Gucci Luggage Review: Is It A Good Investment?

The Ophidia cabin trolley made from GG Supreme canvas fabric is a great option if you want a small carry-on suitcase. The luggage is perfect for short trips, it’s small enough that most airlines will accept it inside the cabin, and it features the brand’s staple logo all over the shell.

The suitcase is manufactured from a very durable material, plus it’s got a grey leather trim and grab handles. It’s equipped with smooth rolling single spinner wheels, a height-adjustable telescopic wheel handle, and a convenient padlock that secures the zipper of the main compartment. The padlock is not TSA-friendly though, so keep that in mind.

This Gucci luggage features two fully lined packing compartments but no expandable capacity. The top compartment has a zippered divider while the bottom one features elastic cross straps that will secure your belongings in place. There aren’t any pockets inside the suitcase, but there is one large external pocket for any items you want to keep easily accessible.

One major downside of this luggage is the weight. At nearly 14 lbs, this soft-sided luggage weighs more than an average aluminum suitcase of the same size. You won’t feel the weight of the suitcase as much when you’re rolling it around thanks to the spinner wheels, but it can be an issue if you need to stick to a certain weight limit for carry-on luggage.

Gucci Savoy Cabin Suitcase

The Gucci Savoy cabin trolley is a chic option for carry-on luggage. It’s a softside piece of luggage made from canvas with blue leather trim and accents. It’s worth noting that the blue accents are specific for one model of the Savoy suitcase and that you have a few other options in Gucci’s staple colors.

The suitcase features one main packing compartment and one external zippered pocket. The packing compartment is fully lined and equipped with elastic cross straps in one compartment and a zippered divider in the other. It’s worth noting that there are no pockets inside this suitcase, and honestly I think it’s a missed opportunity.

Sure, there’s an external pocket for items you want more easily accessible, but it’s small and not enough to allow you to stay perfectly organized. Then again, if you use packing cubes for items inside the suitcase, you won’t need any pockets anyway.

Other features of the Gucci Savoy luggage include smooth spinner wheels, a telescopic wheel handle, top and side grab handles, and a zippered closure with a padlock. The lock on the luggage is not TSA-approved, but that doesn’t matter as much with cabin luggage. Overall, the suitcase is a good option if you want a compact carry-on, especially if you prefer softside luggage.

Gucci Porter Cabin Trolley

The Porter Cabin Trolley is Gucci’s take on an aluminum suitcase. Metal luggage is generally the most durable option there is, and if you travel often and need a reliable piece of luggage, you won’t go wrong with an aluminum case.

The shell of the luggage is classic aluminum silver with staple Gucci branding on the grab handles and inside the suitcase. The accents on the luggage are made from canvas, with leather straps inside the suitcase.

In addition to the aluminum shell, this luggage also boasts reinforced corners and steel rivets all over the shell. This is great for durability and it makes the suitcase virtually indestructible.

The Porter suitcase features double spinner wheels and a telescopic wheel handle for smooth maneuvering. Because it’s an aluminum piece of luggage it features a zipperless closure. The suitcase has two combination locks to close it, which are a lot more secure than standard zippers. It’s worth noting that the locks are not TSA-friendly.

On the inside, this Gucci suitcase features two height-adjustable divider pads and an interior lined with nylon. The divider pads double as compression pads; they are height adjustable and will help you fit a lot more inside your suitcase. Overall, this is certainly one of the brand’s best suitcases, at least for travelers who value durability and performance over other features.

Gucci GG Marmont Cabin Trolley

The Marmont Cabin Trolley is probably my favorite Gucci carry-on, at least in terms of luggage design. It features a shell made from chevron leather with a classic Gucci logo, but without a thousand little G’s all over the shell. The suitcase looks sleek, and the branding is much more subtle, which I personally prefer.

However, in terms of all the other features, it’s almost identical to the Savoy carry-on suitcase. It’s got one packing compartment with tie-down straps at the bottom and a zippered divider at the top. There’s a telescopic wheel handle as well as single spinner wheels, and grab handles on the top and side of the luggage.

What’s worse is that the suitcase lacks the external pocket of the Savoy, so it has a total of zero pockets. And just like the Savoy, the Marmont suitcase features a zippered closure with a padlock. It’s not a TSA-friendly padlock, but that shouldn’t be a big deal because it’s a cabin bag.

Another thing worth noting is that this suitcase is slightly heavier than the Savoy cabin trolley, mostly because of the leather construction. Both pieces of luggage feature identical dimensions and capacities, so they’re made according to the same mold, but leather is heavier than canvas.

Gucci GG Embossed Duffel Bag

The GG Embossed duffel bag is a gorgeous piece of luggage and an excellent option for travelers who don’t want a suitcase. It’s available in five different colors, including both shiny and matte options.

It’s a leather duffel bag with a GG embossed logo in several places throughout the body. The bag features a set of short grab handles, a longer shoulder strap, and a zippered closure with a padlock. It’s the same padlock you get with their suitcases, and it’s super convenient for keeping your luggage secure.

The duffel also features tiny metal feet on the bottom, which will protect it from damage. On top of that, it’s worth noting that there’s also a strap to secure the two grab handles together, for easier carrying.

The interior of the duffel is fully lined and features open pockets on either side. This is convenient for keeping your stuff organized, but it’s worth noting that the pockets are rather small, so they’re best for any smaller items you want to keep easily accessible.

In addition to all that, I must point out that this duffel bag offers a very similar capacity to Gucci’s cabin trolleys, but it’s significantly smaller and lighter. If you need a small cabin bag, I would recommend this over the suitcases simply because it’s more practical.

At this point, the Gucci Maxi duffel bag is an iconic piece of luggage and a must-buy for anyone who really loves this brand. You’ve seen it on celebrities, influencers, and probably loads of other people at airports, and if you want to be part of the Gucci crowd, this duffel bag is absolutely one of the best pieces of luggage to buy.

It’s part of their GG Supreme collection, which is inspired by archived items from the 1930s Gucci collections. This is quite literally a piece of fashion history and a great investment for anyone who likes collecting bags.

The bag is made from canvas with web accents, so it’s remarkably durable and easy to clean. It’s got two web grab handles that are very durable, as well as a detachable shoulder strap for maximum convenience. Also, you should know that this duffel bag is significantly larger than the cabin trolleys featured earlier, but it manages to be the lightest piece of luggage from Gucci so far at just 3.9 lbs.

If you don’t like heavy luggage but need something spacious, this is definitely the right bag for you. In terms of the downsides of the bag, I only see two. One, there are no feet at the bottom of the bag so it will eventually get damaged if you often place it on the floor. And two, there are no pockets inside the duffel, so the organizational features could definitely be improved.

Gucci Diana Large Duffle Bag

Gucci Diana is a gorgeous duffel bag that can easily become your new favorite carry-on item. It’s much lighter than all the carry-on suitcases, but it still offers a generous capacity that’s just enough for weekend getaways.

The duffel is made from smooth black leather that looks sleek and elegant. It’s got two sturdy grab handles as well as a webbing shoulder strap in the staple Gucci combination of red and green. The strap is very sturdy and will easily support the weight of the fully packed duffel bag.

It’s also a removable strap, so you can entirely take it off if you don’t like it. A name tag is also attached to the grab handle of this duffel, and just like everything else on the bag, it’s made from the same gorgeous, luxurious leather.

I’m not a huge fan of Gucci’s tendency to heavily logo their products, so I really like the fact that this duffel bag has just one subtle logo on the front. It’s barely noticeable, but it’s there. Anyway, the shoulder strap is a dead giveaway you’re carrying a Gucci bag, at least to everyone in the know.

This duffel bag also features a wide zipper opening for easy access to the contents, as well as a couple of internal pockets for the organization of all the smaller items. Overall, it’s an excellent option for people who don’t want a suitcase, but still want a sturdy piece of luggage with a large capacity.

The Large Duffel Bag with Tonal Double G is another great option for a carry-on duffel bag that works instead of a suitcase. This bag is approximately 20” wide so it’s as big as most carry-on suitcases, but it’s significantly lighter at less than 4 lbs.

The duffel is made from soft leather with tonal enamel hardware, and it comes with Gucci’s staple red and green webbing shoulder strap. The shoulder strap is removable and you can take it off the bag if you want.

There are also two adjustable grab handles on this bag that kind of double as compression straps for the best functionality. The interior of the bag is fully lined with GG canvas fabric and it features two zippered pockets for easy organization.

The bag also has two external zippered pockets that are great for any items you want to keep easily accessible. Overall, the large capacity, multiple pockets, and several possible carrying styles make it one of the best Gucci duffel bags you can get your hands on, especially if you want a bag that can entirely replace the need for a cabin suitcase.
