View Latest DealThere is nothing worse than being woken up due to a hot night’s sleep and it always happens when you’re camping out in the summertime or in super hot places. As soon as that sun comes up, your tent starts to get sweaty, and even having a portable fan doesn’t quite keep you cool enough.
Well, those hot mornings and nights while camping out will be a thing of the past with the Zero Breeze Mark 2, a portable air conditioner that really does keep you cool and work anywhere.
Surprised that such a thing as a portable air conditioner would actually work? We were too, which is why we had to take a deep look at the Zero Breeze Mark 2 in the review below.
For an air conditioner to be of any use whatsoever, it has to be efficient at cooling. So, how does the Zero Breeze Mark 2 do when it comes to keeping you cold?
The Zero Breeze Mark 2 comes with 2300 BTUs of cooling power which means it is a pretty efficient cooler.
It isn’t as powerful as an air conditioner unit you would have in your home but it is more than powerful enough to cool a smaller space.
Once on, you can cool a small space of 20-40 square feet very quickly and reduce the temperature by up to 30 degrees Fahrenheit in less than 10 minutes.
This makes the Zero Breeze Mark 2 very effective at cooling a 4-6 person tent, a bedroom in a cabin, a car, and even an RV. You can also use it to keep you cool at home if your bedroom isn’t too big either.
The Zero Breeze Mark 2 comes with two pipes that are designed to enhance its cooling effects to the max.
The first pipe is an extension pipe that you can plug into the unit and direct the cold air to exactly where you want it to go.
This is great when using the air conditioner in compact places or if you want the cold air to be blown directly onto you while you sleep.
The other pipe is a heat dissipation pipe that channels all the hot air the air conditioning unit is removing, outside of the space you are trying to cool.
All you need to do is channel the pipe through your tent zipper, out a crack in a window, or out a door. This way all the heat is removed from your tent, room, or cabin to enhance the cooling effect of the air conditioner to the maximum.
While the Zero Breeze Mark 2 is excellent at cooling a space efficiently, if it keeps you awake with a load of noise, is it really worth it? Probably not.
Now, no air conditioner is silent as it would be impossible since they require a fan and condenser to work, which does make some noise.
The Zero Breeze Mark 2 does have a humming sound to it but it is not too noisy in our opinion at just 52dB. You will be able to sleep with it running in the background but if you are a light sleeper it might get inside your head.
It’s worth testing it out to ensure the noise matches your sleep patterns as everyone is a little different when it comes to sleep and what noise they can or can’t sleep with.
One of the things that makes the Zero Breeze Mark 2 such an effective portable air conditioner is its awesome power options.
You have the choice to either plug the air conditioner directly into a 240-volt power outlet in your bedroom or cabin, or you can buy the unit with one or two of the Zero Breeze Mark 2 batteries. You can also plug it into your own 24V power supply if you have one.
When plugged directly into a wall outlet you can run the Zero breeze Mark 2 all day and night long without any worries, but this doesn’t make it such a portable option for use when camping or RV-ing.
If you want to use the Zero Breeze Mark 2 on the road and out in nature, you will need to buy it with the Zero Breeze Mark 2 batteries.
The Zero Breeze Mark 2 battery is a 18650 Lithium-Ion Polymer Battery that you simply sit the air conditioner on top of, so using it is incredibly simple.
It takes about 6 hours to fully charge the battery while it is connected to a standard wall outlet, so some pre-planning is key to ensuring you have all the charge you need while out on an adventure.
You can also charge the battery by plugging it into a 12-volt outlet of a car, which means you can charge it on the road. This is super handy and not only can you charge it from your car, but you can also charge it with solar panels too.
This means no matter how remote an adventure you are going on, you can bring the Zero Breeze Mark 2 with you and keep it topped up during the day by connecting it to your portable solar panels.
The Zero Breeze Mark 2 can run for 3 to 5 hours on a single charge depending on what mode you are using.
This is quite an impressive amount of cooling time for a portable air conditioner but it won’t last the 10 hours you might need it to through the night.
I would highly recommend getting two batteries for the Zero Breeze Mark 2Â as by doing so you can ensure it continues working all night long, for up to 10 hours on the right mode.
You also have the option to plug the Zero Breeze Mark 2 into your own 24 V power supply if you have one.
The Zero Breeze Mark 2 is designed for portability but how portable is it actually? Let’s take a look.
The Zero Breeze Mark 2 weighs in at 16.5 lbs and it measures 20″L x 10″W x 11″H without a battery.
As far as air conditioners go, it is super light and compact so you will be able to load it into your car with ease, find a space for it in your car or tent, and walk it to your campsite if you are camping in a remote spot.
It also comes with a handy handle on the top which makes carrying it very easy.
The battery for the Zero Breeze Mark 2 weighs in at 12 lbs and is 20″L x 8.6″W x 2.3″H in size.
When carried together this does make the unit quite heavy at 28.5 lbs but if that is a weight you can’t manage you can always carry them separately.
As I mentioned earlier, the unit comes with two pipes, one to let the heat out and one to direct the cooling air to exactly where you want it.
You will also have to carry these and take them with you but they are super light and easy to pack.
Overall, the Zero Breeze Mark 2 is highly portable but you will most likely have to do a few trips to load it and unload it from your car.
The Zero Breeze Mark 2 is an excellent portable air conditioner and it’s not just its portability, battery life, and excellent cooling that make it so great, there is more.
This unit comes with 4 different modes including Cool, Fan, Sleep, and Rocket.
Cool simply cools the area, Rocket is turbo cooling that will bring the temperature down fast, and Fan mode is great when it’s not hot enough for AC but you still need some airflow.
You have 4 different levels of fan speed so you can have a gentle breeze or a lot of airflow, depending on your preferences.
Sleep mode is designed for when you go to sleep and when engaged the noise levels are greatly reduced and energy efficiency goes through the roof.
This is a long-running setting to ensure you can get as much cooling time as possible out of your battery as you sleep.
The Zero Breeze Mark 2 comes with two charging outlets, USB and USB-C. This allows you to keep your phones topped up and you can even plug a power-hungry laptop into the outlet as well.
The Zero Breeze Mark 2 is ruggedly built to ensure it can survive any adventure you take it on. It also comes with IPX4 waterproofing which means it is 100% splash-proof in every direction.
This means you won’t have to worry if anyone spills anything on the unit as it can handle it.
When it comes to value for money, the Zero Breeze Mark 2 is a hard one to work out.
The unit costs $999 without the batteries, and each battery is $498 so you can buy a full unit for $1499.
This may seem pretty expensive considering an AC unit you would buy for a bedroom at home costs $500 but you can consider the portability side of things.
Overall, if you want a portable AC unit you can take anywhere, then spending around $1500 is what to expect.
Scoring 84 out of 100, the Zero Breeze Mark 2 air conditioner has done exceptionally well against our rating system.
It only lost points for value for money as it is expensive, and a few points for the noise it creates too.
Overall, the Zero Breeze Mark 2 is an awesome air conditioner that you can take on any adventure.
Between its portability, ease of use, excellent modes, great cooling power, and rugged durability, it is THE portable air conditioner everyone should have when heading out into the wilderness.
Yes, the Zero Breeze Mark 2 is quite expensive, but considering it is going to last for years and years to come, it is a great cooling investment.
