Best Blue Luggage (Hardside & Softside Options)

Briggs & Riley Baseline

Briggs & Riley Baseline is one of my favorite luggage collections ever and I’m thrilled that they’re available in a beautiful navy blue color. These are some of the best softshell suitcases you can get your hands on, and if you prefer softsides to hardsides, there really is no better option.

The luggage is expensive, but worth every penny because of the excellent craftsmanship, quality materials, and innovative features. The Baseline suitcases are manufactured from very strong ballistic nylon and they’re all equipped with self-repairing YKK zippers.

All the suitcases also feature an outsider handle mounted to the exterior of the luggage, so it doesn’t take anything away from the packing capacity. The double spinner wheels are shock absorbing, smooth, and silent, while the TSA cable combination lock allows you to secure the zippers and have some peace of mind when traveling.

The construction of the suitcase and its external features are amazing, but the packing compartment is the star of the show. It boasts a height-adjustable divider, multiple internal pockets, and even a suiter section.

The Baseline luggage also features the brand’s proprietary CX expansion system, which grants you 25% extra packing space without any zippers. It’s the best thing about this suitcase and the main reason why it’s my favorite softshell ever manufactured.

Briggs & Riley Sympatico

The Sympatico suitcase is another excellent option if you want dark blue luggage and prefer to stick to a premium brand. Briggs & Riley luggage is manufactured with the best materials, and the Sympatico suitcase boasts a durable and flexible shell made from sturdy polycarbonate.

This luggage also features smooth double spinner wheels, an outsider wheel handle, and an integrated TSA-approved combination lock. The wheel handle is an excellent feature; it’s height adjustable and, because it’s mounted to the exterior of the luggage, it does not take away capacity from the main compartment.

The Sympatico suitcase is a great option for travelers who like having multiple pockets and compartments but prefer hardside luggage because of its durability. There’s a height-adjustable divider with pockets inside the suitcase, as well as multiple pockets on the top cover, and even an extra compartment behind the zippered pockets.

This luggage also features a small soft fabric pocket on the outside, between the barrels of the wheel handle. Additionally, the Sympatico luggage is equipped with Briggs & Riley’s CX compression system that allows you to expand the packing capacity of the main compartment and get an additional 22% of the packing space. The expansion system is zipperless, and it functions seamlessly.

Rimowa Essential Cabin

Rimowa Essential Luggage is the brand’s most famous luggage collection. It features suitcases in 11 different sizes, but if you want the blue version of this aluminum suitcase, you’ll only have three options. I will focus on the Cabin case in this review, but you should know that the luggage is also available in Check-In L and Trunk Plus sizes.

The Rimowa luggage is manufactured from aluminum, for the absolute best durability and impact resistance you can get in a suitcase. It boasts a stageless wheel handle that can be locked in any position, which is one of the brand’s proprietary features. The suitcase is also equipped with double spinner wheels and two TSA-approved latch locks.

There are no zippers on this luggage, so it’s as secure as suitcases get. The interior of the Essential Cabin suitcase features two fully lined packing compartments, with Rimowa’s height-adjustable Flex Divider in each of them.

The dividers double as compression pads, and they can allow you to squeeze a few more items than you think will fit in this suitcase.

Overall, the Rimowa luggage is certainly one of the best options out there, but it is very expensive and not for everyone. It’s also not a perfect suitcase; the aluminum construction makes it quite heavy, and it’s got a smaller capacity than most other similarly sized carry-ons.

Travelpro Platinum Elite Compact Carry-On

Travelpro is another popular luggage brand known for the excellent quality of its products. You can often see airline employees wheeling around Travelpro luggage, and if the brand’s good enough for airline professionals, it’s certainly good enough for the average traveler. The luggage from this brand is manufactured with high-quality materials, and it’s not extremely expensive.

The Platinum Elite luggage is available in two shades of blue and you can choose from a light or a dark color. The suitcase is made from polycarbonate for excellent durability and impact resistance, plus it features a telescopic wheel handle and double spinner wheels for easy maneuvering. The wheel handle is height adjustable and you shouldn’t have any issues locking it in a height that fits you perfectly.

This luggage also features an integrated TSA-friendly lock for maximum security, as well as metal reinforcements on the corners. The two packing compartments are both equipped with full-panel zippered dividers and there are multiple zippered pockets inside the luggage.

Additional features of the Platinum Elite luggage include two USB ports (Type-A and Type-C) for charging on the go, an ergonomic grip on the wheel handle, and a water-resistant pocket inside the luggage. If you want a premium suitcase without spending a small fortune, Travelpro Platinum Elite is certainly one of the top contenders.

Tumi 19 Degree International Carry-On

The 19 Degree collection from Tumi features some excellent luggage options. Several suitcases from this collection are available in blue; I’ll focus on the shiny polycarbonate carry-on, but you should know that there’s also an aluminum option, as well as another matte blue polycarbonate suitcase.

In addition to the exceptionally durable shell, this carry-on luggage also boasts a height-adjustable wheel handle, smooth double-spinner wheels, and a TSA-approved combination lock. There’s also a USB port on the luggage for easy charging, as well as retractable grab handles on the top and side of the case.

The Tumi suitcase features a zipper opening and it’s got an expandable capacity. Both packing compartments are fully lined, and the luggage even features antimicrobial coating on the lining, so that it doesn’t absorb any scents.

The top compartment is equipped with a full-panel zippered divider. There’s a small pocket for a power bank inside this compartment, plus there’s a much bigger zippered pocket on the divider. The bottom compartment features tie-down straps to keep the clothes in place and another small zippered pocket.

Overall, Tumi luggage is always a great option if you’re looking for luxury luggage, but it’s important to note that there are many other excellent blue suitcases you can buy that are half the price of this one.

Samsonite Voltage DLX Carry-On Spinner

Samsonite has more than a dozen different blue suitcases and it was really hard to pick just a couple of them that are worth mentioning. The Voltage DLX spinner is certainly one of the better options, especially for travelers who want the lightest luggage available.

This light blue Samsonite luggage is manufactured from polypropylene, which is the lightest material luggage can be made from. It’s not quite as durable as polycarbonate, but it is more durable than ABS and it’s got excellent impact resistance.

The double spinner wheels are smooth, silent, and the same gorgeous light blue color as the rest of the case, which is a really nice touch. The telescopic wheel handle is lightweight and height adjustable, while the TSA-friendly lock offers some peace of mind when traveling. There’s also a USB port on the luggage, as well as low-profile grab handles on the top and side.

The Voltage DLX spinner has expandable capacity and two fully lined packing compartments. One compartment features elastic cross straps, while the other had a full-panel zippered divider. There are two pockets on the divider, one of which is a waterproof zippered pocket perfect for toiletries and wet items.

Samsonite Novaire Carry-On Spinner

This royal blue luggage from Samsonite is a fabulous option if you prioritize durability over weight. The luggage is manufactured from Makrolon polycarbonate, which is the most durable type of plastic suitcase can be made from. The shell is flexible and impact-resistant but it’s not very resistant to scuffs and scratches, so the luggage won’t look brand new for too long.

However, it’s important to note that the Novaire luggage features a textured shell, which is much better at hiding scuffs and scratches than perfectly smooth (and shiny) polycarbonate shells. This suitcase is 21.5” tall, which means that most international airlines will accept it as a cabin bag.

The suitcase features a TSA-approved combination lock, double spinner wheels, and a height-adjustable wheel handle. There are grab handles on the top and side of the case, so you can easily pick it up and place it in the overhead bin.

The packing compartments are fully lined and feature a zippered divider in one and a height-adjustable divider in the other. Both dividers have zippered pockets for easy organization, plus there are tie-down straps to compress your clothes as much as possible.

SwissGear Sion Softside Luggage

SwissGear Sion is an excellent option if you prefer softshell luggage and you’re on a tighter budget. This is one of the most affordable suitcases featured in this review, and it’s surprisingly inexpensive. The price point is surprising to me because it’s manufactured by SwissGear, a reputable brand from Switzerland known for its amazing backpacks.

This suitcase is made from durable polyester with good water and abrasion resistance. It’s got single spinner wheels, a telescopic wheel handle, and an expandable capacity. The luggage doesn’t have an integrated TSA-friendly lock, which is the only downside as far as I’m concerned. And even that’s not a big deal if you need a carry-on.

The interior of the Sion suitcase is fully lined and features tie-down straps to compress the clothes. I really like that you get a total of three internal pockets; there’s a big zippered pocket on the top cover, a smaller zippered pocket inside the main compartment, and a removable waterproof pocket for toiletries and wet clothes.

Additionally, the SwissGear luggage features two external compartments on the front panel. They’re great for items you want to keep easily accessible, especially stuff like your passport, phone, boarding pass, and any other items you might need multiple times at the airport.

Delsey Paris Helium Aero

Delsey Paris Helium Aero is a great option if you’re looking for dark blue luggage. It’s an excellent suitcase collection with four size options, ranging from a small 19” carry-on to a large 29” checked suitcase. Also, the Helium Aero luggage is available in five luggage set options.

The suitcases are affordably priced, which makes them excellent for travelers on tighter budgets. You’re still getting durable luggage manufactured from pure polycarbonate, but without spending a small fortune on a suitcase.

The compact 19” carry-on is my favorite suitcase in this collection and that’s because it has an external compartment. There’s a padded laptop sleeve inside this compartment, as well as several smaller pockets that are absolutely perfect for items you would want to have handy at the airport.

Additionally, the Helium Aero luggage is equipped with double-spinner wheels, a telescopic wheel handle, and a TSA-approved lock. This suitcase has an expandable capacity, soft-touch grab handles on the top and side, and self-repairing zippers.

There are two packing compartments in the Helium Aero luggage. The top one features a mesh zippered divider that allows you to see everything inside the compartment, while the bottom one has elastic cross straps.

American Tourister Fieldbrook XLT

If you want blue luggage set, Fieldbrook XLT by American Tourister is one of my favorite options. This brand is owned by Samsonite, so you can be certain that you’re not getting luggage of poor quality. The luggage set includes two suitcases (21” and 25”), a wheeled duffel bag, and a small underseat bag. This four-piece luggage set retails for a little over $100, and in the last four months, it was never over $130.

The value for money is absolutely there, even if you’re not getting the most premium luggage money can buy. These American Tourister suitcases feature in-line skate wheels, so you won’t be able to maneuver the luggage in any direction. But I must point out that in-line wheels are generally more durable than spinner wheels.

There’s also a telescopic wheel handle, corner reinforcements, top, and side grab handles, and multiple external compartments. The interior of the suitcases is very basic, featuring just one fully lined compartment and a large zippered pocket on the top cover.

The wheeled duffel bag is excellent for short stays and road trips, while the small boarding bag functions as the perfect compassion to your Fieldbrook XLT carry-on suitcase. It makes up for the lack of organizational features inside the suitcases, allowing you to store all the smaller items you want easily accessible at the airport inside it.
