Things have changed a lot with our phones. Now you can have blazingly fast internet on the go with 5G. And when you add the flexibility of an eSim, it takes things to a new level.
If you’re looking for a 5G eSIM then you are in luck. There are enough options on the market right now, that you should be able to find an eSim for most destinations. And, as time goes on, there will be even more.
So, read on to find out what 5G eSim options you have available.
Airalo is one of the few eSim providers that offers 5G packages. It depends a lot on the country or region you want to get fast 5G for, but there are quite a few available.
Below, I will list all the 5G eSims I have been able to find on the Airalo shop website, so take a look and see if there is a country or region that fits your needs.
You can read our full Airalo review to learn more about this top-notch eSim provider!
Ubigi is another of the rare 5G esim providers around right now. They have quite a long list of countries that have 5G eSims. I will add the list below so you can see what is available.
One thing to keep in mind with Ubigi vs Airalo is that they are usually more expensive, so if you find your plan in the Airalo list above, it is usually a cheaper option.
Here are the countries that have 5G eSim plans from Ubigi:
I have asked a lot of eSim companies what they have in terms of 5G eSims and most of them will say that either they do not or they might have some 5G, sometimes, in some countries, but that it is not guaranteed. Their answers are very vague and there is no information on their websites.
So, for now, the only ones I would try are Airalo and Ubigi as I mentioned above. I will update this if and when I learn about more 5G offersings.
One thing to be aware of anyway is that 5G is a very new technology and is still being rolled out and expanded in most countries. So, even if you get a 5G eSim, it might not be 5G all the time, in every location.
The most likely scenario is that you will get 5G in more built-up areas like big cities, but maybe not all the time.
Let’s take a look at a few examples so you can see what I mean.
The United States is a country you would expect to have great 5G coverage, but given that it is so large and often not densely populated, there are going to be big gaps. Here is a rough map of the coverage, you can go to the source here at BroadbandNow.com and see in more detail on their map.
France has decent 5G coverage, but the majority is in urban areas and cities, and you will see that 4G in comparison is almost everywhere.
For a country like Mexico the coverage in general, including 4G and 5G, is a lot more patchy. So, even if you get 5G it will only be in large cities and more populous areas.
