Jaw-Dropping Helicopter Flights and Tours in Switzerland

You’ve hiked the trails, skied the slopes, swam the lakes, and jumped the cliffs. You’ve done all there is to do in Switzerland, right? Not quite. When you feel that the sky’s the limit for adventures in Switzerland, it’s high time for a helicopter ride.

The crisp and fresh Swiss air is not exempt from being another outdoor playground in Switzerland. Paragliding and Bungee Jumping give a taste of being suspended in midair, but you haven’t done the ultimate experience yet. With no lack of breathtaking scenery, travelers can take rides and airborne thrills aboard a helicopter from many locations in Switzerland.

Here’s a list of what you can do depending on your thirst for adventure.

Scenic Helicopter Rides and Tours

There is a really long list of locations and destinations to choose from for a scenic ride above lakes and amidst mountains. Check out the full lists from Swiss Helicopter or Helicopter Flight to find tours taking off from all possible locations in Switzerland.

A ride can take anywhere from 20 minutes to a full day, depending on your route and your budget. Some of the more popular locations are:

Helicopter Flights and Tours in Switzerland

The most popular heli-diving location is Interlaken. Its location amongst the Swiss Alps – Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau are perfect for a heli-diving adventure since there aren’t too many obstacles to navigate. Passing over lakes before landing back in Interlaken is a huge plus.

Heli Skydive Interlaken

Yes, this is kind of insane. You get into a perfectly good helicopter, fly high above the alps around Interlaken, and then…throw yourself out.

If you like the idea of helicopter rides and skydiving, then no one back home is going to believe you did this!

  • Route: High above Grindelwald with a view of the main peaks – Eiger, Monch & Jungfrau
  • What to expect: This is a tandem skydive for sure, and you will be guided all the way from the ground, well, back to the ground again!

Heliskiing

Topping off your helicopter tour with a ride down the slopes is a dream come true for many adventurers. A heliski tour involves a scenic ride from various destinations towards some of the most gorgeous snow-capped peaks of the alps. Some tours require a short hike, but every experience is sure to be worth the trip.

Helicopter Flights and Tours in Switzerland

For this kind of adventure, Swiss Helicopter seems to be the only operator who offers this package tour. Most of the flights just serve as “shuttle rides” from one location to a popular ski region. Some flights, however, take you to some mountain peaks for a downhill run. Here’s a list of some of those locations:

Erstfeld

  • CHF 1,440: Flight to Hüfifirn, downhill run to Linthal and Schächental valley
  • CHF 1,210: Flight to Sustenlimmi, downhill run to Steingletscher and Voralptal

Gsteigwiler-Interlaken

  • CHF 310: Flight to Ebnefluh, downhill run to the Lötschenlücke. Then past the Hollandia Hut via the Lang Glacier and through the Lötschental to Blatten
  • CHF 310: Flight to Petersgrat, downhill run through the Faflertal Valley to the Lötschental Valley

Samedan/St. Moritz

  • CHF 765: Flight to Fuorcla Chamuotsch, tracks in virgin snow and downhill run through Val Suvretta or Valetta dal Güglia

Sky’s the limit in Switzerland

There seems to be no end to how much you can enjoy nature in Switzerland. Might as well, too, if you’re lucky enough to be surrounded by some of nature’s most beautiful wonders. Prices of helicopter rides can be much steeper than usual, but if you have the budget, it is definitely an experience you dare not pass on.
