Best Tactical Wallet in 2023

Gone are the days of thick leather wallets that have you sitting on a slant when they’re in your back pocket. Today everything has gone digital. Our cards are virtual, you can pay with your phone or watch, and your receipts tend to arrive by email. We need to carry far less in our wallets.

A few cards, some cash, and that’s about all we really need for our daily lives.

But, our wallets still go everywhere with us and carry a lot of our life around along with them. They get thrown around, put in pockets, dropped in tables, and suffer quite a lot of wear and tear.

They’re also under threat from new technology like card scanners (RFID) that lift all your personal information without you even knowing it.

Tactical wallets are made to deal with the strain of today. They’re streamlined, practical, portable, durable, and secure your data from anyone trying to scan it.

In this review, we run through some of the best tactical wallets on the market so that you can find the right one for your needs.

Best Tactical Wallets

Roco Minimalist Tactical Wallet

The Roco Minimalist Tactical Wallet is one of the most popular tactical wallets on the market and you can see why it’s pretty good looking as wallets go.

It’s just a bit bigger than a credit card thanks to its sleek design and is ideal for putting in your pocket. It won’t bulge or irritate you while you’re walking around.

It’s made from two pieces of high-grade aluminum with a silicone band to hold everything inside. The aluminum is light and makes this wallet just 2.23 oz. and therefore very easy to carry around.

There is room for 20 cards inside the wallet, more than anyone could ever need. The aluminum plates also protect your cards from RFID data theft so you can walk around without having to worry about anything.

There isn’t a money clip on this wallet but you can store cash under the silicone band. Just make sure not to drop it each time you want to get a card out. It’s also very hard to get cards in and out of the wallet as the silicone band is very tight and the wallet is too streamlined.

Overall a great tactical wallet at a great price.

The Radix One Tactical Wallet is another light and minimalistic wallet. It’s just bigger than a credit card, lightweight, and keeps your cards, data, and cash safe.

The Radix One is made from two pieces of stainless steel with a silicone band keeping them together. It’s exceptionally durable and protects your data from RFID, so you can walk around without worry.

You can it up to 10 cards, more than enough and you can store your cash in the silicone band. Unlike other wallets, you do not need to undo the band to access your cards, keeping your cash from accidentally being dropped.

To get a card, simply push one side to fan them out and pick the one you need. Once you’ve used it, pop it back in and push the fan back in. It’s simple and practical but some users have found it a little tricky and end up having to remove all their cards to find the one they want.

Most Tactical

Dango Tactical Wallet

Dango Slim Minimalist Wallet for Men - RFID Blocking - Leather + Multi-Tool, Brown Rawhide/Raw Aluminum

The Dango Tactical Wallet looks more like a normal wallet than a tactical one thanks to the genuine leather cover. It has a warm look and feels about it, plus it’s more tactical than most.

It’s made from 6061 aerospace-grade CNC’d aluminum making it super tough and very light at the same time. Weighing just over 2 oz. this wallet will be comfortable in your pocket but not so light you won’t notice if it’s gone. The materials also protect your cards from RFID.

It can fit up to 12 cards plus some cash securely and once you get used to how the cards come in and out, it’s very easy to use. The cash sits inside the silicone band like many others, for easy access.

Included in the wallet is Dango’s credit card multi-tool. It locks into the wallet when pulled out so you can use the entire thing as a saw, for cutting and self-defense. There are 14 tools/functions available including hexes, paracord cutter, nail pryer, knife, saw, and a phone stand.

Dango Dapper Tactical Wallet

Dango Slim Minimalist Wallet for Men - RFID Blocking - Leather, Whiskey Brown/Satin Silver

The Dango Dapper Wallet is very similar to the Dango Tactical Wallet, the main differentiator being that the Dapper is less expensive and comes without a multi-tool but has a sexy bi-fold design, in-keeping with traditional wallets.

Made from aerospace-grade aluminum and wrapped in top grain leather, the Dapper looks awesome. It’s durable as hell, has space for 12 cards in its bi-fold design, and features a silicone band money clip down the center.

Your cards will remain safe and secure inside the wallet thanks to the RFID protection and the bi-fold design makes them super easy to access.

The Dapper is light and slim, you’ll barely feel it in your pocket but you’ll notice if it’s not there. It’s also much nice to feel leather than metal rubbing around in your pocket.

The Dapper is certainly one of the best-looking and most practical wallets in the review and is well worth a few extra dollars.

Gerber GDC Money Clip

Gerber Gear GDC Money Clip with Pocket Knife - Fixed Blade Knife and Case - EDC Gear and Equipment - Stainless Steel

The Gerber GDC Money Clip takes tactical and streamlined design to another level in this review. It’s not really a wallet, but a clip that holds cash, cards and has a hidden blade.

The clip is strong and has enough space to hold your cash plus five cards securely. This makes it very slim and easy to access everything you need but it lacks the organization and RFID protection of some of the other tactical wallets in the review.

It’s made from a titanium-coated steel body that’s rugged and durable. On one side you have a G10 plate for grip and on the other the clip with a large engravable surface, so you can personalize it so you can ID it if you lose it.

There is a fixed blade knife hidden into the card. It’s made from stainless steel and has a 1,75″ blade that’s easy to access in a time of need, ideal for any surprise situation.

The Gerber GDC Money Clip is great if you’re the kind of guy who roles with one card, some cash, and is looking for a self-defense element.

  • It's very affordable
  • Extremely streamline
  • Includes a hidden knife
  • Holds just enough cards
  • Includes a lifetime warranty

Cons

  • There's only a clip for cards and cash
  • Fiddly to find the card you need
  • No RFID protection

Toughergun Tactical Wallet

Toughergun Genuine Leather Magnetic Front Pocket Money Clip Wallet RFID Blocking(Coffee)

The Toughergun Tactical Wallet is one of the best looking and most practical wallets in the review, plus it’s the most affordable.

Made from genuine leather with detailed stitching, it looks fantastic and has a great feel when in your hands. On one side you have three credit card slots and 3 larger card slots which also work for credit cards if you need them too.

Down the middle is a money clip that is held to the wallet using rare-earth magnets, the strongest around, to ensure your money isn’t going anywhere. On the other side of the wallet are a transparent ID holder and another card slot.

It comes with RFID protection but only for credit card frequencies, 125 kHz proximity card RFID signals are not blocked which is a huge shame, as this wallet has it all, except for full RFID.

Nite Ize Tactical Wallet

Nite Ize Financial Tool RFID Blocking Wallet - Stainless Steel 10-in-1 Dual-Plated Multi-Tool Wallet - Compact Wallet with Scraper, Bottle Opener, Flat Head Screwdriver & More - Black

The Nite Ize Tactical Wallet is as much a multi-tool as it is a wallet with quite an ingenious design. It’s not very pretty but it sure is practical.

It’s made from two stainless steel cards cut out to give tools on both sides with a tensile strap to hold any cards or cash in between them in place. It provides full RFID protection, is smart, light, durable, and simple.

Your cards are not hard to access but aren’t that easy either. There is a dedicated slider slot which’ll get the top or bottom card out quite easily though.

Within the stainless steel cards, you have a bottle opener, scraper, 5 standard wrench sizes, 6 metric wrench sizes, flathead + Phillips screwdrivers, scraper, protractor, and a metric + standard ruler.

What To Look For In A Tactical Wallet

Here are some key factors to think about if you’re still unsure of which tactical wallet is best for you. We go through the most important things to consider here and it’s well worth the read.

It’s Still A Wallet

It’s very easy to get caught up in the tactical side of these wallets but, it’s absolutely key that the one you choose will perform well as a wallet, along with your tactical needs. Be sure it will hold enough cards and cash for your day-to-day life and don’t sacrifice this for any tactical additions.

Most of the wallets in the review will hold 5-20 cards, and perhaps less than the number quoted depending on if or how much cash you like to carry around with you. Bear this in mind and pick the wallet that’s going to manage what you need, every day.

Accessibility

It’s all well and good having a wallet that’s sleek, secure and holds enough cash and cards for you, but it’s pretty useless if you can’t access your cash or cards easily and efficiently.

The last thing you want is to have to take everything out of your wallet in order to pay for something and then put it all back in again, every time you want to buy something.

All the wallets in the review have different ways of accessing and storing your cash and cards. Make sure to pick one that suits you.

RFID

Almost all the wallets in the review come with RFID protection that stops criminals from getting your valuable data when they scan your cards. This is a great thing to have in a tactical wallet and gives such lovely peace of mind, knowing that while you walk around, no one can steal any of your data.

Not all the wallets offer full RFID protection, some only offer part-protection. Please be aware of this and choose your wallets accordingly.

Price

The tactical wallets in the review range from $10 to over $100 and this is a reflection of the materials they’re made of and how long the wallet may last. If you lose your wallet a lot, it might be worth buying a few of the $10 options, but if you know your wallet is for life, then spend it a bit more to get the one that’ll last the longest.

Extra Features

A tactical wallet usually means some solid RFID protection and sleek, slim design. However, there are some that are more tactical than others and include a multi-tool, a blade, or more. If you want these extra’s, they’re there for you in some of the choices but you may have to deal with some extra weight or less space for cards/cash.
