Airlines are famous for making your frequent flyer miles expire. Poof! Before your very eyes, all those valuable miles you were saving for that flight to Bali are gone.
Sure, there are a lot of benefits to SIA’s KrisFlyer program, but you need to be aware of all the details.
So, when do Singapore Airlines Krisflyer miles expire?
KrisFlyer Miles expire 36 months (3 years) after they were earned. So, if you earned some specific miles on the 12th of April 2021, they will expire on the 12th of April 2024.
Although Singapore Airlines had paused this policy during the pandemic, the massive comeback they experienced since Singapore opened its doors to all has thrown that to the wind.
The exception to the rules is members of Solitaire PPS and PPS Club whose miles never expire as long as they maintain their membership status
As of January 1st 2023, all miles will expire 36 months after they were earned. However, Singapore has added a further extension period for miles that are expiring in the first six months of 2023. Here is the table from their website:

There is a section in your KrisFlyer account where you can check all the miles expiring in the next 12 months.
To check the expiry date of all your collected miles you simply follow these steps:

SIA KrisFlyer members can extend miles one-time for a fee. It can cost you around 12% of your miles or 12 USD per 10,000 miles to extend them, and the extension will be 6 or 12 months depending on your KrisFlyer tier.

You can extend your miles inside your KrisFlyer account directly by going to Miles>Miles Validity.
Another option is to use your miles today but for a flight far into the future. For example, if your miles expire soon you can use them to book at flight on Singapore Airlines or their Star Alliance partners up to 355 days into the future.
Alternatively, you could also transfer them to another program or spend them in the KrisShop even though the value per point is more than likely less than with a flight.
