Kravice Waterfalls
Kravice Waterfalls are one of the most popular waterfalls in the country. They’re situated in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the area of Ljubuski near the border with Croatia.
The area of Kravice Falls is incredibly beautiful and scenic. The main Kravice waterfall is 28 meters tall and 120 meters wide, so there’s water splashing everywhere. If you’re going to get close to the falls for beautiful photographs, it’s recommended to wear sturdy footwear that’s suitable for slippery terrain.
Also, it’s worth noting that you’re allowed to swim in the pool below the waterfalls. A lot of locals and tourists do that, just bear in mind that it’s not possible year-round. Visit the country during the warmer months if you want to go for a swim in the amazing Kravice Waterfalls, otherwise, it’s going to be too cold to go for a swim.
Visiting Kravice Waterfalls is a must if you’re trying to see the country’s prettiest falls. It can be a bit of a hassle if you’re staying in the northern part of the country since it’s going to take a while to get there, and you don’t have too many options in terms of public transport.
Bereški Waterfall
Bereški Waterfall is a Tufa waterfall situated in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It’s some 8 kilometers north of Rogatica, which is the largest town in the area. The waterfall is right at the confluence of the river Bereg into Rakitnica River, and it measures some 10-12 meters tall.

Skakavac Waterfall
Skakavac Waterfall is situated above Nahorevo, just some 12 kilometers away from Sarajevo. It’s one of the most popular day trips from the country’s capital and the perfect adventure for any outdoor lovers who are staying in Sarajevo.
The spectacular Skakavac Waterfall is 98 meters tall, which makes it one of the tallest falls in the entire Balkans. It runs down a limestone face, and it’s a truly dramatic sight. It’s even a popular spot in the winter – the waterfall usually freezes in the colder months, making it a very interesting sight.
It’s possible to hike to the waterfall all the way from the city center, but that would take quite a while. There’s a parking lot near the entrance to the Skakavac Nature Preserve, and from there it’s just a 15-minute hike to the beautiful waterfall.
You can also get here with a bike, but do keep in mind that the road to the waterfall is super steep and windy. It’s also possible to get a cab ride, just make sure that the driver turns on the meter, otherwise, they might try to overcharge you for the ride.
Martin Brod Waterfalls
Martin Brod Waterfalls are situated in the northwest of the country, very close to the border with Croatia. This is a system of waterfalls on the Una River, and there are several waterfalls in the area that are worth your time.
Martin Brod Falls is the name for a rapids series on the river, which reaches a height of 54 meters at its tallest point. South of them, you can see the Great Una Waterfalls, which are even more spectacular.

Also, if you decide to stay here, you should know that it’s possible to book guided tours of the waterfalls, and you can even go rafting or ride quads.
Kozice Waterfalls
Kozice Waterfalls are situated in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, close to the town of Fojnica. They’re within a nature preserve that boasts many different hiking trails, making it a great place for all outdoor lovers who are traveling through Bosnia.
Kozice Falls might be a tad underwhelming if you were hoping to see something grand and spectacular, but it’s more about the journey than the destination. The untouched nature of the preserve is just gorgeous, and the hike to the falls is a proper workout. The trail is well marked, but the terrain is a bit challenging since it’s through a forest.
It’s possible to visit the waterfall wherever you want, and it might be even more striking in the winter months when its surroundings are covered with a layer of snow. The pool below this waterfall is quite shallow, so it’s not really possible to swim in the area anyway.
Bliha Waterfall
Bliha Waterfall is a proper natural wonder in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It’s 56 meters tall and 10 meters wide, and it can easily be accessed by hiking trail. The waterfalls run down a cliff face into a small pool below, and it is possible to get very close to the cascade.

This is recommended only for experienced swimmers since the pool is quite deep.
Also, there are loads of places nearby from where you can admire stunning waterfall views. Rafts on the Vrbas river, cafes and restaurants near the falls, and observation decks from the higher-altitude parts of the town are just a few.
Jajce is a lovely little town. It’s best known for the waterfall, but it’s also home to a spectacular fortress that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the town’s roofs. There are loads of other ancient ruins throughout the town, so if you do make it to Jajce for a day trip, be sure to explore the entire town and not just the charming Pliva Waterfall.
Šištica Waterfall
Šištica Waterfall is situated at the confluence of the Šištica and Neretva Rivers. It’s 30 meters tall and it’s such a spectacular sight that it was declared a natural landmark of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This waterfall is situated south of Boracko Jezero, another spectacular natural attraction in the area. Nature lovers and adventurers will enjoy a trip to this part of the country because there are so many different stunning sights to discover.

Koćuša Waterfalls
Koćuša Waterfalls are situated in Veljaci village, in the Ljubuski municipality. It’s not a particularly tall waterfall but it is incredibly wide – Koćuša Waterfall is 5 meters high and 50 meters wide, making it truly a spectacular sight.
The stunning waterfall is situated within a nature park and there is an entrance fee for tourists. Tickets are 20 KM for tourists but half the price for locals, so if you have any friends in the area, you can save some money if you get them to buy you tickets. Let them do the talking and just smile and nod.
It’s worth noting that Koćuša Waterfalls are situated in the same nature park as the Kravice Waterfalls, so you can visit both attractions on the same afternoon. There are other places to explore here, including a spectacular fortress with mesmerizing views and a 19th-century museum known for housing a monument that dates back to the 12th century.
Skakavac Waterfall (Perucica Rainforest)
There’s another Skakavac Waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it’s nowhere near Sarajevo. This Skakavac Waterfall is located at the Sutjeska National Park, within the Perucica rainforest.
This entire place is beautiful and a real playground for nature lovers and adventurers. The waterfall can only be accessed by a walking trail through the rainforest, so you’re in for a real treat if you enjoy hiking and exploring nature.
The waterfall is smaller than the Skakavac near Sarajevo, but it’s still a charming site. The entire hike through the forest is spectacular, just like the cliffs and trees surrounding the smaller Skakavac Waterfall.
Ilomska Waterfalls
Ilomska Waterfalls are situated in Central Bosnia, on the Ilomska river. They consist of the Great Waterfall and Lesser Waterfall, which are both situated some 2 kilometers away from the mouth of the river into Ugar.
The bigger of the two falls is some 40 meters tall, but it looks much smaller with the imposing cliffs in the background. There are also several smaller waterfalls and cascades in this area, so be sure to explore as much of it as you can while you’re there. You can get good views of the beautiful waterfalls from above, so be sure to check out at least a hiking trail or two – they’re some of the best hikes in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The trailhead to Ilomska Waterfalls is close to the main road near Vukovici village. It’s also possible to access the waterfalls via the Koricani hiking area, but keep in mind that you’re mostly on your own here. The closest town is Travnik and it’s about an hour’s ride away from the roads near Ilomska Waterfalls, traveling here in your own car is by far the best option.
