The Beloi Viewpoint is one of the best places to get a view of the Vikos Gorge. Especially if you are on the southern end of the gorge, around Monodendri.
The viewpoint is a short hike from the town of Vradeto and can also be combined with the Vradeto steps hike if you want a longer day hike in this area of Zagori in the Pindos mountains.
The hike starts on the northern end of the village of Vadreto, and begins with a short stretch of dirt road to the main trailhead.
The Beloi Viewpoint Balcony
The Beloi Viewpoint is actually a small stone balcony built at the junction of two parts of the Vikos Gorge. So, you can get a breathtaking view into the gorge from here.
Second Beloi Viewpoint
If you go look to the right as you return to Vradreto (just before the main viewpoint), there is another viewpoint of the earlier part of the gorge. It is very exposed, so not for those with a fear of heights. But it is something to behold!
If you are reasonably fit, this is an easy walk. It is only around 1-hour return and the height difference is around 150m. The terrain is undulating with a mixture of dirt and rocks, so good shoes are necessary.
However, if you are not used to walking or it is a hot day, please take it easy. Also, be sure to take enough water as there is none on the hike.
Vradeto Village
In theory, you could drive to this trailhead and shorten the walk (some people do), but the majority of people park just outside the village at the dirt road. There is enough space for 20+ cars, and given how driving and parking is in Greece, maybe a lot more!
There is little to no parking in the village, and you would actually struggle to enter the village itself. So, don’t try!
