SwissTech Excursion 21” Carry On Luggage

The Excursion Luggage is one of the brand’s more popular collections. It’s made from ABS plastic with polycarbonate coating for better durability and impact resistance. The case also features corner reinforcements, so it’s definitely more durable than a basic ABS suitcase.

On top of that, the shell is textured, which will help hide any scuffs and scratches on the luggage body. One important thing to note is that this suitcase measures 23” with wheels and handles, so it will pass as a carry-on only when you’re flying with select US airlines. It’s too tall to be an international carry-on, and you’ll be forced to check this bag on most flights outside the United States.

Features of the Excursion suitcase include smooth double-spinner wheels, a telescopic wheel handle, a TSA-friendly combination lock, and a built-in USB port. The case also has top and side grab handles, so it’s easy to pick up whether you’re loading it in the overhead bin or in the trunk of your car.

This luggage features an expandable capacity with tie-down straps at the bottom and a full-panel zippered divider at the top. There are open and zippered pockets inside the suitcase for easy organization, including a removable waterproof pocket.

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Reinforced corners
  • USB port
  • Double spinner wheels
  • Removable waterproof pocket
  • Expandable capacity

Cons

  • Not extremely durable
  • Too big to be an international carry-on

Product Information

  • Dimensions: 23" x 14.75" x 10"
  • Weight: 7.5 lbs
  • Capacity: 47 liters

Best Softshell Suitcase

SwissTech Executive 21” Carry-On Luggage

The Executive carry-on is good luggage for travelers who prefer softshells to hardshells. The suitcase measures 23” tall, so it will be accepted as a carry-on only on flights with some airlines in the US. It’s not an internationally-sized carry-on, so keep that in mind.

Other than that, it’s a really good piece of luggage. It’s made from 1680 denier fabric with double spinner wheels, expandable capacity, and a built-in TSA lock. The suitcase also features a telescopic wheel handle, top and side grab handles, and an integrated USB port for charging.

I really like softshell luggage because it always features external compartments, which is rarely the case with hardside suitcases. This is great for organization, but also just for keeping some items easily accessible while you’re at the airport. The Executive carry-on has three zippered pockets on the front panel, so you can keep plenty of items within reach.

There’s also an open pocket on the side next to the USB port, which allows you to store your phone while it’s charging. It’s a convenient feature, especially since it can also work for water bottles or umbrellas when you’re not using it for your smartphone.

The interior of this suitcase is fully lined and equipped with a total of four pockets for effortless organization. This includes a waterproof pocket for toiletries or wet clothes. The packing case also features elastic cross straps, to keep your clothes in place.

Pros

  • An expandable capacity
  • USB port
  • TSA-approved lock
  • Spinner wheels
  • Four internal pockets
  • Multiple external pockets

Cons

  • Won’t always be accepted as a carry-on

  • Dimensions: 23" x 14.5" x 7.75"

Best Hardshell Suitcase

SwissTech Exhibition 22” Carry-On Luggage

Out of all the SwissTech luggage collections, the Exhibition is by far the most durable one because the suitcases are made from durable polycarbonate and feature reinforced corners. However, it’s also one of the worst options for travel because the smallest suitcase measures 25” with wheels and handles, so it’s not really carry-on sized.

One of the reasons why the luggage is so big is because it features oversized double-spinner wheels. They add quite a bit of height to the suitcase, but they also guarantee effortless maneuvering, even over cracks and holes. The suitcase also features a height-adjustable wheel handle, a TSA-approved lock, an expandable capacity, and a convenient USB port.

The interior of this luggage is surprisingly elaborate with multiple open pockets and a total of three zippered pockets for easy organization. One of the pockets is waterproof and it’s great for toiletries.

The bottom compartment has elastic cross-straps to keep the clothes in place, while the top compartment features a full-panel zippered divider. Overall, if you’re looking for checked luggage or just a suitcase for road trips and train travel, the Exhibition is certainly one of the best options. It’s a really good deal considering the quality and all the extra features.

Pros

  • Very durable exterior
  • USB port
  • The capacity is expandable
  • Integrated TSA lock
  • Seven interior pockets
  • Large double-spinner wheels

Cons

  • Too big to be a carry-on
  • No grab handle at the bottom

  • Dimensions: 25" x 15" x 10.5"
  • Weight: 9 lbs

SwissTech Navigation 21” Carry-On Luggage

The Navigation suitcase is another affordable option if you’re looking for hardside carry-on luggage. It’s made from ABS plastic and features a textured shell for better scratch resistance. This isn’t the most durable suitcase out of the bunch, but it’s certainly sturdy enough for a cabin suitcase.

However, keep in mind that the case measures 24” tall with wheels and handles, so you’ll be able to use it as a carry-on only on flights with select airlines in the US. Most international airlines won’t allow this inside the cabin, so just make sure to double-check the airline’s size restrictions before a trip.

This luggage is equipped with double spinner wheels, a TSA-friendly lock, a height-adjustable wheel handle, and an expandable capacity. It also features a USB port so you can charge your electronics while you’re moving around.

On the inside, this SwissTech suitcase features two zippered pockets, two open pockets, and a removable waterproof pouch. The bottom compartment is equipped with elastic cross straps, while the top compartment features a full-panel zippered divider for easy separation of your belongings.

Pros

  • A TSA-friendly lock
  • Height-adjustable wheel handle
  • Multiple internal pockets
  • USB port

Cons

  • 24” is not an international carry-on size
  • ABS plastic is not very durable

Product Information

  • Dimensions: 24" x 15" x 10.5"
  • Weight: 8.5 lbs

SwissTech Urban Trek 20” Carry-On Luggage

The Urban Trek carry-on is the smallest cabin suitcase SwissTech makes. It measures 22.5” tall with wheels handles, so it’s still not small enough that every airline will accept it inside the cabin. But most will, and this is the closest thing to an international carry-on suitcase the brand makes.

The luggage is made from a 1680 denier fabric and it’s got rubberized corners for better impact resistance. Other features of this suitcase include double spinner wheels, a height-adjustable wheel handle, an expandable capacity, and a TSA-friendly lock.

One thing to note is that the bag has multiple external compartments, but it’s only possible to lock the zipper of the main packing compartment.

This SwissTech suitcase also features a USB port for charging, as well as an open pocket just below the port. It’s great for storing your phone while it’s plugged in, but it can also work for other items you want to keep easily accessible. Additionally, the case has a few other external pockets for any items you remember at the last minute.

The interior of the suitcase is fully lined and features two zippered pockets. The largest pocket inside is fully waterproof, so it’s great for toiletries or simply wet clothes. This luggage also comes with a removable shoe/laundry pouch.

Pros

  • Carry-on sized
  • Large waterproof pocket
  • Removable shoe/laundry pouch
  • TSA lock
  • Spinner wheels
  • USB port

Cons

  • Not very durable

  • Dimensions: 2.5" x 14" x 9.5"

Best Underseat Bag

SwissTech Executive 16.5” Under Seat Bag

The SwissTech Executive underseat bag is a great mini-suitcase. This bag is 20” tall with wheels and handles, so it’s more of a carry-on suitcase than a proper underseat bag. It all depends on what airline you’re flying with; this is fine for some American airlines, but not for those in other worldwide countries.

The bag is similar to the Executive suitcase in materials and build quality. It also features double spinner wheels and a telescopic wheel handle, for easy maneuvering at the airport. Also, this wheeled bag features a trolley sleeve in the back, so you can easily mount it on top of a suitcase.

This small suitcase is great for overnight trips, and just as a carry-on in addition to a checked suitcase. It’s got loads of zippered and open pockets inside, as well as pen slots and a key clip. It’s the perfect bag to store all your in-flight essentials, and it’s spacious enough that you can fit enough clothes inside it for an overnight trip.

Additionally, this bag is equipped with a USB port for easy charging on the go, as well as a padded grab handle at the top. It also features two extra zippered pockets on the outside, one of which is situated directly below the USB port.

Pros

  • Spinner wheels
  • USB port
  • Multiple external and internal pockets
  • Trolley sleeve in the back
  • Expandable capacity

Cons

  • Very big for an underseat bag
  • No dedicated computer sleeve

Best Duffel Bag

SwissTech Wanderer Drop Bottom Duffel

The Wanderer drop bottom duffel from SwissTech is a solid option if you’re looking for luggage with a large capacity. It might not be the most durable option from this brand so I don’t think it’s best-suited for air travel, but the duffel is awesome for train travel, buses, and road trips.

This 30” bag weighs less than 8 lbs, which is lighter than some of the brand’s carry-ons. The exact capacity is not specified, but it’s usually around 100 liters with bags of this size, so you should be able to pack for trips longer than two weeks inside the bag.

Also, the drop-bottom design allows you to keep everything separated and neatly organized, or you can just undo the zipper and store everything inside one massive packing compartment.

The best thing about this duffel bag is that it features wheels and a telescopic handle. It’s got in-line skate wheels, which might not be as convenient as spinner wheels but perform significantly better off-road and on cobblestone.

Another reason why this duffel bag is better than some suitcases is the inclusion of pockets. It’s got loads of internal and external pockets, so staying organized should be super simple. With so many different pockets and even an entire additional compartment, two people can easily pack in this bag and keep most of their things separate.

It’s also worth mentioning that the duffel is very affordable, retailing for less than $65 at full price.

Pros

  • Wheels and telescopic handle
  • Internal and external pockets
  • Drop-bottom design
  • Durable fabric
  • Very affordable

Cons

  • Not the most durable option for checked luggage

Product Information

  • Dimensions: 30.5" x 16" x 13.5"
  • Weight: 7.8 lbs

SwissTech Urban Trek Duffle Bag

The Urban Trek duffel bag is a standard duffel with an incredibly affordable price point. This bag normally retails for less than $30, so it’s easily one of the best options for travelers on a tight budget. It’s a 28” duffel bag, so it’s just the right size for trips of two to three weeks.

I wouldn’t recommend this duffel bag as checked baggage because it’s not super durable, but it is a solid option for travel by car, train, and bus. Also, this duffel doesn’t have any wheels and it can weigh a lot when it’s fully packed, so it’s not the easiest piece of luggage to carry around.

The duffel features two grab handles at the top and a longer, detachable shoulder strap. It’s got at least five external pockets and a few more pockets inside, so the organizational features are great. This bag is actually a solid option for couples who prefer to pack in just one large piece of luggage.

The SwissTech bag is made from 840 denier fabric with a water-resistant coating. It’s not entirely waterproof, but the contents of the bag should be protected in case of some light rain. Overall, it’s easily one of my top picks for travelers on a tighter budget who have no intention of heading to the airport with this duffel.

Pros

  • Loads of pockets
  • Very lightweight
  • Affordable
  • Removable shoulder straps

Cons

  • Heavy when fully packed
  • No wheels

Product Information

  • Dimensions: 28" x 15" x 12.5"
  • Weight: 2.1 lbs

Best Backpack

SwissTech Navigation Backpack

Backpacks are my favorite type of luggage and I’m always thrilled to see a decent pack with an affordable price point. The Navigation backpack retails for just under $40, so it’s an affordable option you could easily use instead of a carry-on suitcase.

The pack is made from 1680 denier polyester for excellent durability. The back panel is covered with breathable mesh for excellent ventilation, and there’s lots of padding in the back panel and on the shoulder straps. However, you should know that you don’t get a hip belt or a sternum strap on this bag, which could be an issue when the pack is filled to capacity.

This is an 18” pack that weighs 3 lbs when empty, so it will get quite heavy when it’s fully packed. But that is a problem you can solve if you purchase a hip belt and a sternum strap separately and then just attach them to the bag.

The main compartment of the Navigation pack is very spacious, split into two, and equipped with several smaller pockets. There’s also a padded laptop compartment in the back with dedicated sleeves for a computer and a tablet, as well as an extra front compartment with an organizer panel.

And those are just the big compartments – this backpack features a few smaller pockets and compartments, so there’s loads of packing space.

That’s actually why I think this is a better option than most SwissTech carry-on suitcases, especially for international travel. Additionally, the pack also features D rings and daisy webbing on the front, allowing you to keep some bulkier items attached to its exterior.

Pros

  • Too many pockets to count
  • Padded and ventilated back system
  • USB port
  • Spacious main compartment
  • Ballistic polyester construction

Cons

  • No hip belt or sternum strap

  • Dimensions: 12" x 18" x 8"
  • Weight: 3 lbs

SwissTech Excursion Backpack

The Excursion backpack is somewhat simpler than the Navigation backpack. It still has multiple compartments and a lot of pockets, but not quite as many as the previous bag. This bag also features a somewhat sleeker design, and it’s generally better suited for everyday carry and even as a work bag.

The pack is made from 600D heathered polyester, for really good durability. It’s got one very spacious main compartment that can easily fit your everyday necessities, or just a bunch of clothes for a short trip. There’s no dedicated laptop compartment in the backpack, but there is a convenient laptop sleeve.

This bag also features lots of padding in the back panel and shoulder straps, as well as breathable mesh. The mesh is located on strategic parts of the back panel for good ventilation, but it’s important to note that it doesn’t cover the entire panel. Also, there’s a luggage strap in the back that allows you to easily mount this pack on top of a suitcase and secure it to the wheel handle.

In addition to all that, this SwissTech backpack also features a small compartment on the front panel with an organizer for all your smaller items. There’s also a hidden pocket on the back panel, which is great for stuff you want to keep extra secure, as well as a scratch-free pocket lined with fleece at the top.

I normally use this pocket for my sunglasses or my phone – the items you want to keep just a little extra protected from scratches.

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Padded and ventilated back system
  • Daisy chain on shoulder straps
  • Multiple external pockets
  • Organizer in the front compartment

Cons

  • No dedicated computer compartment
  • No hip belt or sternum strap

  • Dimensions: 18” x 12” x 8”

SwissTech Luggage Reviews: Our Top Choices

If you’re still not sure which of these SwissTech pieces of luggage are the best option for you, go with one of our top choices depending on the type of luggage you want!

If you’re looking to get a suitcase, the Exhibition luggage is by far the best option out of the bunch. It’s made from polycarbonate and features corner reinforcements, so it’s durable enough that I feel confident recommending it even for checked luggage.

The cases are also very affordable and equipped with all the features you would expect in high-quality luggage (spinner wheels, TSA lock, telescopic handle, expandable capacity, and USB port).

Travelers who prefer backpacks should consider the Navigation pack from SwissTech. It’s an amazing backpack for the price, especially for people who love having a dedicated pocket for every single item. This has a TSA-friendly laptop compartment in the back, a main compartment that’s split into two and features several pockets, and a smaller front compartment with an organizer panel.

On top of that, the backpack also features loads of smaller zippered pockets, a padded and breathable back system, and a convenient USB port.

SwissTech also makes duffel bags and the Wanderer duffel is without a doubt one of their best products. It’s equipped with two oversized wheels and a telescopic handle for easy maneuvering, making this bag an awesome option for longer trips. The drop-bottom design allows for easy organization, while the numerous other pockets let you keep all the smaller items separate and more easily accessible.
