Best Motorhome GPS Tracker

Best Solar Powered

Solar Magnetic GPS Tracker

Solar Magnetic GPS Tracker - Equipment, Truck, Trailer, RV, Tracking Device - Mobile and Web App Included - Fleet GPS Locator

The first motorhome GPS tracker we are going to take a look at is the Solar Magnetic GPS Tracker.

This GPS tracker is small and very easy to install. All you need to do is slot in the included sim card, clip it onto your motorhome, and then pair it with the app on your phone or on the web.

You’ll be able to track your motorhome wherever it goes and set up things like geo-fences, movement alerts, battery alarms, and more.

Being solar powered with a backup battery, the tracker goes for about 4-5 months on one charge and then uses solar to top up along the way. This means you’ll have to recharge a lot less than you would with other GPS trackers.

This motorhome GPS tracker uses 4G LTE & 2G EDGE to provide you with the location of your motorhome. It provides an accurate location but if your motorhome ends up in a place with no coverage, you might lose the signal.

There are no activation fees with this GPS tracker but you will have to pay a monthly subscription or around $23 or $220 annually.

There are no contracts though so you can pay for a month and then press pause while your motorhome is in your driveway, and reactivate it when you need it again.

Pros

  • Tracks your motorhome accurately
  • Easy to use the app
  • Handy alert features
  • Encrypted for security
  • Easy to install
  • Solar-powered so no recharging
  • No activation fee to pay

If you’re looking for a motorhome GPS tracker that you can use long-term without any hassles, then the CalAmp Trailer GPS Tracking Unit is the one for you.

After 3 years, the service costs just $20 per annum to renew and after 5 years you’ll need to replace the battery.

During the 3-5 years of using this GPS tracker, you’ll get a daily location update via text or via the app letting you know your motorhome’s location.

You can increase this to two updates per day and enable real-time tracking if it gets stolen too.

It doesn’t depend on a 4G signal to work, so it will give you the location of your motorhome wherever it is in the entire world. That’s right, it’s global!

Best Of The Best

Trackimo GPS Tracker 2021 Model

The best motorhome GPS tracker in my opinion is the Trackimo GPS Tracker 2021 Model as it takes things to another level in terms of size, technology, and options.

This GPS tracker is as small as a matchbox and you can install it anywhere in your motorhome, whether it’s on the bottom with the magnet or just leaving it under the driver’s seat.

The GPS tracker uses GSM, GPS, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, and Bluetooth to provide you with an accurate location of your motorhome and it works globally, how awesome is that!

The first year is free with the tracker, and after that is $60 per year for the service – incredible value.

Once connected to your GPS tracker via the easy to use up you can program things like geofence crossing, overspeeding, SOS alerts, and opt to have a location update every day or even every minute. Real-time tracking is also available.

The more updates you go for though, the shorter the battery life. On minimal location updates, it lasts for a month, when using every minute location updates settings it lasts for 3 days. Recharging via USB is easy, even on the road.

  • No activation fees or contracts
  • Works globally
  • Provides real-time trailer tracking

Reiwour 4G GPS Tracker

4G Hidden Magnetic GPS Tracker for Vehicles with 1 Year Subscription Car Tracking Device Long Battery Life Real Time Portable Location Locator Asset Trailer Motorcycle Truck Fleet

The Reiwour 4G GPS Tracker is another great motorhome GPS tracker that is super simple to use.

It arrives a little bigger than a matchbox and all you need to do is activate it, pair it to the app, and install it to your motorhome with the included magnet.

There are no activation fees, or monthly subscriptions to worry about. The first year’s service is included with the tracker and after that, it’s just $59 per year to renew.

The mobile app is easy to use. You can track your motorhome in real-time setup geo and speed alerts, and even get location updates every 30 seconds if you like.

The more frequent the updates though, the more often it will need charging, so be prepared to charge it up every 7-30 days depending on the settings.

The one major flaw to this GPS tracker is that it needs mobile data to work, so if your motorhome is outside of mobile signal, the location updates won’t be very consistent.

Pros

  • Comes without monthly subscriptions
  • Option to store 180 days of tracking history
  • Real-time tracking
  • Pretty good battery life
  • Easy to install
  • Zero activation fees
  • Easy to use the app
  • Nice tracking features & alerts

Cons

  • Not so accurate
  • Needs mobile signal to work

Amcrest GPS GL300 GPS Tracker for Vehicles (4G LTE) - Portable Mini Hidden Real-Time GPS Tracking Device for Vehicles, Cars, Kids, Pets, Assets, Text/Email/Push Alerts, Twin Magnet Weatherproof Case

The Amcrest GPS GL300 GPS Tracker is another good option if you’re looking for a motorhome GPS tracker.

It’s incredibly light, portable, and comes in a waterproof protective case with magnets so you can quickly install it in your motorhome.

To use the GPS tracker, just activate it and pair it to your mobile app or web login. You’ll then be able to see where your motorhome is on google maps, track it in real-time, get location updates up to every 15 seconds, and set alerts for geo-fencing and more.

It’s incredibly easy to use and you get lifetime tech support with the unit. But, you do have to pay monthly fees depending on the frequency of updates you desire, the lowest is $19.99 PCM. There are no contracts so you can turn it on and off as you require.

This GPS tracker uses a 4G sim card to give you an accurate location of where your motorhome is. This does mean that when out of mobile signal range, your location updates may stop altogether.

Global View Magnetic GPS Tracking Device

The Global-View Magnetic GPS Tracking Device is a great GPS tracker for your motorhome but it costs a bit too much in my opinion.

While this tracker is good, the unit costs a lot, and then you have to add $20 a month of subscription fees to that already expensive amount. But, it does work very well.

The GPS tracker uses a GPS signal to give you accurate location updates of your motorhome in up to 100 different countries. You can set geo-fences, get alerts by email or text, review tracking history online and even go into things like driver safety and behavior on the road.

Installing the GPS tracker is easy, just clip it onto your motor home with the magnets provided. Once installed it will provide you with real-time location updates on the web portable that are super accurate.

The battery life is also pretty good and lasts around a month, so you won’t have to do much recharging. The only issue is the cost, as there are similar units out there for a lot less.

Pros

  • Works in 100 countries
  • Easy to install
  • Good location accuracy
  • Excellent feature set
  • Provides driving data too
  • Solid battery life

Cons

  • Quite expensive
  • Then add monthly subs.

What To Look For In The Best Motorhome GPS Tracker

Battery Life

Battery life is one of the most important things to be aware of when buying a GPS tracker and it varies a lot. In the GPS trackers featured, some batteries only last 3 days on a high location update setting while others can go 5 years without needing a charge.

The average is around 20-30 days on a low update setting, so pock carefully and bear in mind how often you will have to recharge your tracker to keep it working for you.

Price and Subscriptions

When buying a motorhome GPS tracker you need to consider both the cost of the unit upfront and whether it comes with monthly subscription fees or not. You’ll notice from the trackers featured, that some come without a subscription fee and some with one.

In my opinion, if you can get all the features you need from a GPS tracker without the monthly subs, then you’re going to save a load of cash in the long run, especially if you want it to be on all the time.

If you’re only going to need to use the tracker for say a month a year, then the subscription fees which range from $10 -$40 a month are going to be a lot more manageable.

Networks

Some of the GPS trackers featured require a mobile network in the form of 4G (or other) to relay the location data back to you. Now, this is fine for most of the world but not if you’re going into the backcountry. Consider whether 4G is good enough for you before buying a GPS tracker that uses it.

Features

Each motorhome GPS tracker above comes with a range of different features. So can give you 30-second location updates, others only once or twice a day. Some store tacking history and give you engine/ driver behavior updates while others don’t. Make sure you pick a GPS tracker with the right feature set to suit you.

Our Favorite Motorhome GPS Trackers

The best solar-powered motorhome GPS tracker is the Solar Magnetic GPS Tracker. This GPS tracker mounts quickly and easily to your motorhome and sends you updates directly to the app on your phone.

There are no contracts so you only pay while using it and it provides accurate location data as long as you’re anywhere with a 4G or 2G network connection. Oh, and it’s solar-powered so no need to recharge it very often.

The best motorhome GPS tracker for long-term use is the CalAmp Trailer GPS Tracking Unit. This GPS tracker has no contracts or monthly fees, just plug it in and the service runs for 3 years and the battery for 5 years. You can then renew the service for $20 a year afterward.

It works everywhere in the world and gives you accurate location updates 1/2 times and day and you can enable real-time tracking if your motorhome gets stolen.

The best motorhome GPS tracker featured in my opinion is the Trackimo GPS Tracker 2021 Model. It works all over the world, provides excellent location accuracy, and the app is pretty amazing. You can enable real-time tracking, get minute but minute updates, and a lot more.

There are no fees for the first year and after that is costs just $5 a month to keep the service going. It’s also tiny, light, and easy to install just be aware you’ll need to recharge it weekly/monthly depending on the update settings you choose.
