Since Apple added eSIM capabilities to the iPhone, the number of eSIMs you can use in each iPhone has increased. It started out with the iPhone X which had only 1 eSIM and has now increased to eight with the latest iPhone 14.
Below is a table showing you how many eSIMs each iPhone model can use:
| iPhone Model | Active eSIMs | eSIM Profiles |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 14 | 2 | 10 |
| iPhone 13 | 2 | 10 |
| iPhone 12 | 1 | 10 |
| iPhone 11 | 1 | 10 |
| iPhone X | 1 | 10 |
| iPhone 8 or Earlier | None | None |
You can also switch between a SIM and an eSim and split the roaming data from the calls/texts.
Another handy feature of having multiple eSIM profiles on your iPhone is that you can switch between them depending on which country you are traveling to or whether you are working. ESIMs are an extremely flexible way of adjusting how you use data with your phone.
