Airalo and Holafly are two of the top eSim providers on the market right now and you might be wondering which is right for you.
They both offer a lot of different prepaid eSim data packages for countries and regions all over the world. Each has advantages and disadvantages so it pays to know which one suits where you are going or what your data needs are.
Below I will do a quick summary of the pros and cons of each, then dive a little deeper into eSim package prices and country coverage for each.
Airalo is one of the most popular eSim companies around. And I can only confirm that they are great. I have been traveling a lot the last few months and used their plans in various countries.
I love their flexible packages (small-medium data packages in most countries) and ease of use and renewal on the road. But I thought I would summarise what is great and not so great about Airalo:
Holafly is more of a newcomer to the eSim game but they have lots of advantages in places like Europe, and they are the only ones providing unlimited data packages that I have been able to find.
It makes sense to compare the prices of the different eSims from Holafly and Airalo to see which one is going to save you the most money.
Airalo Europe Prices
Airaolo’s packages are quite competitive, so let me give you some examples:
The more data you buy, the cheaper it gets as you can see above. Also, the more popular and western countries tend to have lower prices. Although, to be honest, having reviewed most eSim providers, that is the pricing variations they all have.
So, Airalo packages cost between $7 – $2 per GB depending on which country / region and how long you want it for.

Holafly rocks when it comes to unlimited data in places like Europe as you can see in the image above.
Let’s compare that to a plan for an eSim in Australia & Canada:
Luckily, both Holafly and Airalo have Apps to help you manage your eSim purchase and usage. This makes using, installing and tracking eSims so much easier than having to work with a website or guess how you are tracking usage.
Airalo App functions
For example, Airalo has all their packages in their App, and lots of other handy features like:
Holafly app functions
Holafly has a similar App you can use to maintain your Holafly eSims and other functions like:
Airalo is one of easiest eSims to buy and use. I would recommend them to most people who just need 1-10 GB for up to 30 days.
They have a decent range of local, regional and global plans. Their service is very good. Their website and mobile App make it easy to buy, monitor and renew your plans. And, they send you emails when your plan is almost empty or expiring – very handy!
The only time I would NOT use Airalo is when you need
In my opinion, Holafly is a great Airalo alternative for regional packages with unlimited data in Europe, the UK and the USA. They are also ideal for anyone looking for an eSim for a more obscure country, as they have double the country coverage list of Airalo.
In general, they are pricier per GB of data, but when you get unlimited data that makes up for it.
Let’s take a look at some of their prices.
Both packages here and Holafly offer 4G connectivity with their eSims so there is no real speed advantage when choosing between them. Of course, depending on which provider they use in each country, there might be slight differences in the speed you receive.
