What Is An EID and How Do You Find It?

Wondering what an EID is and where exactly on your phone it is located?

We explain it all in simple terms below.

What is an EID Number?

EID stands for Embedded SIM Identifier and is a unique identifier composed of 32 characters found in a variety of modern devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and wearable technology.

EID numbers play a critical role in eSIM management, enabling telecommunications providers to configure and control eSIM profiles on a device remotely.

This functionality of an EID and eSIMS allows users to seamlessly switch between service providers and plans without manually replacing SIM cards. This offers a practical and flexible solution for frequent travelers or those who appreciate the simplicity of changing carriers without dealing with physical SIM cards.

How to Find An EID Number

Finding the EID number of your phone varies by model and make of your phone or other eSIM-compatible device.

However, we have compiled a list of general steps to help you find your EID number on most devices:

iPhone or iOS device

  1. Go to “Settings” on your iPhone.
  2. Choose “General.”
  3. Tap on “About.”
  4. Scroll down until you see “EID.”

The number next to EID is your eSIM’s EID number.

Android Devices

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Open “About phone” or “About device.”
  3. Tap on “Status” or “SIM status.”
  4. Scroll down and search for “EID”, “IMEI,” or possibly “ICCID.”

If you are unable to locate your EID you will want to go to the phone manufacturer’s website for further details.
