If you are in need of functional boots that will keep you warm, comfortable, and dry even in temperatures below zero, read on to find out if the Sorel Conquest boots are the ones that you are looking for. View Latest DealIf you are a person that likes to stay active during the winter, then you know how hard it is to find good, practical footwear. The Sorel Conquest boots are designed for people who aren’t afraid to go on new adventures even in the most extreme of conditions. With these boots, no outdoor activity is impossible.
Sorel has made sure that you will stay comfortable whether you want to go hunting, ice-fishing, or just hiking in the snow. They are a Canadian company that specializes in creating premium footwear, that is designed to endure all kinds of weather conditions.
So, if you are in need of functional boots that will keep you warm, comfortable, and dry even in temperatures below zero, read on to find out if the Sorel Conquest boots are the ones that you are looking for.
The upper part of the boots is made from waterproof full-grain leather, and their bottom part is made from molded waterproof thermal rubber. Because they are made from rubber, they’re quite easy to clean, particularly if they get a bit muddy.
They also feature a built-in snow gaiter, which makes them adequate for use in heavy snow. The gaiter will make sure that the snow stays on the ground, and that your feet stay comfortable and toasty even if the boots get wet on the outside.
Sorel Conquest boots are insulated with 400 grams of Thinsulate Ultra insulation, which will keep you warm in temperatures as low as -40 degrees F.
They also feature interior fleece lining that makes them comfortable to wear, and ensures that your feet stay dry. This also allows you to wear just one pair of socks with the boots since they will protect you from the cold quite well on their own.
These boots are obviously designed to be sturdy and to endure all kinds of cold weather conditions. Because of that, they are not really lightweight; in fact, they weigh around 2.3lbs per pair. Since that weight accounts for the insulation of the boots and all the other added features, we didn’t really expect them to be any lighter.
The Sorel Conquest boots are incredibly sturdy, so they might be a little tight when you first take them out of the box. It could take some effort to get your feet inside them for the first time, and you might need to break them in a little bit.
Other than that, the boots are true to size, and since you really can wear them with just one pair of socks, we suggest that you get them in your usual shoe size. They also feature a removable EVA footbed, so it’s easy to ensure that they fit perfectly. You can put in any type of footbed you want in them, be it a high arch support footbed, or a plain flat one.
These boots are designed to be firm and practical, so the style is not really that big of a factor. Why would you care about their color when half the time they are going to be covered in snow anyway? Nevertheless, it’s always good to have options. The range of colors that the boots come in actually changes every year. For now, you can get them on Amazon in 3 different colors: British Tan, Bark & Boulder.
The boots are about 9” tall and their upper part is very firm, so you will get enough ankle support when wearing them. They will also provide you with excellent stability on all types of surfaces. This does mean that they are not too flexible, but their height definitely helps to keep your ankles sprain-free.
Sorel Conquest boots also feature an Achilles adjustment strap that you can tighten as much as you need. The strap will keep your heels in place, and provide you with firm support even in the worst of conditions. And, they are equipped with steel shanks, which will give you even more support.
The outsoles of the boots feature multi-directional rubber lugs for traction and grip. So, whether you plan to thread through ankle-deep snow, or you want to go ice-fishing, it won’t feel much different from walking on concrete.
With all the added features to the Sorel Conquest boots that we’ve talked about, you’d think they’d be as durable as a tank, right? Well, we might have some bad news for you there. We did come across one common problem with these boots. It seems that after some time (depending on how much you wear them) they begin to fall apart.
The upper, leather part of the boots starts to separate from the rubber part, and unfortunately, not even your favorite shoemaker can stitch them back together. This also means that they won’t stay fully waterproof, as water will be able to seep in through the cracks. However, Sorel does offer a one-year warranty on them, so if this actually happens to you, you can always return them.
If you need sturdy boots that you can wear when hiking, ice-fishing, or basically doing anything else in heavy snow, then these are an excellent choice. They will keep you warm, and provide enough support for basically any winter outdoor activity.
The boots will also keep your feet dry, regardless of how much time you spend in the snow. So, if you are looking for highly functional boots that you can wear even in the most extreme weather conditions, look no further. These are the perfect choice for you.
If, however, you are in need of lightweight, practical boots that will keep you warm when you are out and about, the Sorel Conquest boots might not be the ideal choice. There are other great boots for you out there, and be sure to check out our review of the North Face Back to Berkeley boots, though – they might be just right for you!
