Solgaard Backpacks Review: Are They Any Good?

Solgaard Lifepack Backpack

The Lifepack backpack is Solgaard’s take on a classic everyday carry bag. It’s supposed to be a versatile bag that can accompany you anywhere, from the office to the beach. The pack is made from Shore-Tex, a durable material developed by Solgaard from recycled ocean plastic.

The pack features padding and breathable mesh in the back panel and shoulder straps, for maximum carrying comfort. It’s even got an anti-theft lock with a coil design, for peace of mind when traveling.

The Lifepack has a spacious main compartment with padded sleeves for a laptop and a tablet. The laptop sleeve can fit 15.6” devices and even some 17” laptops, depending on their width. It’s worth noting that the laptop compartment features thick padding at the bottom, which will protect your device if you ever drop the backpack.

There’s also a front compartment with an organizer panel and a key clip, and it’s great for items you want to keep more easily accessible. The backpack also features a dedicated power bank pocket, zippered side pockets, a hidden pocket in the back panel, and two hidden pockets in the shoulder straps.

The power bank pocket is designed to fit Solgaard’s solar power banks, and there’s even a cut-out in the material that allows them to charge while you’re wearing the backpack. It’s a convenient feature for sure, but keep in mind that their power banks are just as expensive as the backpack alone.

Other notable features of the Solgaard Lifepack include a luggage strap and a carabiner attachment point on the shoulder strap.

Solgaard Lifepack Endeavor Backpack

The Lifepack Endeavor backpack is a very interesting option with features incorporated from other Solgaard luggage. The backpack is available in two sizes (medium and large), and either size comes with Solgaard’s removable closet. If you like the idea of the brand’s Carry-On Closet suitcase but prefer backpacks, this is certainly an interesting option.

Also, I honestly think the backpack is the better option than the suitcase, mostly because the suitcase can’t fit too many other items in addition to the hanging closet. It’s the same with the backpack, but the body of this Solgaard bag is significantly smaller than the body of the suitcase, and they both manage to fit a similar amount of stuff.

The backpack features an expandable capacity, so at most, you can fit 35 liters inside it. That’s a very generous capacity for a backpack, although I must point out that the bag will likely not be accepted as a carry-on when expanded.

This bag also has a dedicated laptop pocket with thick padding at the bottom, a total of four hidden pockets for easy access to your most important items, a scratch-free pocket for sunglasses, and an organizer for cables. It’s got a sternum strap and a luggage strap in the back, plus the entire back system features padding and ventilation for excellent carrying comfort.

Overall, this is a solid backpack and the closet is a great feature, but you need to keep in mind that the closet will take up nearly all the space in your backpack. The other pockets can only fit your essentials and electronics, so only consider these Solgaard bags if you’re a pro at traveling light.

Solgaard Circular Backpack

Solgaard Circular backpack is a really good everyday carry option. Unlike the other bags, this backpack features a very simple design with one main compartment and lots of secret pockets. There are three external pockets on this bag, and I didn’t notice any of them at first glance, which is pretty cool.

What’s better is that the interior of the backpack features even more pockets. There’s dedicated laptop storage inside the main compartment, as well as a tablet sleeve and a pocket for a GPS tracker. The backpack also features an organizer panel with a key clip inside, allowing you to find a dedicated spot for everything you want to carry in the bag.

This Solgaard backpack features a secret water bottle pocket on the side and a luggage sleeve. It doesn’t have a USB charging port but there is a power cord pass-through point that allows you to charge your phone while the power bank remains inside the bag.

The Circular backpack is entirely manufactured from recycled PET. It features a padded back panel covered with breathable mesh, for excellent carrying comfort. The adjustable shoulder straps are also padded and ventilated, and it’s worth noting that the bag doesn’t feature a chest strap or a hip belt. I don’t think that’s a downside because those features are not really necessary on backpacks with a small capacity.

On top of that, it’s worth noting that this backpack is also a good option for travel. It’s small enough that it will fit under most airplane seats, so it makes for a great personal item. The organizational features are awesome for travel because you have easy access to all your essentials, plus the bag is very lightweight.

Solgaard Shore-Tex Lifepack

The Shore-Tex Lifepack Lite backpack is a variation of the brand’s classic Lifepack bag and the best option for travelers who are not interested in Solgaard’s power banks. The main appeal of the standard Lifepack is that it has a dedicated pocket for Solgaard’s power bank that allows it to charge while you’re on the go.

If you already have a power bank and you’re perfectly happy with it, then this backpack is the better option for you. It has many of the same features as the standard Lifepack, but there are also some improvements.

The main compartment is very spacious and it’s the star of the bag. Inside it, you’ll find a heavily padded laptop sleeve with extra cushioning at the bottom, as well as a dedicated tablet sleeve. That’s on the back side of the main compartment; in the front, there’s an organizer panel with loads of smaller pockets. The organizational features of this backpack are awesome, and precisely what makes it such a great EDC bag.

The bag has another organizer in the front compartment, for any items you want to keep separate but still easily accessible. There’s plenty of storage space inside this compartment as well, plus it’s where you’re supposed to put the power bank if you want to take advantage of the USB port in the side pocket.

The Shore-Tex Lifepack features two zippered side pockets (which can fit a water bottle), four hidden pockets throughout the bag, and a bottle opener integrated into the carry handle. Just like the regular Lifepack, this backpack also has an anti-theft lock for extra security.

Solgaard Shore-Tex Daypack

The Shore-Tex Daypack is Solgaard’s most affordable backpack and an excellent option if you want a simple bag for everyday use. This looks and feels like the most basic backpack you’ve ever seen, but it’s also got loads of useful features that are hidden from the naked eye.

Just like every other Solgaard backpack, the bag is made from recycled, ocean-bound plastic. It’s got comfortable and ergonomic shoulder straps, as well as thick padding and breathable mesh in the back system. This bag is very comfortable to wear and a luggage strap in the back allows you to secure it on top of a suitcase.

The packing compartment is very spacious and features a padded laptop sleeve, a tablet sleeve, and an organizer panel for smaller items. It’s worth noting that this bag has a capacity of 21 liters, so it’s larger than Solgaard’s other daypacks.

There are also water bottle pockets on the sides, as well as a zippered pocket with a key clip on the front panel. And, just like the other Solgaard packs, this bag also features hidden pockets for your most valuable items.

Overall, this is a really good EDC bag that can easily double as your personal item for air travel. The backpack is small enough to fit under the seat on most bigger planes, and it’s got enough storage space for all the items you would want to keep inside the cabin.
