Best Mammut Jackets For Men

Best Ski Jacket For Men

Mammut Chamuera Thermo Parka

Mammut La Liste HS Thermo Hooded Jacket - Men's, Ice/Marine, Medium, 1010-28210-50507-114

The Mammut La Liste Hooded is a great versatile jacket. It is made from the brand’s proprietary Mammut Dry technology fabric, which boasts excellent waterproofing. The outer layer of the jacket also features a DWR coating for improved performance in wet weather, while the synthetic insulation inside guarantees to keep you warm at all times.

The jacket has 60 g/m² of Ajungilak OTI synthetic insulation, to help keep you warm, and add to any layers you have on underneath. And there’s also soft fleece lining on the collar, which not only keeps your neck warm and cozy but creates a seal so that the warmth can’t escape.

Additionally, the Mammut jacket boasts a total of five pockets. There are two concealed chest pockets and two concealed side pockets on the outside, as well as one simple pocket on the inside. Most of them are zippered, so you can be certain that whatever you put in them will stay safe.

This parka also features adjustable cuffs, hem, and hood for great wind resistance. Also, there is a cover over the center front zipper, ensuring that neither wind nor water can get inside the jacket. The ski skirt is also great for any deep powder days or falls in the snow you might have on a day out.

Pros

  • Adjustable cuffs, hem and hood
  • Excellent for wet weather
  • Synthetic insulation

Cons

  • Not the most breathable option
  • Pricey

Product Information

  • Material: 2-layer MAMMUT DRY technology material
  • Insulation: Synthetic

Best Insulated Jacket For Men

Mammut Convey Down Jacket

Mammut Convey Hooded Jacket - Men's Black/Phantom Medium

The Convey jacket from Mammut is a good option if you want something that will keep you warm during hikes. It is insulated with recycled 700 fill power down, which does an excellent job at retaining heat. The jacket is also very lightweight and highly packable, making it a great choice for people who need something that’s easy to carry and that doesn’t take up a lot of space in their bag.

Also, the ratio of down to feather is 80-20, which is very good. The higher the ratio of down, the warmer the jacket. With more affordable jackets, we usually see a ratio of 60-40 or 70-30. This just goes to show Mammut’s quality and commitment to superb performance, and it helps justify the higher price points.

The outer shell of the Mammut Convey jacket is made from Pertex Quantum fabric. That material is often used in various outdoor gear, including jackets and sleeping bags. It is a breathable material with excellent water resistance, particularly when it has an extra layer of DWR coating as we see on the Mammut jacket.

I would not recommend the Convey jacket for heavy rain though – it is water-resistant, but it’s not fully waterproof. It will get wet if you wear it in really heavy rain, and the insulation inside will get soaked. That will make the down lose its warmth trapping capabilities, rendering the jacket pretty much useless until it fully dries.

This jacket features an elastic hem and cuffs, for an excellent range of motion. It is not restrictive at all and it even features a two-point adjustable hood so you should be able to make it fit you just how you like. And with the three zippered pockets (two external, one internal) there’s plenty of space for the items you need easily accessible on the trail.

Pros

  • Lightweight and packable
  • DWR coating
  • Elastic hems and cuff, adjustable hood

Cons

  • Not great for heavy rain and snow
  • Zippers not waterproof

Product Information

  • Material: Pertex Quantum fabric
  • Insulation: Recycled down, 700 fill power
  • Size Range: S-3XL

Mammut Kento Hardshell Jacket

Mammut Kento HS Hooded Jacket - Men's Black X-Large

The Kento jacket from Mammut is a great option if you’re looking to get something for outdoor adventures. It’s not insulated, so it’s not the best option for very cold weather. But you could pair it with a lightweight down jacket or a fleece hoodie to make it warmer.

This jacket is made from polyamide, which is durable, lightweight, and waterproof. That’s what makes the jacket an excellent option for wet weather – it won’t absorb anything and it will keep you dry regardless of the weather outside.

Additionally, the jacket boasts underarm ventilation zippers that make it more breathable. This is great for hikes and other outdoor adventures since it virtually guarantees you’re not going to overheat. It’s worth noting that all of the zippers are water repellent, and the center one is even YKK’s waterproof Vislon zipper.

The hem, cuffs, and hood are all easily adjustable, and the hood is even helmet-compatible. Also, this jacket is very thin and lightweight, and not at all restrictive, which is another reason why it’s an excellent option for strenuous outdoor adventures.

There are three zippered pockets on the exterior of the Kento jacket, which should be enough for your most important items. The two side pockets are positioned higher than you’d expect – this is great because they won’t interfere with the waist belt of a backpack, so you will always have easy access to them. And there’s an extra pocket on the chest, for the items you want most handy.

Pros

  • Water repellent zippers
  • Lightweight and packable
  • Underarm zippers for excellent ventilation

Cons

  • No insulation whatsoever
  • Hood is not removable

Product Information

  • Material: Polyamide
  • Insulation: None
  • Size Range: S-XXL

Mammut Aconcagua Light Hooded Jacket

Mammut - Men's Aconcagua Light Midlayer Hooded Jacket, Poseidon Melange, Medium

The Aconcagua jacket from Mammut is a great lightweight mid-layer. It’s a jacket you can wear on its own when it’s still warm outside, or under a waterproof shell for ultimate protection from the weather. The softshell mid-layer is made from polyester, polyamide, and spandex for great performance in different weather conditions.

This jacket has excellent breathability with moisture-wicking fabric. And that’s great for active adventures since it guarantees that sweat will evaporate quickly before you start getting uncomfortable.

However, it’s also important to point that out that the Aconcagua doesn’t have any water resistance. It’s a softshell jacket and its material is more likely to absorb water than to repel it. So, you will need a waterproof outer layer if you want to wear this jacket in the rain or snow. On its own, the Aconcagua is strictly meant to provide you with some extra warmth, while allowing your body to breathe.

It’s not restrictive at all thanks to the stretchy fabric and functional underarm gussets. Also, the jacket features flat seams to prevent any chafing from the backpack, allowing you to wear it for hours at a time without getting at all uncomfortable. And it has functional thumb loops and a high neck, which do a great job at keeping the wind out.

The only downside of this softshell Mammut jacket is the overall lack of pockets. There’s just one zippered chest pocket and that’s it – if you’re someone who likes having lots of storage space on your person, you might find this to be a deal-breaker. But if you’re fine having a single pocket on your jacket, then the Aconcagua is still a great option worth considering.

Pros

  • Breathable, moisture wicking fabric
  • Not restrictive
  • Flat seams prevent chaffing

Cons

  • No water resistance
  • Only one pocket

Product Information

  • Material: Polyester, polyamide, spandex
  • Insulation: None
  • Size Range: S-XXL

Best Mammut Jackets For Women

Most Versatile Jacket For Women

Mammut Women Insulated-Jacket Rime Hybrid Flex

Mammut Women Insulated-Jacket Rime Hybrid Flex

The Rime Hybrid Flex jacket is a versatile option for ladies. It is made from Pertex Quantum fabric that has excellent wind and water resistance, but it also features 60 grams of Toray stretch insulation. It’s not the best option for extreme colds, let’s make that clear, but it is a great choice for ladies who want a waterproof outer layer that’s also warm to a degree.

Keep in mind that synthetic insulation continues to trap and retain heat even when it gets wet, making this jacket an excellent choice for cold and wet weather. And since it’s so thin and lightweight, you can easily carry it everywhere without sacrificing too much space in your backpack.

Also, the insulation and the interior lining are stretchy, so this jacket offers excellent freedom of movement. The elastic cuffs and adjustable hem also help with that, and they do a great job at keeping the wind out. On top of that, this hybrid jacket for women boasts a YKK Vislon center front zipper for ultimate water resistance.

The pockets don’t feature waterproof zippers but they are compatible with climbing harnesses. They’re also really big and spacious, so you’ll be able to fit quite a lot of gear inside them. The jacket doesn’t have any internal pockets though, and that’s pretty much the only bad thing I can say about it.

If you’re looking for warm and waterproof protection for hikes in mild and cold weather, the Rime Hybrid Flex is certainly an excellent option that does all that without restricting your movement one bit!

Pros

  • Offers great freedom of movement
  • Waterproof and warm with synthetic insulation
  • Lightweight and packable

Cons

  • Only two pockets
  • Not the best for extreme colds

Product Information

  • Material: Pertex Quantum Fabric
  • Insulation: 60 g Toray stretch insulation
  • Size Range: XS-L

Best Waterproof Jacket For Women

Mammut Women Albula Hooded Hardshell Jacket

The Albula jacket is Mammut’s take on a waterproof shell jacket for hiking. It is thin and lightweight, so it will easily fit into any pocket of your backpack. This is a great jacket to carry on hikes as extra protection from the weather, especially with a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm.

That’s a really high water resistance rating – the lower margin for a jacket to be considered weather-resistant in all conditions is 5,000 mm. In addition to that, the Albula hooded jacket also features a breathability rating of 10,000 g/m², which is twice as much as you get on more affordable options from lower-end brands.

Also, it’s important to note that the Albula jacket features waterproof zippers, for even better performance in wet weather. And with the adjustable cuffs, hem, and hood, you won’t have any issues keeping the wind out either.

On top of that, it’s worth noting that the side pockets also feature water-repellent zippers. Anything you put in them will stay dry and safe throughout your hikes, so you can use them for your phone or GPS without worrying they’ll get soaked in the rain.

The only downside of this jacket is the size variety, and that’s a problem with almost all Mammut jackets. The largest size the Albula is sold in is XL, so there really aren’t any plus-size options. This isn’t very inclusive and I am a bit disappointed in Mammut for this approach.

It’s worth pointing out that this is a loose jacket that runs a bit big, so your usual size should easily fit over thicker hoodies and fleece jackets.

Pros

  • Lightweight and packable
  • High water resistance and breathability ratings
  • Water repellent pockets

Cons

  • No plus sizes at all
  • No insulation whatsoever

Product Information

  • Material: 100% recycled polyester
  • Insulation: None
  • Size Range: XS-XL

Best Insulated Jacket For Women

Mammut Women Down-Jacket Broad Peak

Mammut Broad Peak Hooded Jacket - Women's Black/Phantom X-Small

Mammut’s Broad Peak jacket is a good option for women who want a warm jacket for hikes. It is non-restrictive, lightweight and it packs into one of its pockets. This jacket takes up very little space when stowed, allowing you to carry it everywhere.

Also, the Broad Peak jacket is designed to be compatible with climbing harnesses – even the pockets are positioned higher than usual, so you can easily access them when wearing a harness.

This jacket is made from Pertex Quantum fabric, which has excellent water resistance. It is not fully weatherproof though, and I wouldn’t recommend it for heavy rain or snow, especially because of the down insulation. If the down gets wet, the jacket won’t be warm until it dries.

Also, the Broad Peak jacket features 800 fill power goose down with a 90-10 down to feather ratio. That is amazing since it means that this incredibly thin and lightweight jacket can keep you warm even in extreme colds!

The center-front zipper is a water-repellent YKK Vislon. So, even if you get caught in light rain with this jacket, you can be sure that whatever you’re wearing underneath it won’t get soaked.

On top of that, this jacket also offers excellent freedom of movement thanks to the adjustable hem. It’s even possible to store the drawstring inside the jacket, so it doesn’t get caught on a harness or a backpack waist belt. The cuffs and the hood are not adjustable though, and that’s the only downside.

However, the cuffs are elastic and the hood is form-fitting – combine that with a chin-high center front zipper and you get great wind resistance from the Broad Peak jacket.

Pros

  • Lightweight and packable
  • Excellent insulation and warmth to weight ratio
  • Harness-compatible pockets

Cons

  • Hood and cuffs not adjustable
  • Not suitable for heavy rain and snow

Product Information

  • Material: Polyamide
  • Insulation: Goose down, 800 fill power
  • Size Range: XS-XXL

Mammut - Women's Ultimate V SO Hooded Jacket

Mammut - Women's Ultimate V SO Hooded Jacket, Pink-Candy Melange, X-Small

Mammut Ultimate V is a softshell hooded jacket for women. It is made from 3-layer Gore Windstopper fabric that has weather-resistant features. The jacket is coated with DWR, so even though it’s a softshell jacket, it will perform well in light rain and snow. However, it’s important to keep in mind that the Ultimate V is not insulated, so don’t expect it to be very warm.

This Mammut jacket is a great mid-layer – you can wear it underneath a fully waterproof outer shell or even a thick down parka, for a little extra warmth and protection. It has great breathability, partly thanks to the great materials and partly because of the side zippers that let you open up the jacket all the way.

The two-way underarm zippers run from your forearm up to the pit, and then all the way down to the hem, so you really have ultimate flexibility.

These zippers also make it easier to adjust the jacket when you are wearing a climbing harness. And they even let you wear the harness underneath the jacket if you want, which is pretty cool.

The jacket also has an adjustable hood and elastic thumb holes on the cuffs, for great wind resistance. Also, the material is quite stretchy, so the Ultimate V won’t restrict your movements in any way.

There are two zippered pockets on the sides, and that’s pretty much the only thing I would change. An internal pocket would have been a great addition, but unfortunately, there aren’t any. They are quite big pockets though, so you should be able to fit most of your necessities inside them.

Pros

  • Two-way underarm ventilation zippers
  • Excellent breathability and weather resistance
  • Adjustable hood and elastic cuffs

Cons

  • Only two pockets
  • Not very warm

  • Material: Polyester
  • Insulation: None
  • Size Range: XS-XL

What To Look For

Type Of Jacket?

What kind of jacket are you looking to get? Do you want a warm winter jacket or just something waterproof you can wear on hikes? Maybe you’d like an all-in-one option that can get you through the better part of the year?

If you want a warm winter jacket you should look for something insulated, preferably with some degree of water resistance. It’s rare that a proper winter parka is 100% waterproof – especially if it’s insulated with natural down – but they usually have some sort of water repellent coating on the outside. This is important because it will help you stay warm in light rain and snow.

In case you want an entirely weather-resistant jacket that you can wear in heavy rain and snow, you should focus on finding something waterproof. And if you also want that jacket to be warm, it’s best to pick up something with synthetic insulation.

Natural down doesn’t fare well in wet weather and it looses its heat trapping capabilities. Synthetic insulation, on the other hand, can keep you warm even when it gets wet, making it by far the best option for adventures in the rain and snow.

Everyday Or Active Jacket?

Are you looking to get a Mammut jacket that you can wear every day or something that’s great for hikes and other outdoor adventures?

If it’s an everyday jacket, the number of pockets and the design play a big role. It’s important to get something you can wear with most of your outfits and which suits your style. The number of pockets is also a big deal – there should be enough space for the items you consider necessary so that you don’t have to carry stuff in your hands.

The priorities are different with sporty jackets. You don’t need 15 different pockets because most of your stuff is in your backpack anyway. But what you do need is flexibility and range of motion. Look for a jacket with an adjustable hem and articulated elbows – something that will allow you to move around freely, without feeling like your outerwear is constricting you in any way.

Also, the best jackets for hiking are not just warm and waterproof but also highly breathable. The jacket needs to have good ventilation in the form of pit zips or some breathable technology so that you don’t stay sweaty for too long on hikes.

Softshell Or Hardshell Jacket?

Mammut makes great softshell and hardshell jackets, but what’s the better fit for your needs?

Softshell jackets are generally great mid-layers. They are highly breathable and warm enough to protect you from mild colds. These jackets are great for hiking – the excellent breathability means that you won’t sweat too much, and even if you do get a bit sweaty the moisture will evaporate quickly.

Also, softshell jackets are thin and lightweight, so they’re easy to pair with waterproof outer layers. If you pair a warm and breathable softshell with a 100% waterproof hardshell jacket, you’ll be warm, dry, and protected from the wind!

Hardshell jackets are better at repelling moisture, so they’re generally the preferred option for wet weather and extreme colds. Some of the hardshell jackets featured here are insulated, and some are only thin waterproof layers.

If you want a winter jacket make sure that it’s insulated, and if you just want a thin layer that will protect you from the weather without taking up too much space in your backpack, a non-insulated hardshell will work just fine.

Best Mammut Jacket: Our Top Picks

Not quite sure which jacket to get? Grab one of our top picks, depending on the type of jacket you want!

The Chamuera Thermo Parka is the best men’s jacket for everyday wear. It is heavily insulated with synthetic fiber, meaning it will stay warm even if it gets wet. And it’s unlikely to ever get drenched, thanks to the water repellent fabric and DWR coating. It has five zippered pockets total, as well as an adjustable hem, cuffs, and hood.

When it comes to Mammut hiking jackets for men, my favorite option for cold weather is the Convey Down jacket. It is extremely lightweight and packable, offering superb warmth without practically any bulk. The jacket has a DWR coating for good water resistance, and the adjustable hem and cuffs allow for a great range of motion. It’s also highly breathable, which is essential for long hikes.

  • Extremely soft, lightweight, wind- and water-repellent Pertex Quantum material with PFC free DWR treatment, made from recycled yarn

In terms of options for women, The Rime Hybrid Flex is easily one of the best and most versatile jackets available from Mammut. It is wind and water-resistant, with synthetic insulation and a waterproof center front zipper.

It’s also quite stretchy so you’ll have excellent freedom of movement, while the weight and packability make it convenient to carry the jacket anywhere. Plus, the overall design of this Mammut jacket is simple and sleek, so it perfectly fits into both urban and outdoor environments.
