Delsey Paris is actually a very popular brand. Lots of people who can’t really afford suitcases that tend to be really expensive (ahem Tumi), will pick these up instead. But is there more to them, than the attractive price tag?
Plus, bear in mind that not all of their suitcases are exactly cheap. But they are made from premium materials and have lots of different features. So, let’s check out everything that these French suitcases have to offer!

Let’s kick off the review strong, with one of Delsey’s all-time best-sellers. The Helium Aero collection is is a crowd favorite, with thousands of positive reviews and 5-star ratings. This luggage collection features 4 Polycarbonate suitcases, one of which is an international carry-on – the 19”. That suitcase is also unique because it features an external zippered compartment for your electronics; something we rarely see on hardside luggage.
The Aero suitcases all feature double spinner wheels that roll quietly. They are also pretty smooth and give you great maneuverability of your luggage. The wheel handle helps with that – it’s extendable and double-barrel, and it locks into position when extended. There is also a TSA combination lock on all of these suitcases, that will give you some peace of mind in your travels.
There are also two carry handles – top and side – and they are padded and soft so that you can comfortably lift up your packed suitcase. Pretty useful, especially since the wheel handle doesn’t really have any padding.
These Delsey suitcases have an expandable capacity, which is perfect if you like to do some shopping on your trips. Both packing compartments in the Aero are fully lined, but only one of them has a zippered divider with pockets. The other compartment features tie-down straps to keep your clothes in place, as well as a single pocket.

The Titanium luggage is actually pretty similar to the Aero collection. These are also made from pure Polycarbonate, and so they have excellent impact resistance and durability. One difference is that these Delsey suitcases have a matte finish, unlike the metallic finish of the Aero luggage. They are also slightly heavier, but it’s not a too big difference.
This luggage features double spinner wheels and a telescopic wheel handle that locks into position when extended. These features give you great maneuverability of your suitcase and help you get from point A to point B with the Titanium effortlessly. There is also a TSA lock on all of them, that makes all of your belongings perfectly safe.
The smallest suitcase out of the bunch has an external electronics compartment, which includes a padded laptop sleeve. The larger suitcases don’t have this, but they do have two fully lined packing compartments with expandable capacity. The bottom compartment features tie-down straps and a zippered pocket, while the top compartment has a full zippered divider with a mesh pocket.
The top and side carry handles on these suitcases are padded and soft. Also, the Titanium suitcases are slightly cheaper than the Aero ones, especially the smaller options. If you’re interested, you can read a more detailed comparison I did on these two Delsey collections.

The Alexis collection mostly features sets of suitcases. You can get the smallest one individually, but all the others are only available in 2-piece and 3-piece sets, so keep that in mind. They are great value for money though since a set of three suitcases will cost you less than $250.
One thing to note is that the smallest suitcase is 24” tall with the wheels and the handle, so it might not be the best option as a carry-on. You won’t have issues with some domestic US airlines, but most European airlines won’t let you bring it in the cabin.
All of these suitcases are made from ABS plastic, which is not really as durable as Polycarbonate. Since it is plastic, it will break and not bend upon hard impact – hence the lower prices. But they are more scratch-resistant, especially because of their grained texture. And you get double spinner wheels on all of them, which roll really smoothly.
The suitcases have interlocking zippers, which keep all of your belongings secure. But that’s all you get in terms of the safety of your items – there are no TSA locks on this Delsey luggage. Their interior consists of two packing compartments- one has elastic cross straps, and the other has a mesh divider without any pockets. Overall, it’s pretty easy to see why the Alexis suitcases are your cheapest hardshell option since they lack some really important features.

The Chatelet collection is one of the more popular Delsey luggage collections. And we have reviewed it before on this site. It features three hardshell suitcases that have shells made from virgin Polycarbonate, as well as leather accents. The suitcases look elegant and stylish, and they are available in two colors – brown and crème. I wouldn’t really recommend the lighter option if you’re worried about maintenance since it will get dirty pretty quickly.
But the suitcases are pretty durable. They feature Securitech zippers for maximum security of your belongings, as well as a TSA-friendly lock. Plus, the front wheels can be locked, so that your suitcase can’t roll away from you if you’re just standing somewhere. That’s a really useful feature and one that you don’t see too often.
The wheels are double spinner and they roll quietly and smoothly. And they match the color of the shell of the suitcase, which is a really nice touch. There is also the double-barrel wheel handle that helps you maneuver the luggage with ease. Also, the top and side grab handles are soft and sturdy, for ultimate carrying comfort.
The interior of these is really something else. For one thing, it is bright red and it looks really chic. But I find it more interesting that there are full-panel zippered dividers in both compartments, with lots of pockets on top of them. Also, you get a hanger inside the suitcases, as well as laundry and shoe bags, which make it really easy to organize all of your clothes.

The Chromium Lite suitcases are pretty interesting because all of them except the 19” one have full panel dividers in the bottom compartment. Their top compartments feature tie-down straps and pockets – usually, it is vice versa. So, if you’re in the mood to switch up your packing habits, these might be the suitcases to get. The smallest suitcase in this collection also has an external compartment for your electronics and any items you’d like to have easily accessible, which is great for carry-on luggage.
Additionally, the larger Chromium suitcases have weight indicators built into the side handles. They will let you know if your luggage weighs more than 50 lbs, which is pretty useful for checked bags. It’s also useful because they have an expandable capacity – a feature that makes it super easy to go overboard and pack more than you are allowed.
The luggage is made from 100% Polycarbonate, so it is very durable. The shell of the suitcases is able to bend upon impact, and it is less likely to crack under pressure. But, it is prone to scratches, so consider investing in a luggage cover if you want your Chromium suitcases to look brand new for a longer time.
These suitcases also feature recessed TSA locks, a spinner wheel that allow for both 2-wheel and 4-wheel use, non-slip carry handles for your comfort and a telescopic wheel handle that makes moving around the airport with these a breeze. They are a good choice if you’re looking for innovative luggage that has lots of new features to try out.

The Sky 2.0 luggage is made from MicroBallistec Polyester. It is lightweight and really durable, with a vapor barrier that protects your items inside the suitcases. This Delsey collection includes three individual suitcases, as well as three different sets – one includes three pieces of luggage, while the other two feature a carry-on a checked bag.
There are single spinner wheels on this luggage, which is something you don’t really see too often on softsides – especially for this price. They are quiet and roll pretty smoothly, so you have excellent maneuverability of your luggage. The wheel handle is telescopic, and it locks in an extended position.
Also, there are two recessed grab handles that are pretty soft and comfortable, for when you need to quickly pick up your suitcase. The zippers are self-repairing and interlocking, so even though you don’t really have a lock, you don’t have to worry about the safety of your things. And there are three external zippered pockets, including a padded pocket for your electronics.
The packing compartment is pretty spacious and it has expandable capacity. There are tie-down straps in it to keep your clothes organized, as well as a single zippered compartment. The top lid of the suitcase features a zippered pocket and a water-resistant pocket, as well as a suiter section for any clothes you don’t want to get wrinkled.

The Sky Max suitcases are made from pretty much the same material as the Sky 2.0 – MicroBallistec Polyester with a vapor barrier. It makes the suitcases lightweight and durable; in fact, these are the most lightweight Delsey suitcases in this review. If that’s a priority of yours, then these suitcases are really a great choice.
They feature single spinner wheels that allow for both 2-wheel and 4-wheel use, so you can wheel it around however you want. It is pretty easy to maneuver, especially thanks to the telescopic wheel handle. And there are also two carry handles that are padded with neoprene, so they are really soft and comfortable.
The Sky Max luggage doesn’t feature any locks, but they do have interlocking and self-repairing zippers, so your things will be somewhat secure. Also, the suitcases feature corner protectors and skid bars that improve their overall durability and impact resistance.
There are lots of external compartments on the luggage. Three are zippered pockets on the front, and one is a slip pocket on the back, ideal for magazines and books.
The interior of the suitcases is pretty spacious with expandable capacity. There are two shoe compartments on the side of the packing compartment, which is actually pretty convenient. And there are elastic cross straps inside that will keep your clothes in place. The top flap of the suitcases features two zippered pockets, one of which is water-resistant.

The Montmartre suitcases are made from 680d ballistic nylon with teflon treatment. Nylon is usually more durable than polyester, so you can really expect these suitcases to last you for years. Plus, the teflon treatment provides additional protection against debris and moisture, which is perfect for frequent travelers.
This luggage is equipped with double spinner wheels, which is actually really great. They are super smooth and quiet, and you will be able to maneuver the luggage super easily. You also have a dual locking telescopic wheel handle, which further improves the ease of moving around with the luggage.
One big bonus of these suitcases is that they have TSA combination locks – a must if you frequently travel to the US. Plus, it really gives you some peace of mind for the security of your things. But the lock comes at a price – the Montmartre suitcases are on the pricier side, especially for softshell luggage.
There is one large external compartment, which is great for any last-minute items you remember to pack. But not really that great for organization. But no worries – the interior helps in that area since it has four internal pockets. One of those pockets can also be accessed from the exterior, so it is great for any dirty items you’d want to keep separate. Oh, and the capacity of the packing compartment is expandable – great for everyone who loves to shop on holidays!

This Delsey luggage is made from 1680D ballistic nylon. The material itself is pretty durable, and the corner guards help improve the overall durability of the suitcases. There are also four double spinner wheels, which give you excellent maneuverability of the luggage.
One of the best features of these suitcases is the organizational features. There are two padded sleeves for a tablet and laptop in the external front pocket, as well as a dedicated pocket for a power bank so that you can charge your electronics on the go. And there is an additional easy-access compartment, which is great for your spare clothing.
The suitcases have a pretty spacious packing compartment, with several pockets in it and expandable capacity. There are also tie-down straps in it, designed to keep your clothes from getting jumbled around. And the lid of the suitcase has a couple more pockets on it, along with a full zippered divider that makes organization a piece of cake.
The carry-on comes with a TSA-friendly pouch for your toiletries, which is pretty convenient. It’s actually one of the best choices for a carry-on, due to its durability and abundance of features. Just pay attention to the color you are getting – some are just a lot more expensive than others.

Delsey’s Hyperglide suitcase collection is made from polyester. It is a durable material, but not really as sturdy as nylon. These come with four double spinner wheels that roll really smoothly and quietly. Unfortunately, there are no locks on these suitcases, so the safety of your belongings might be an issue.
One feature I really like is the overweight indicator on the top of the Hyperglides. It is especially useful with larger suitcases since it tells you immediately if you need to take some stuff out of your luggage to stay within the weight limits. Which you’ll want to do if you don’t want to pay the overweight baggage fees.
The wheel handle is extendable and it has a rubberized grip – a very useful little detail. Often times your hands will get sweaty when dragging your luggage around, and the rubber on the handle ensures you won’t ever accidentally drop your suitcase. The suitcases also have top, side, and bottom carry handles, so it’s pretty easy to pick them up.
The packing compartment on these is expandable and fully lined. But it doesn’t have a lot of pockets really. There’s a single big zippered pocket on the lid and a smaller one inside the actual compartment. Also, there are only two front pockets, which don’t really allow for great organization.

This is the first thing you need to decide. If you’re looking for a suitcase to check at the airport, I definitely recommend a hardside. They are a lot more durable than softshells or duffel bags, which is exactly what you need thanks to how “gentle” baggage handlers tend to be.
But for anything else, you are fine with either option. I’d say it mostly comes to your packing preferences then. Hardshell suitcases usually have two packing compartments, so they are a better option if you’re going to be sharing your suitcase with someone. But softshells are much better if you want to organize stuff. They usually have lots of more internal and external pockets, which is better for some people.
Also, keep in mind that softsides are generally lighter, but it’s not a huge difference. Usually, it’s just 1-2 lbs per suitcase, so it’s not really a reason to completely give up on the idea of a hardshell if you’re worried about weight.
Something else you should think about is the security of your luggage. Nearly all hardside suitcases come with a lock, and usually, it is TSA friendly. But that’s not the case with softshells – they rarely feature locks and most of the time you need to buy a padlock yourself. So, if you want your luggage to be 100% secure, get a hardside suitcase. But if you’re not worried about that too much, then either one is a good option.
The last thing to consider is the price. Softsides are generally the cheaper option, so go for that if you’re strapped for cash. Hardshell luggage, and Delsey one, in particular, is not really that cheap because of the quality of materials used in them. All of the hardside Delsey suitcases that I’ll show you are made from Polycarbonate – a durable and lightweight material that tends to be pretty expensive.
But keep in mind that some hardsides in this review are actually cheaper than some softsides. So definitely check the prices on Amazon first, before you completely make up your mind.
It is also really important that you get a suitcase that’s large enough for your needs. Don’t get a 28” suitcase if you rarely go away for more than a few days at a time – you’ll barely ever use it, and you won’t get your money’s worth.
And if you plan on flying somewhere, check if your ticket includes a checked bag. If it doesn’t, you’re better off buying a carry-on. It’s actually pretty easy to pack enough clothes for a week in them, and you will wind up saving some money. I would also recommend a carry-on if you’re flying with some really valuable items and don’t really want your suitcase to be out of your sight.
But if you are going on longer trips or are sharing your suitcase, then check out the bigger options. I would recommend you check out the sets – they are usually great value for money. Oftentimes you can get a set of three suitcases for the price of an average Samsonite, which is great!
Think about the features that you really want on your suitcase, and that you aren’t willing to compromise on. Is it expandable capacity? Spinner wheels? A TSA lock?
Whatever they are, you will usually find out if the luggage you like has them in the pros/cons section. If a suitcase is lacking something, I will definitely list it in the pros section. And if you can’t see the feature you’re looking for, check out the mini-reviews – they’ll tell you about all the important features.
Keep in mind that all the hardside suitcases in this review have spinner wheels, so that’s something you can immediately check off your list.
Now, all of these Delsey suitcases are extremely popular and have thousands of positive reviews combined. That says a lot about their quality and overall value for money. I’ll tell you about the four suitcases that I think really stood out – but by no means that does that mean that the rest of them are any less good.
My favorite hardshell was the Delsey Helium Aero 19”. I think it is the perfect little carry-on since its dimensions are internationally accepted inside the cabin. Also, it is made from Polycarbonate, so it is really durable and sturdy. It even features an external compartment for electronics, which is honestly my favorite feature. And of course, there is a TSA combination lock that will protect all of your valuables when you’re not paying attention to your luggage.
The other hardside suitcase I would recommend is the Chatelet Hard +. I think it’s one of the most elegant suitcases Delsey has ever made, and I particularly appreciate the leather details. It looks really good, and I love the red lining inside – a pop of color is always nice. Especially when you get it in the form of two full panel dividers that make your suitcase look extra neat. Additionally, I really like that the front wheels can be locked, so that your luggage can’t just roll away from you when you’re standing on the curb.
My absolute favorite softshell was the Delsey Cruise Lite 21”. It just has so many convenient features for a carry-on – the padded laptop and tablet sleeves were definitely my favorite. I also loved the TSA toiletry bag, as well as the dedicated power bank pocket. Plus, it’s made from durable materials, and it has double spinner wheels and a comfortable wheel handle – what more could you want?
And the other softside suitcase I think you’ll love is the Delsey Sky Max. I love that it is so lightweight, especially because it’s such a large suitcase. It has spinner wheels, neoprene padded carry handles, and even corner protectors that improve the overall durability of the luggage. But what won me over with these suitcases were all the pockets and compartments – perfect for anyone who likes to organize their clothes.
