterior side pockets most likely designed to hold a bottle of water or a small umbrella. A common problem with these pockets (on other backpacks) is that whenever you bend over, the water bottle will fall out. But, that won’t happen with the Quasar because Osprey cleverly put two buckle belts over these pockets that will keep whatever you put in them in place.

The main compartment of this backpack is very roomy, and it can fit plenty of items. Apart from the laptop sleeve, it also features an integrated organizer and many different pockets – both slip and zippered ones. An internal document sleeve is included, as well as a key attachment clip.

And All The Different Straps

The Quasar has 2 padded, adjustable shoulder straps that can be secured together with an adjustable sternum strap. I really like that they included this features, because I always have a problem with one of the straps sliding off my shoulder. And with a laptop in your backpack, you definitely do not want that to happen.

carry strap is also included, for when you want switch things up a little and carry the Quasar in your hands.

What other straps could there possibly be on this backpack? Compression straps! I already mentioned the ones that go over the side pockets, but there are also compression straps that go over the main compartment. This will further secure your load, and it can also act as an anti-theft feature because it makes the backpack harder to unzip without you noticing. Additionally, these straps will further secure the load of your backpack, and ensure that everything stays in its place.

Is The Osprey Quasar The Right Choice For You?

If you are looking for an everyday backpack that can safely and comfortably store all your gear – it certainly is. It is also great for anyone who likes to get outdoors too. The Quasar has a ton of cool features that will make your life outside much easier, such as the sternum strap as well as the various different pockets.
