ESIM Product Comparison

Best Serbia eSIM

Maya Mobile

We enjoyed using Maya Mobile eSIMs in Serbia because their prices are so reasonable and buying them is so simple.

Their prepaid eSIM data packages range from 1-10 GB with the added flexibility of between 5-30 days choice for each data package size.

Here are some examples of their Serbia eSIMs:

NOTE: CURRENTLY ON SALE – 20% OFF

Maya uses Yettel/Telenor in Serbia, which has the country’s best 4G/LTE coverage. So, you know you will get a connection wherever you go.

If you need unlimited data, you should check out Holafly too. But, for the best match for data package size vs time, they are the ones to go with – in most cases. Just play around with the data/time as it often makes a difference in the price.

And, it does pay to compare the specific deal you get with Airalo or Nomad!

Pros

  • Reasonable prices
  • Best for mix/match of data and time
  • Best 4G coverage

Cons

  • Slightly more expensive

Best Unlimited Data eSIM

Holafly

Holafly is renowned for its unlimited data eSIMs and Serbia is no exception. This is great news for heavy data users who want to surf the web all day, using YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok.

Their eSIMs for Serbia run from 5 days to 1 month. Which is great if you use a lot of data like we do on the road. The only limitation, as with most providers, is you don’t get a phone number.

Holafly Serbia’s unlimited data packages are:

Holafly has teamed up with Telenor Mobile in Serbia like both Airalo and Maya.

Note: The only downside of using Holafly eSIMs in most cases is that you can’t share more than 500 MB per day.

Pros

  • Affordable Unlimited Data
  • Great coverage in Serbia

Cons

  • No hotspot/Tethering

Airalo O2

Airalo Serbia Mobile has a limited range of eSIMs with Yettel as the mobile service provider. They also use 4G LTE, so no 5G in sight yet.

Airalo’s Serbia eSIMs are:

Airalo is one of the most experienced eSIM companies around with eSIMs all over the world and in Europe. They have a very handy eSIM App that allows you to easily buy, install, renew, and upgrade your eSIM while monitoring your usage.

I have really enjoyed using their App on the road, and they send you warnings when your data or time period is running out too.

The only challenge with Airalo is that they only have these 3 prepaid eSIMs which is unusual for them in my experience. Perhaps they will expand it in the near future.

Pros

  • Best 1 GB price
  • Top provider with 4G
  • Good customer service

Cons

  • No unlimited data

Nomad

The Nomad Serbia eSIMs are reasonably priced but fail to compete with Airalo and Maya Mobile. You can get various GB sized packages from 1 – 10GB.

The biggest advantage of Nomad over the other eSIM providers is that they use multiple mobile carriers. So, if you are heading further afield in Serbia, as we did in the southern mountains area, then they are a better option for great reception.

Otherwise, if you are staying in the cities, then they are just more expensive.

Noamd’s eSIMs for Serbia are:

I have used Nomad quite a bit during our trip, and if you use their mobile App then they are also very easy to purchase, install, and renew with data monitoring inside the app too.

Pros

  • Multiple mobile carriers (better coverage)
  • Affordable per GB
  • Easy App usage

Cons

  • More expensive per GB

Best Eastern Europe eSIM

Ubigi

Ubigi has a few regional eSIMs that include Serbia. Because they are not country-specific, it is going to cost you a bit more. But, if you are traveling around Europe then it might be the perfect option.

For example, they have a Europe Extended eSIM that includes Western Europe and a range of Eastern European countries that are usually excluded from most European eSIMs such as

Here are the prices for the two European eSIM options:

Ubigi also has worldwide eSIM plans and lots of other small regions that most other eSIM companies do not offer. It is their specialty.

Honestly, I found it quite annoying in the south-east of Europe to find relevant and affordable eSIMs compared to countries like Turkey or the rest of Europe. Hopefully, that will change.

Pros

  • Great Eastern Europe eSIM coverage
  • Monthly options

Cons

  • No Serbia-only eSIMs

What Is An eSIM?

Not sure what an eSIM really is?

ESIMs are just a replacement for normal SIMs only they are already in your phone (or laptop, smartwatch etc). Instead of buying a SIM and inserting it you just download the data from the mobile carrier and then connect in minutes.

It’s the digital or virtual SIM of the future really!

Benefits of Getting an Serbia eSIM

Getting an eSIM in Serbia instead of a SIM has many advantages:

  • Quick Purchase: You just buy your eSIM online and download it
  • Dual SIM Feature: Don’t worry about losing your current SIM and phone number, eSIMs run in parallel.
  • Ready when you land: Forget lining up for a SIM at the airport, your eSIM is electronic and ready in seconds.
  • Affordability:  Compare prices and networks to get the best option. And change if you are not happy.
  • Eco-Friendly: No more wasted SIM cards or packaging. Good for the environment

How Much eSIM Data Do You Need in Serbia?

It all depends on how much data you use per day (check your phone’s stats). And, it also depends on how often you are not in your hotel with wifi (or if their wifi is any good :>).

Short Stay or Little Use

People on a short trip, say a weekend,  who want to check maps and emails will only need 1-3 GB of data, especially if you have WiFi in your accommodation.

Longer Stay or Heavier Use

If you are a heavier user who constantly does the following:

  • Youtube or Streaming
  • Instagram or Tiktok for hours
  • Lots of downloads for work (GB)

Then unlimited data is a good option, or at the very least 20 GB for a few days might be enough.
