8 Fun Ways To Use Your SIA KrisFlyer Miles

So, now you have started collecting lots of miles in KrisFlyer account. Now, you are wondering what you can do with them before they expire!

There are lots of different ways to redeem your miles using your KrisFlyer membership from flights and upgrades to spending them on gifts, hotels or travel.

Let’s take a closer look at all the options and benefits you can use.

Singapore Airlines Flights

The simplest and most common way to redeem your KrisFlyer miles is to book an awards flight. You can fly almost anywhere in the world to and from Singapore. With the cheapest option being 15,000 miles at the time of writing. This takes you to the closest neighbors of Singapore (Malaysia, Indonesia & Brunei).

The most expensive option you can choose is 302,500 miles for a suite from Singapore to the USA. You can check the full awards chart here. Or, you can use the miles calculator to be absolutely sure you get it right.

If you are flying with Singapore Airlines’ cheaper airline Scoot, you can also mix cash and miles to pay for the flight.

Singapore Flight Upgrades

Upgrades are always a great way to optimise the use of your KrisFlyer miles. Why not splurge and give yourself a Premium Economy instead of Economy seat, or even better – a Business Class seat when you only paid for Economy? Sounds sweet, right?

It can be cost-effective in many parts of the world and Singapore Airlines has a chart you can check out to see what it would cost you.

Some examples include

  • a Premium Economy upgrade from Singapore – West Coast USA for 50,500 miles.
  • a Business Class upgrade from Singapore to Australia for 86,500 miles

Partner Airlines Flights

If you were not already aware, Singapore Airlines is part of what is called the Star Alliance. This is a partnership between some of the world’s top 26 airlines. It includes such top airlines as Swiss, United, Air Canada, SAS, TAP, Air China, Austrian, and many more.

The great advantage to you as a KrisFlyer member is that you can book flights not only with Singapore Airlines using your KrisFlyer miles. But also with any member of Star Alliance. Of course, like with most airlines, the number of seats in each class and flight is limited. So, it always pays to book early

However, the option is always there. Yes, you can fly with SIA or Scoot, but also get an upgrade or fly with a Star Alliance member. It’s a win-win-win!

Hotel Stays

Accommodation is one of those things that make or break a vacation. And after arriving from a free flight with your KrisFlyer miles what better way to spend a night than with more free miles.

KrisFlyer has a specific website for hotels and car rentals called vRooms. And with more than 350,000 unique properties (insane I know) you will always find somewhere great to stay no matter where you are going.

You can combine cash with miles too, which is handy.

Car Rentals

Yes, KrisFlyer has been busy finding more and more ways for you to spend your miles. And what better way to complement your hotel stay and flight than to rent a car when you arrive? KrisFlyer vRooms is their website for finding the perfect ride for you when you land.

KrisFlyer says on their website that you can use as few as 1500 miles to receive some great discounts on rentals. Sure, the car might not be accessible if you don’t have boatloads of miles. But it helps!

Singapore Airlines has also been collating a range of unique experiences on their website you can use your KrisFlyer miles on too. It varies from month to month and year to year and also depends on where you live. After all, you might have access to a K-Pop concert, but don’t live in South Korea or have an offer to visit Disneyland in the USA but live in Australia. Spend While In Singapore with Kris+

Kris+ App

Kris+ App

Singapore Airlines has made spending your miles easier while you are visiting Singapore itself. Using their Kris+ App you can spend your miles in the city at over 1000 partners on the island. This means you can go shopping, out for a meal or do any other number of things while you are visiting.

And SIA has also made it even more compelling with a 6% reward on miles spent in the App and a bonus draw every day for spenders.

Donate Your KrisFlyer Miles

If you wish to do something good with your Singapore Airline miles you can donate them. Since as far back as 2017, SIA has been working with the Make A Wish Foundation in Singapore. They support wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.

You may have seen this organisation in other countries. The idea is great. Kids who have significant medical illnesses, often with no long-term outcome are given hope and support by making a dream of theirs come true. Going to see their favorite band and meeting the lead singer. Doing something they have always dreamed of, or simply having their bedroom redesigned. No wish is too crazy!
