BEARZ Outdoor Beach Blanket

The Bearz blanket is a great choice if you’re looking for something extremely compact and lightweight. It’s great for festivals, picnics and even for the beach.

The blanket is completely waterproof, tear-proof and you can even make it windproof. It has a pocket on each corner, which you can fill up with some sand or rocks so that it stays firmly in place.

However, since this is a really thin and lightweight blanket, it won’t do much in terms of keeping you warm or comfortable. You will feel the ground beneath you, so it’s best if you put this over a beach or yoga mat.

Two people can comfortably fit on this blanket, and it’s even large enough for four people to sit on it.

The best thing about this outdoor blanket is how portable it is. It comes with a waterproof carrying pouch and a carabiner, and the folded dimensions of the blanket are 4.5” x 5”. That can easily fit into your bag, and it won’t take up too much space.

One downside of the Bearz blanket is that you can’t put it in the washer or the drier. It’s recommended that you wash this with cold water and that you hang it to dry. However, because of the material, all the dirt will practically slide right off it.

Kelty Bestie Blanket

The Bestie blanket by Kelty is a great choice if you’re looking for something that will keep you warm and cozy. It is insulated with Cloudloft – Kelty’s synthetic insulation that they frequently use in sleeping bags. Because of the synthetic insulation, this blanket is super lightweight and very warm.

It’s also pretty portable – you get a carrying pouch with the Bestie blanket, which is the same thickness as a 2-liter water bottle (with the blanket in it). And that’s actually pretty great, considering how large this blanket is.

Both sides of the blanket are made from polyester, but different kinds of polyester. Because of that, both sides of the Bestie are very soft and comfortable. However, neither side is fully waterproof, so you might not want to use this in heavy rain. The blanket does have really good water resistance, it’s just not fully waterproof.

This blanket is pretty long, but it’s not too wide. Therefore, it’s the perfect size for one person, but it’s not really the best for sharing with others.

Maybe if you’re sharing it with someone who is really small. But, this is actually one of those blankets that you’re supposed to use to wrap yourself up when you get cold, and not something that you can sit on when camping.

The best thing about this blanket is that it’s machine washable. Kelty recommends that you either wash it by hand with cold water or that you put it in the washer, on a gentle cycler. Because of that, it is super easy to maintain, and it actually holds up pretty well even after several washes.

Down Under Outdoors Quilted Fleece Blanket

This outdoor blanket is very versatile. The bottom layer is made from waterproof material so that you’re always protected in wet weather. And, because there is a double coating between the two external layers of the jacket, the water will never penetrate that material

The top material, on the other hand, is 300 gsm fleece. This is a lightweight fleece, which is often used as insulation or lining in winter jackets. It’s very warm and soft. Because of that, you can sit on this blanket out in nature, or you can use it to wrap yourself up on a chilly evening.

It is a pretty large camping blanket, so it can fit two people comfortably, and up to 4-5 people can sit on it. Perfect for group outings.

The Down Under Outdoors blanket is thicker than most blankets in this price range. That’s good because it means it’s softer and more comfortable to sit on. However, it also means that the blanket is heavier and bulkier – at 2.9 lbs, I wouldn’t exactly call this a portable blanket.

But it does come with a little carrying pouch with the following dimensions: 14.2” x 7.1” x 6.3”. However, once you take the blanket out of that pouch, it’s not so easy to put it back in.

Another thing worth mentioning about this blanket is that it is machine washable. It’s recommended that you put the washing machine on a gentle cycle and that you hang the blanket to dry.

Scuddles Extra Large Picnic & Outdoor Blanket

This is a rather large blanket, and it’s great for outings with a group of people. It’s big enough that 4-5 people can comfortably sit on it.

The bottom side of the Scuddles blanket is made from PEVA, which is basically the same material most shower curtains are made from. Because of that, you can be absolutely sure that it is 100% waterproof.

Well, at least the bottom side is waterproof; the top side is made from a softer and more comfortable material (fleece), so that it feels cozy.

And there is a layer of foam between these two materials, and the blanket is actually pretty comfortable to sit on.

The Scuddles blanket is machine washable, so it’s pretty easy to maintain. And the PEVA material on the bottom side of the blanket is even easier to clean – you can just wipe off the dirt.

This blanket folds into a tote bag with a carry handle, so it is pretty portable. However, the “cover” with the handle secures the body of the blanket with Velcro straps, and that can be an issue. Plus, the blanket weighs about 2.5 lbs, so it’s not exactly lightweight or too portable.

The Velcro is on the side of the blanket that’s not waterproof, so they will be facing upwards. You could get caught on them when sitting around, and that can be a bit annoying. But not a deal-breaker, at least for me.

JJ Cole Outdoor Blanket

The JJ Cole blanket is a good option if you want a blanket that you can comfortably sit on outdoors. It’s made from two different materials – the bottom side is made from polyurethane, which has excellent water resistance. However, it’s not 100% waterproof, so this blanket is not really suitable for heavy rain.

The inside fabric of the JJ Cole blanket is polyester, and it’s pretty soft and comfortable. In addition to that, this blanket features a layer of polyester foam in between the top and bottom layer, so it’s not super thin. This is especially great if you plan to use it with your children, as it will protect them from any debris on the ground.

And the best part about this outdoor blanket is that it’s machine washable and very easy to clean. The bottom part is even easier to maintain since you can just wipe off any dirt of the polyurethane layer with a wet cloth.

The blanket is pretty large, and it can comfortably fit up to 4 people who are sitting. If you plan to lounge around in the sun, then it’s more suitable for two, since it is only 5’ long.

There’s a sewn-in insert that helps you pack up this blanket in a matter of seconds. You could fold the sides inwards, then fold the blanket upwards and secure the Velcro straps to the insert.

You can then carry it like a shoulder bag, because the strap of the blanket is pretty long. I actually find this to be more convenient than the blankets with short straps, since it frees up your hands.

Lightspeed Outdoors XL Plush Fleece Blanket

This is a good option if you want a blanket that you can wrap yourself in. The upper side of it is soft fleece, so it feels quite warm and comfortable. The bottom side of the blanket is made from water resistant material, so it will protect you in case of rain.

The material of the bottom of the blanket also means that you can use this blanket for picnic or camping trips, as something to sit on. However, it is not 100% water resistant – because the bottom layer is made from woven fabric and not plastic, if you let a puddle sit on it for a while, the water will start to seep through.

This is one of the biggest blankets I managed to find. It’s large enough to cover two people, and more than 4 can sit on it comfortably.

The Lightspeed Outdoors blanket packs down to 15.3” x 6.3” in the waterproof stuff sack. It’s very portable and convenient to carry around, especially since it’s not too heavy. The blanket is not exactly lightweight, but that’s completely expected considering the materials.

And it is machine washable, so it’s super easy to clean. No matter how dirty it gets, you can just throw it in the washer, which is great. Plus, you can also put the blanket in the dryer, which makes it even better.

MIU COLOR Large Waterproof Outdoor Picnic Blanket

If you’re looking for a ridiculously good deal, the Miu Color blanket is probably your best option. You can get it for some $15, and it is by far the cheapest blanket out of the bunch.

This is a pretty large blanket. It’s suitable for two people lying down, or for four people sitting on it, with some extra space for food and drinks. And there is a sewn-in insert on the blanket, which allows you to fold it into a little tote with a carry handle. Because of that, this is actually a very portable and convenient blanket.

But it is definitely not warm. It’s one of those blankets that’s more like a mat than a proper blanket. Plus, this is a pretty thin blanket, so I would recommend using it with a thicker mat underneath if you want to be a bit more comfortable on concrete or rocky terrain. But you will be fine with just this on sand and grass.

The Miu Color blanket is made from polyester and PVC, so it’s pretty durable and waterproof. I’m not really sure if it is machine washable, as some people say it is and some say it isn’t. But I think you can put this on a gentle cycle, if you get it really dirty.

One downside to this blanket is that the stains don’t really come out. The manufacturer actually recommends that, in case you spill a drink on the blanket, you try to absorb the liquid with tissues, and clean it with a wet cloth.

However, this doesn’t really work that well, so you should be pretty careful to not stain the blanket.

The upside is that it’s only available in colorful prints, so the stains won’t be that noticeable anyway.

Wild in Bloom Oversized Beach Blanket

If you like pretty things, then this is the blanket for you. It’s actually a very stylish blanket – the color is perfect, and the frilling on the ends makes it look really good. Plus, it even looks good when you’re carrying it, since the blanket is rolled and secured with leather belts.

The blanket comes in a white box with a satin bow, which is a really nice touch. Right from the start you have that luxe feel with Wild in Bloom.

This is actually a pretty versatile blanket. The bottom side of it is made from water-resistant materials, so that you can use it as a picnic mat. And the top side is made from an acrylic wool blend, and it is warm and soft.

But keep in mind that this is not a waterproof blanket – you shouldn’t use it in snow or on wet ground, because you will get wet.

One thing to note about this blanket is that it’s fairly small, especially when compared to other blankets in this review. But it’s still large enough that two people can lie down on it.

The Wild in Bloom blanket is machine washable, which is great. It’s easy to clean and maintain, just like a fancy outdoor blanket should be. Just put it on the gentle cycle, so that you don’t mess up the leather accents.

The only thing I don’t really like about this blanket is the price tag. It is pretty expensive for an outdoor blanket, but the quality really justifies it.

yodo Extra Large Outdoor Waterproof Picnic Blanket

The yodo outdoor blanket is probably my favorite out of the bunch for picnics and outings in the nature. It’s made from PEVA backing on the bottom, so it is almost completely waterproof. And on top the blanket is made from soft fleece, which is actually very warm and cozy. The middle layer is soft foam.

It’s a versatile blanket – it’s perfect for group outings in the nature, but it will also do a good job at keeping you warm and dry in case you get caught in the rain outside. Plus, it’s very colorful and fun, so your kids will love it.

There are two sizes to choose from with the yodo blanket, which is pretty cool. Grab the larger one if you usually spend time with a lot of people, and get the smaller one if it’s just you and your partner. The smaller blanked can fit up to 5 sitting adults, while the larger one can fit up to 6.

The blanket folds into a tote with a carry handle, so it is very portable. And it’s not too heavy either, at 2.43 lbs for the big blanket and 1.83 lbs for the smaller one. Overall, it’s a good ratio of size and weight.

The plastic on the bottom of the yodo is very easy to clean – you can just wipe it with a wet cloth. Should you need to wash the entire blanket, you can put it in the washing machine on the gentle cycle.

Pittsford Outfitters Spectator Outdoor Blanket

If you want a versatile, weatherproof blanket, then this is one of your best options. The Pittsford Outfitters Spectator blanket is made from woven poly fabric on the outside, which is both waterproof and windproof. On the inside, the blanket is made from 300g polar fleece, which is very soft and warm.

You get a carrying pouch with this blanket, which is waterproof and has an integrated handle. Because of that, this blanket is very portable and convenient to carry around, especially since it measures 7” around and 14” long when stuffed in the pouch.

It’s a blanket that you can sit on in nature, and you can also wrap yourself up and be warm. You can choose from four colors of the blanket, but keep in mind that only the bottom part of it is in a different color and that the fleece is always black. Oh, and the pouch that the blanket comes with matches the color of its bottom layer.

This is a big blanket, but it’s not an extremely large one. It can fit maybe three people lying down, and 4-5 adults sitting.

The Pittsford Outfitters blanket is machine washable, so it’s very easy to clean. The bottom layer s particularly easy to clean – you can just wipe it with a damp cloth. The fleece is a bit more difficult to deal with.
