Best Heated Gloves

Cold hands are the worst. Fumbling around trying to unzip your bag, sending a tonne of typos, not being able to turn your key in the door… winter can be a nightmare. And you don’t want the cold to take the fun out of frosty activities such as building snowmen, skiing, or motorcycling at altitude (just to name a few!). Plus, if you have a medical condition, such as sore joints, the cold isn’t just inconvenient, it can be really painful too.

Our Top Picks

But fear not, if you’re fearful of cold hands and are looking for a way to keep your hands warm this winter, we’ve got you covered. Heated gloves are a fairly new concept, but they’ve been around for long enough for some pretty good designs to hit the marketplace.

Chemically heated gloves contain a bunch of different elements that, when exposed to air, are ‘activated’ and produce heat for a certain amount of time. Alternatively, many heated gloves are powered by electricity. On top of that, you can find heated gloves, mittens, glove liners, and more in stores and online nowadays.

With so many options, choosing the right pair of heated gloves (or mittens) can be a daunting task. That’s why we’ve brought you this list of the best heated gloves around, weighed up their pros and cons, and summarized some things to look out for when you’re shopping around. Get ready for the coziest winter of your life!

Aroma Season Heated Gloves

And now for another one of our favorites, the Aroma Season Heated Gloves.

These gloves feature an impressive network of heated wires – they cover the front and back of the palms and they surround the fingers (although not the thumbs). Plus, with three heat settings and powered by a 7.4V rechargeable battery, they’ll keep you toasty for hours. We also love that it takes just 5 seconds for the heat to kick in – perfect for when you need that instant warm-up.

With dual cords around the wrist (and a buckle for added security) and made mainly of cotton, these gloves will be super comfy too. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t stand up to the elements – they feature a 3-layer, 100% waterproof Hipora insert, winning. Oh, and the fingertips are touchscreen compatible too and there’s a reflective panel on the back for visibility.

They’re a little limited in their size options, but they’re probably the best gloves out there for super speedy all-around heat coverage and, the best part is, they’re surprisingly affordable!

Pros

  • Fantastic all-around heat coverage
  • Heat up rapidly
  • Dual cords and buckle closure
  • Waterproof and comfortable
  • Touchscreen-compatible fingertips
  • Great features at an affordable price

Cons

  • No heating around the thumb
  • Only four sizes available

Product Information

  • Sizes: S, M, L, XL
  • Material: 100% cotton jersey; Hipora insert
  • Gender: Male and female
  • Closure: Cords and buckle
  • Power source: Rechargeable lithium ion batteries x 2 (7.4V, 3000mAh)

SNOW DEER Upgraded Heated Gloves

Upgraded Heated Gloves Men Women,Ski Motorcycle Electric Battery Mittens Gloves (S)

The first item to make it on to our hit list is the SNOW DEER Upgraded Heated Gloves.

Constructed of sheep leather and polyester on the outside, these gloves are naturally resistant to water. The inside is super comfortable thanks to the fleece lining and insulating yet breathable cotton AND it features a waterproof membrane. Plus, the adjustable velcro cuffs mean that these gloves will keep out pesky drafts too.

But now for the deal breaker.. they have three heat settings, selected via an easy-to-use controller on the back of the hands, with each setting indicated by its own LED color (red, white, or blue). The heated wires span the entire backs of the hands and extend to just below the fingertips – oh, and those fingertips can be used on touch screens so you won’t have to take off your glove to send messages, yay.

We also love that these gloves are powered by a rechargeable source (rechargeable lithium ion batteries, included with a charger), so you don’t have to keep buying disposable batteries. This charge will last you up to 6.5 hours, which is more than many cheaper alternatives (granted, they aren’t the cheapest pair of gloves).

And if that wasn’t enough, the cuffs are cinchable and there’s a buckle to keep your gloves paired so you’re less likely to lose one. These battery heated gloves are pretty bulky, so they aren’t the best for popping in a small bag, but if heat and convenience is your top priority, then they’re a great choice.

Pros

  • Three heat settings and a simple controller
  • Waterproof
  • Smartphone-compatible fingertips
  • Rechargeable batteries that last a while
  • Adjustable wrists

Cons

  • Slightly expensive
  • Bulky

Product Information

  • Material: Sheep leather and polyester
  • Gender: Men and women
  • Sizes: XS-XXXL
  • Closure: Cord
  • Power source: Rechargeable lithium ion battery

Savior Heated Gloves

SAVIOR HEAT Heated Gloves for Men Women, 3M Thinsulate Rechargeable Electric Heated Waterproof Leather Skiing and Snowboarding Gloves (XL)

The main selling point of the Saviour Heated Gloves is their construction – the combination of lambskin and polyester means that these gloves provide a great mixture of dexterity and durability. This makes them great for winter activities that require some nimbleness of the hand, such as snowball fights, sledging, or even hiking with poles.

Powered by lithium ion batteries, these gloves feature three heat settings and wires that cover the back of the hands and fingers – enough to warm you up in less than a minute, yay. Polus, the buckle closure and cinchable cord at the hem will keep you protected from the wind, while the polyester construction will repel water.

They’re super comfy too thanks to the fleece liner… if only the fingertips were screen compatible – we’d never take them off! These battery heated gloves are a little pricey, but the high-quality materials and durable design make them worth the investment – oh, and they come with 1-year of quality assurance too.

Pros

  • Supple yet durable
  • Three heat settings
  • 1-year quality assurance
  • Secure closure with buckle and cord
  • Comfortable lining

Cons

  • Fingertips aren’t touchscreen compatible
  • Slightly expensive

Product Information

Best Pair For Warmth

Volt Tatra Heated Gloves

If you’re after a pair of battery heated gloves that can provide all-day warmth (well, 8 hours), then look no further than the Volt Tatra Heated Gloves.

Powered by rechargeable batteries, these gloves offer four heat settings to make sure you can find the temperature that’s right for you. With the lowest setting, you can keep your hands warm for a whopping 8 hours, which is the best we’ve seen so far. If you’re keen to conserve battery, but like things a little hotter, we recommend opting for a blast of warmth at first, then switching to a lower setting to maintain the heat.

But even the lowest setting should keep you warm enough thanks to the amazing heat elements – they cover the front and back of the palm, fingers, and thumb – the best coverage we’ve come across in our investigations! They’re lacking a buckle closure, but the velcro and cord fasteners should be enough to keep cold wind at bay, and the waterproof membrane will keep you dry too.

They are slightly on the expensive side, but it’s easy to see why.  We’re sorry to say that they’re designed for men but, don’t worry ladies, there’s a similar female model. Overall, these gloves offer incredible heat and battery life if you’re willing to make the investment.

Pros

  • Four heat settings
  • Fantastic wire coverage for all-around heat
  • Impressive battery life
  • Waterproof

Cons

  • No buckle closure
  • Expensive
  • Designed for males only

Product Information

  • Sizes: S-XXL
  • Material: Leather and nylon
  • Gender: Male
  • Closure: Cord
  • Power source: 7.4v 2200mah rechargeable lithium ion battery x 2
  • Battery life: 8 hours

GLOBAL VASION Heated Gloves

GLOBAL VASION Electric Heated Gloves with Rechargeable Batteries Gloves Waterproof Thermal Gloves Touchscreen for Skiing Walking Hiking Climbing Driving Cold Weather Gloves

If you’re searching for a pair of heated gloves that won’t break the bank, then you’re in the right place. The GLOBAL VASION Heated Gloves feature everything you need – three heat levels, waterproof fabric, and buckle closure – all at a very reasonable price.

Like all the gloves we’ve looked at so far, they’re powered by rechargeable lithium ion batteries with good battery life and feature a simple controller on the back of the hand.

We wish that the heated wires extended beyond the back of the hand into the fingers for that extra bit of warmth, but they’ll keep you warm nonetheless. Also, only the index fingers are touchscreen-compatible, which is fine for simple functions but doesn’t give you total freedom with your phones or other gadgets. Plus, although they say the sizes are suited to all, we wish there were a few more available.

However, overall, these gloves will certainly get the job done, and they offer all the most important features of heated gloves at a great price.

Pros

  • Three heat settings
  • Good battery life
  • Waterproof fabric
  • Secure buckle and cord closure
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Only index-fingers are touchscreen compatible
  • Heated wires cover backs of hands only
  • Few sizes available

Product Information

  • Sizes: L, XL
  • Material: Synthetic shell, cotton lining
  • Gender: Male and female
  • Closure: Cord and buckle
  • Power source: 7.4V Rechargeable batteries 3200mA x 2
  • Battery life: 6-6.5 hours

SNOW DEER Heated Mittens

SNOW DEER Heated Mittens Gloves for Men and Women, 7.4V 2200MAH Electric Rechargeable Battery Ski for Winter Skiing Skating Snow Camping Hiking Heated Arthritis Hand Warmer Gloves(3XL)

We’re super excited to introduce you to the SNOW DEER Heated Mittens, the first and last pair of mittens to make it on to our hit list.

The heating elements work their way across the back of the hand right up to the ‘mittentips’ to make sure you stay nice and toasty. We also like that they’re very breathable, so your hands can stay both warm and dry, no matter which heat setting you choose. Plus, the polyester fabric is water-resistant (but not fully waterproof) and the buckle and cord closure will keep drafts out, and the fleece lining boosts both heat and comfort levels.

A general benefit of mittens is that you have more freedom to wiggle your fingers around inside to generate extra heat. Plus, mittens are ideal for handling poles and this, combined with the grippy leather on the palm, makes them great for clutching at hiking or skiing poles.

We absolutely love the stash pocket on these gloves – you can pop your keys and cards in there no problem – and the reflective panels will keep you visible while you’re out and about

Overall, these mittens are a great way to keep your hands warm and they clearly have some advantages over traditional heated gloves.

Pros

  • Grippy material on palms is great for poles
  • Stash pocket for valuables
  • Good battery life
  • Three heat settings

Cons

  • Slightly expensive
  • Not fully waterproof

Product Information

  • Sizes: XS-XXXL
  • Material: Sheep leather and polyester
  • Gender: Male and female
  • Closure: Cord and buckle
  • Power source: 7.4V 2200MAH Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries
  • Battery life: 6 hours

SAVIOR HEAT Motorcycle Gloves

SAVIOR HEAT Heated Motorcycle Gloves for Men & Women, Waterproof Windproof, Touchscreen Compatible, 7.4V Rechargeable Battery Gloves Winter Outdoor Riding, Cycling, Snowmobile

Considering that they have three heat settings, a waterproof and wind-resistant outer layer, and a layer of insulating cotton, the SAVIOR HEAT Motorcycle Gloves are surprisingly slim. This, combined with the non-slip grip on the palm, is what makes them so well-suited for cruising on two wheels – you can keep warm and still get a decent hold of the handlebar.

On top of that, they also feature a carbon fiber case across the back of the knuckles to protect you from any bumps and scrapes, and the Velcro closure allows for rapid donning. The heat elements cover the backs of hands and fingers, and the lambskin is resistant to water and wind (although it’s not fully waterproof).

They are quite pricey, but they come with a 1-year warranty which helps a little. The fingers aren’t touchscreen compatible either, although we guess you shouldn’t be on your phone while driving anyway.

With rechargeable batteries and a decent battery life, if motorcycling is your thing and you hate cold hands, then look no further.

Pros

  • Warm yet slim
  • Sturdy knuckle protectors
  • 1-year warranty
  • Grippy palms

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Not fully waterproof
  • fingertips aren't touch screen compatible

Product Information

  • Sizes: XS-3XL
  • Material: Lambskin, synthetic
  • Gender: Male and female
  • Closure: Velcro
  • Power source: 2200MAH rechargeable lithium ion batteries x 2

Best Casual Pair

HotHands Heated Fleece Glove

HotHands Heated Fleece Glove / Mittens (Black, Medium/ Large)

Last but by no means least on our list are the HotHands Heated Fleece Gloves. These are a great alternative to the thicker heated gloves for several reasons. Firstly, they’re a lot less bulky (and a lot lighter), so they’re way easier to pop into a bag or pocket for emergencies. Secondly, you don’t have to pre-plan – these gloves rely on chemical heat patches that are inserted into integrated pockets, so you don’t have to charge them in advance.

Two pouches are included and extras are purchased separately. Although this increases the costs slightly in the long-term, these gloves remain a far cheaper option than the other gloves we’ve taken a look at so far. One thing to bear in mind is that the continued use of pouches will generate a lot of waste, unlike rechargeable batteries.

The fleece fabric is by no means as durable or waterproof as other options we’ve taken a look at, but it does make them more versatile – you can keep them on and still perform fiddly functions (including using your phone – the fingertips are compatible).

The thin fabric means these gloves are unsuitable for perilous conditions, but they provide a simple, effective, and affordable way to keep your hands warm.

Pros

  • Light weight and small size makes them very portable
  • No charging required
  • Touchscreen-compatible fingertips
  • Very affordable

Cons

  • Must purchase pouches separately
  • Generates waste
  • Not suited to extreme conditions

Product Information

  • Sizes: M-XL
  • Material: Fleece
  • Gender: Male and female

What To Look For In A Pair OF Heated Gloves

Okay, so you’ve seen our list of the best heated gloves around. But what is it that makes a good glove? And what should you keep your eye on when you’re shopping around?

Warmth

If you’re looking for heated gloves, then you’re obviously trying to find somewhere warm to keep your hands this winter. Although all heated gloves will do this to some extent some are definitely better than others. The spread of each heating element will make a big difference to the temperature of electric heated gloves, with some covering just the back of the hand and others covering both sides of your palms, fingers, and thumbs!

However, depending on what you’re up to, you might not want the hottest of the hot, and electric heated gloves with multiple settings are a great way to ensure you stay warm but don’t overheat.

Other factors that affect how warm a pair of gloves are are the closure type and whether or not there’s a layer of insulation. But bear in mind that lots of insulation will add to the bulk of your gloves, which could make certain activities trickier. However, if warmth is your top priority, look for a tight seal (adjustable cords plus Velcro and/or a buckle) and a layer of insulation.

Waterproofness

It’s all very well having a super warm pair of gloves, but that warmth is going to disappear if your gloves get soaked. The best heated gloves will offer some kind of water-resistance and, ideally, be fully waterproof. Water-resistant fabrics, like nylon and polyester, keep a lot of water at bay and can be hosted with DWR finishes, but if you want a fully waterproof pair of gloves, keep your eye out for a fully waterproof membrane (just bear in mind that this will reduce the breathability).

Electric Vs Chemical

You’ll notice that almost all the gloves on our list are heated electrically rather than chemically. That’s not because we don’t like chemically heated gloves (we actually really like them) but, if heat is the aim of the game, then electric heated gloves win, hands down. They also have the advantage of being rechargeable (if powered by the right batteries), which stops further costs and is environmentally friendly, unlike the heat pouches you have to replace with chemically heated gloves.

If you just want a casual heat-up of your hands, however, chemically heated gloves are fantastic. They’re not bulky or heavy, and you don’t have to worry about forgetting to charge them. The choice of electric or chemical gloves really does depend on how you’ll be using your gloves!

Extra Features

As we’ve seen, there are a whole bunch of factors that will determine which pair of heated gloves you end up going for.

If you’re the kind of person that likes to be connected no matter where you are or loves taking snaps in the great outdoors, then touchscreen-compatible fingertips will likely be an important factor for you. Loads of gloves offer this nowadays, although it might mean the heated wires don’t stretch as far up the finger if you’re using battery heated gloves (obviously this isn’t an issue with chemically heated gloves).

The grip is another factor, especially if you’ll be using trekking poles or motorcycling in your gloves. Many gloves feature grippy patches on the palm of the hands and some at the fingertips too. And remember, the bulkier the glove, the harder it will be to handle anything, no matter how good the grip.

Our Top Three

Still struggling to decide which pair of gloves is right for you? Here are our top three to help you choose!

If you’re looking for the best pair of heated gloves for casual use, we definitely recommend the HotHands Heated Fleece Gloves. Lightweight, compact, and no need for charging – simply pop them in your bag and you’re good to go!

The lack of bulkiness means you’ll still be able to find your keys, adjust your gear, and even use your phone (yes, they’re touchscreen-compatible too). On top of that, they’re the most affordable product on our list, winning.

HotHands Heated Fleece Glove / Mittens (Black, Medium/ Large)
  • Integrated pockets to hold HotHands warmers in place
  • Long lasting heat for hands and fingers

The Volt Tatra Heated Gloves have come out on top in terms of sheer warmth thanks to their immersive heat elements that engulf the front and backs of your palm, fingers, and thumb!

They also offer four heat settings and the battery life is the best we’ve seen yet, so you can stay toasty all day long – where else would you want to put your hands this winter?!

Men's Volt Heated snow gloves, Black, Small
  • ADVANCED HEATING TECHNOLOGY: Experience the comfort of our Volt Resistance Heated Gloves, designed specifically for men. Integrated with heating technology, these gloves feature a heating system that warms the entire length of each finger, thumb, and both sides of the hand. Ideal for those who seek warmth and comfort during the cold winter months.
  • POWERFUL BATTERY PERFORMANCE: Our rechargeable hand warmers come with two robust VB726U 7.2v 2600mah lithium batteries, ensuring lasting warmth. With four adjustable heat settings, enjoy up to 8 hours of consistent heat. Perfect for long winter activities, these gloves provide the warmth you need to keep your hands cozy and comfortable.

But the gloves that impressed us the most were the humble Aroma Season Heated Gloves. These gloves are fully waterproof and feature secure fasteners to protect you against all the elements, and you can take snaps of your adventures on the go thanks to the touchscreen-compatible fingertips.

What’s more, we absolutely love that they only 5 seconds to heat up – perfect for when you’re really in need! And, they’re somehow exceptionally reasonably priced?! It’s almost too good to be true…

Q&A

Do heated gloves really work?

In short, yes. But, obviously, some are better than others, and there are definitely some duds on the market. Be wary of gloves with heat elements that only cover one side of your palm – the better the coverage the warmer you’ll be.

And remember, just because gloves are heated doesn’t mean they can skimp on quality elsewhere – you still need decent insulation to trap the heat that’s been generated. At the moment, very few established outdoor brands are producing heated gloves, but we’re hoping this will change in the future so that high-end heated gloves become more common (although the quality has already improved a lot since they first hit the market).

You also need to keep an eye on the batteries. Disposable ones are a pain, and some batteries can be super heavy. A lithium-ion battery is great as they’re rechargeable and, these days, usually small and lightweight.

Take good care of your gloves too, especially electrical ones – you don’t want to upset any of the internal wirings.

Overall, heated gloves certainly can keep you warm while you play in the fun, and they’ve made a huge difference to people with certain medical conditions. With a bit of research and some care, you can certainly benefit from owning a pair of heated gloves.
