Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Salt

If you’re looking for a light knife with a small blade that can handle corrosion, even life at sea, the Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Salt is an ideal choice thanks to its wet handle design and awesome blade material.

The Spyderco Dragonfly blade is short at 2.25 inches, small enough to be legal in most states for everyday carry, and large enough to get small cutting tasks done with ease. It made from VG-10 stainless steel that does an amazing job against corrosion. You’ll still need to clean and look after it, but it does better than most others out there.

The handle is super grippy even when wet, and this is thanks to the Bi-Directional Texturing. You can rub the knife both ways and you’ll get as much grip as you need to ensure it never slips. If you’re a fisherman or work on boats, you’ll know how useful this is. 

Another great thing about this knife is how small and light it is. You’ll barely notice it in your pocket and the clip allows you to deploy quickly and keep it secure at the same time. Once open, the blade stays locked in place, so you can be comfortable using it as seas when the waves are bouncing you around on deck.

The only downside to the Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Salt is that the handle can chip if it gets dropped and lands at a certain angle, which is a little annoying but you have to be unlucky for this to happen.

Spyderco Paramilitary 2

The Spyderco Para Military 2 is one of the most popular Spyderco knives ever made and this is thanks to its super rugged build and the fact that it does everything exceptionally well. From cutting to deployment, and the locking mechanism, this knife is world-class.

The blade on the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 is 3.44-inches long and is made from CPM S30V stainless steel. It’s tough, durable, and does exceptionally well against corrosion. It’s been made with a longer tip for better penetration and is full-flat ground to give you a great edge.

This Spyderco Paramilitary knife comes with a G-10 handle that has had the ends narrowed for better ergonomics and has a thinner profile to make it more comfortable when in your pocket. Being a G-10 handle, it’s also well-textured to ensure maximum grip and zero accidents.

The locking mechanism is solid too and won’t fail when you’re doing some heavy tasks, ensuring you can cut with confidence knowing the blade isn’t going to slip.

As with most Spyderco EDC knives, this one also comes with a 4 position carry clip so you can have it ready in your preferred deployment style. Deployment is quick and easy, and you’ll never struggle to it with one hand.

The only downside to this knife is the price, it’s quite expensive but considering the quality of it, it should be.

Spyderco Cara Cara 2

The Spyderco Cara Cara 2 is an excellent EDC for anyone who is looking to spend a little less. It’s one of the most affordable Spyderco knives out there, but still delivers when it comes to quality and reliability.

The Cara Cara comes with a 3.75-inch blade that’s made from 8Cr13MoV Stainless Steel. The blade is tough, durable, sharp, and holds its edge for a while. The blade is full-flat ground and helps reduce any drag when you’re cutting and reduces the overall weight. 

The knife comes with a handy thumbhole for one-hand deployment and it can be deployed ambidextrously, so if you’re left-handed, this knife is a good one to check out.

The handle is textured to give you an excellent grip and stop any accidents from happening, and you can choose from 4 colors too. You’ll also find a pocket clip that can be worked in 4 positions, so you can carry the knife in your pocket however you like.

The steel blade locks well and it’s reliable too, making it safe to use for heavier applications without any risk of accidentally cutting yourself.

The only downside to this knife is that it doesn’t deploy as fast as others, but that a minor inconvenience considering the price, and only matters if you plan on being in some tight tactical situations.

Spyderco Delica 4

The Delica range has been around since way back in 1990, but its popularity hasn’t waned a bit – and it’s easy to see why.

The Spyderco Delica 4 is the latest in the line and features some great improvements from previous models. The fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN – you’ll see this term a lot with Spyderco knives) handle features multidirectional 3D patterning to provide great grip as well as being a dream to hold in either hand, and it also has stainless steel liners for extra robustness.

Just watch out for the texture when you first get your knife – there might be some rough bits initially but they’ll wear down with time. Plus, we like that the handle comes in a range of colors – who says knives have to look dull?

The Spyderco Delica steel blade itself is constructed from an old Spyderco classic, VG-10 steel, which has a high carbon percentage, great cutting power, is corrosion-resistant, and can be honed to a sharpness that would make a razor look blunt.

Oh, and it’s also available with a plain or serrated edge (we personally prefer the plain).

One of our favorite features of this Spyderco Delica knife is its screw construction – by removing the screws and giving it an occasional once over, you can keep this life in tiptop shape for years.

We’re also big fans of the 13mm opening hole that lets you unfold this knife smoothly with one hand – perfect for when you’re in the middle of a fiddly task, although sadly closing it again isn’t quite as smooth.

When closed, the steel blade is held safely in place by a back lock and, with a closed length just over 4 inches, can slip in your pocket for convenience (or you can clip it if you’d rather thanks to the easy-to-use carry clip).

Despite all the features that we love, the Delica 4 comes with a lower price tag than many Spyderco knives and we think it offers fantastic value for money.

Spyderco Spydiechef

The Spyderco Spydiechef hasn’t been around as long as most of the other Spyderco knives, and perhaps that’s why it has such a modern, stylish design.

This folding knife has been built to withstand rough use in a range of environments you might encounter in the kitchen… or out of space – it’s actually constructed from LC200N, which is exceptionally corrosion-resistant and used by NASA for aircraft construction!

It also features a broad, curved steel blade with a full-flat grind for refined cutting, and the handle is constructed of durable, lightweight titanium. Although the cutting performance of the blade is exceptional, it is slightly shorter than your average kitchen knife, so bear in mind it won’t be up to every food-related task.

We love that this folding knife has a handle that features a lanyard hole and carry clip that let you keep this knife close for times of need – ideal for a busy kitchen.

The opening hole works wonders and this knife can be unfolded single-handedly; however, if you switch the carry clip to the left-hand-side it will be slightly harder as the locking mechanism slightly covers the hole (sorry lefties!).

Overall, this portable knife can survive extreme conditions and offers an incredible cutting performance, making it a great companion for outdoor adventures as well as the kitchen.

Spyderco Tenacious

The Spyderco Tenacious is an everyday carry knife that is up to the task of any small jobs you might want to send its way. It’s small, fits in your pocket with ease and you can deploy it in a number of ways, left or right-handed.

The knife comes with a 3.4-inch blade that’s made from high-quality 8Cr13MoV steel. The blade is leaf-shaped and ground flat to ensure you have amazing cutting performance no matter the task at hand. It also a large round hole for easy one-hand deployment and locks reliably in place once open.

The Syderco Tenacious comes with Spyderco’s famous G-10 handle that is specially designed to ensure your hands never get tired even when you have to cut for a long time. The handle is solid, durable, and it’s super grippy to ensure you never slip.

There is a 4-way pocket clip on the handle, meaning you can have the knife ready in your pocket for deployment however you like, up, down, left hand, right hand, the choice is yours. Deployment is quick and easy too, and you can do it with one hand which is great for fiddly tasks when your other hand is busy.

The only drawback to the Syderco Tenacious knife is that the blade does have a little side-to-side play in it, but this only tends to happen after a year of use, and for the very affordable price, you can’t really argue with that.

Spyderco Police Model

The Spyderco Police Model was first made in the 1980s to meet the needs of law enforcement and is about as durable as a knife can get. The blade is a little too long for EDC, so this is one for the outdoors or at home.

The blade is 4.23 inches long and is made from quality VG-10 stainless steel. It holds it’s edge well and is exceptionally long-lasting. You can pick from 3 edge types with this knife; PlainEdge, SpyderEdge, or CombinationEdge, to suit whatever tasks you plan on using it for.

The handle is also made from stainless steel which is ideal for heavy work and gives you a solid foundation to cut from with almost zero give. The handle can be a little slippy though, as it’s quite thin, and those with large hands may risk a slip here and there. The stainless also scratches quite easily making any wear and tear quite noticeable.

The pocket clip makes it easy to carry, and the large hole in the blade makes for quick and simple deployment with one hand. Once open, the locking mechanism is exceptionally reliable and ensures the knife won’t close while you’re using it.

Overall this is a great Spyderco knife but it is a little expensive, just remember its not for EDC in every state due to the blade length.

Spyderco Manix 2

The Spyderco Manix 2 is an awesome knife for survivalists and for use in the outdoors thanks to its cutting power. The blade is broad and the handle is designed to give you the most amount of force possible when cutting.

The blade is 3.37 inches long and is made from CPM S30V stainless steel that is about as tough and corrosion resistant as a blade can get. The blade is ground with flat bevels all the way along it that provides a low friction cutting and less weight carry.

The G-10 handle features a textured index-finger choil and thumb ramp to allow for a forward grip and being G-10 it’ll never slip thanks to the checked texture. It’s a super comfy handle and is still comfortable even after long cutting tasks. 

Once open, this knife uses a compression lock to ensure the blade doesn’t slip and close. It’s super reliable but it can stick sometimes when you’re trying to close it.
